About Frank and Carol O'Reilly
My wife and I bought Langlade way back in 1994. On reflection, it may not have been the best financial investment we have ever made but we have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that it has been the best lifestyle choice we could ever have made! When we first acquired the property it was in a very run down state not having been lived in for nearly twenty five years. At first, the renovation project ahead of us seemed a daunting task, but instead of rushing in and trying to do everything at once, we took our time and undertook the project on a house by house basis. As a consequence from start to finish it took us nearly 10 years to complete. But what a project! What fun! For us, Langlade is the best thing we have ever done together! We hope you will visit here at Langlade and fall in love with the property just as we have and more importantly get a real flavour of French country living. 'Hope to see you soon, Regards Frank and Carol

A perfect place for a reaxing holiday
Our 2 week stay here was wonderful! The house was perfect, lovely rooms, gorgeous garden and the pool was brilliant especially as our little 2 year old grandson was not able to get to the pool without help as it had a fence all the way round.
Frank and Carol the owners were very friendly and provided us with an exceptional welcome pack as well as advice if we needed it about the area. Frank also kept the pool clean for use each day too.
Our 2 weeks went far too quickly and we really did not want to go home!!
We will definitely be returning in the future. You will not be disappointed if you choose this for your holiday.

A Haven for Relaxation
What a lovely trip! We stayed at Langlade for a week in September and absolutely loved the rural French experience! As a group of friends visiting we enjoyed much reading and sunbathing beside the prestine pool during the day and a glass of wine in the sun with our BBQ in the evening. It really was an amazing way to unwind and relax! The properties are well equiped, spacious and immaculatley clean. And we were welcomed by a very generous package with much more than essentials to start us off before we hit the local intermarche.
There is plenty to do in the surroundnig area with local markets, wonderful restaurants, live music at the local watering hole and many beautiful nearby villages such as Aubeterre-sur-Dronne where the monolithic church is worth a visit.
Frank and Carol were the perfect hosts, very friendly and happy to provide information about the area to ensure we had a truely memorable holiday. September was the perfect time of year for us to go, although the sunflowers had started to bow their heads the temperature was just below 30 degrees, ideal for our party who were more acclimatised to the dreich summer we were getting in Scotland! We're already talking about planning a return trip!
A great place to stay
Surrounded by fields of sunflowers the setting is truely fanatastic. Modern and well equipped our property was spacious, clean and well equipped and presented. The swimming pool was only yards away and the BBQ on the rear terrace made for many a pleasant evening. The owners live on site and are very friendly and only too willing to share with you their knowledge of the local area. For fresh produce and a truely French shopping experience try the Monday farmers market in nearby Chalais less than a 10 minute drive away. Wine lovers must visit St Emilion and for those with more expensive tastes Cognac is only an hour away by car. Our accommodation was much better than other rentals we have stayed in previously and I would have no hesitation in recommmending it to anyone seeking a truely relaxing holiday in rural France.
Frank and Carol offer the perfect home for a memorable family holiday...
Our Children never left the pool...even when it rained!
The kitchen is well stocked with all mod cons, Bedrooms are comfortable and large, the scenery is fabulous and the location offers many fantastic walks.
Perfect for a quiet rest and bonding quality time for a family
MY EXPERIENCE AT L'ANGLADE
L'anglade is a perfect oasis in delightful rolling countryside.I can personally recommend the properties, having stayed in both of them. They are of a high standard and offer a home to home exprience. The gardens and swimming pools add to the ambience and relaxed setting.
Your hosts Carol and Frank are most welcoming and helpful with the local tourism.
The properties are ideally situated for visiting St Emilion,Cognac and Bordeaux as well as a wealth of local historical sites.
Langlade is situated in the lovely rolling country side of Charente in SW France. Although set in a rural environment there are a host of amenites and activities nearby: Aubeterre (voted one of the most beautiful villages in France) with its lovely square, bars and restaurants, not to mention the largest monolithic church in Europe, is only a ten minutes drive away. The market town of Chalais has a great local market every Monday morning (5 minutes away) whilst Riberac (30 minutes) hosts an even bigger market every Friday. There is a 9 hole golf course just outside Aubterre as well as kayaking for the kids.
Wine enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to St Emilion, which Robert Parker describes as 'probably France's most beautiful wine village' or just meandering through some of the other appelations in the area such as Fronsac, Cote de Blaye or Pomerol. We are also fortunate to have a number of good restaurants in the area as well as plenty of family type restaurants.
