Casa Do Sitio Do Pinherio is situated just outside the town of Luz da Tavira in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of the most beautiful features of the Algarve.
The Ria Formosa is a natural paradise of 60km of lagoons, rivers & beaches, a shelter for migratory & rare bird species. The park is undeveloped and strictly protected which means its great for cycling, walking, fishing, sailing, swimming and because of its sparse population, very peaceful. The spacious villa has satellite TV, private pool, air-conditioning, barbeque and plenty of terraces.
Local Info: Luz da Tavira: Located less than 5 minutes by car from the villa, this is where you can get all your basic supplies. There is a market where you can buy fresh fish, meat, vegetables and fruit. The houses in Luz de Tavira have the traditional 'platibandas' borders painted with geometrical or floral motifs, that frame walls, windows and doorways - many of which are masterpieces of mortar work. The influence of the Art Nouveau decorative style, popular at the beginning of the century is apparent in the ornate chimneys rising from the roofs.
The main church was built in the 16th century; much of the original structure has survived to the present day. The imposing Renaissance porch takes up
large part of the main façade. The roofs of the three naves are hidden by an original and highly decorative ensemble made up of one semi-circular and two
Local info (cont): Santa Luzia
This seaside town is host to many different sea food restaurants and only 10 minutes by car from the villa. Keep going through the town of Luz da Tavira and just outside the town you can take a right turn which will bring you down to Santa Luzia. As well as many restaurants there is also a cash machine and a number of small shops.
Pedras d’el Rei
Take the same journey as you would to Santa Luzia, but just before you reach the town you will reach Pedras d’el Rei. This is where you can get the train ride to the beach but there is also a resort complex which has restaurants and also tennis facilities.
Local info (cont): Tavira: Located just 15 minutes from the villa, Tavira, along with Lagos are considered the most architecturally beautiful on the Algarve. Tavira remains virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. One of the beauties of Tavira is it still remains a very traditional Portuguese town but has all the facilities to cater for the discerning visitor. Full of beautiful restaurants, cafes, parks. A Roman bridge links the two parts of the town across the river Gilão. Tavira is a great place for markets, and on Wednesday evenings during high season you can simply stroll through the market at your own pace taking in all the various arts, crafts and delicious home cooked bakery offerings.
We had a great holiday in your lovely villa. We enjoyed many evenings sitting on the terrace taking in the view. It was exactly what we were looking for. We very much enjoyed the fish restaurant beside your villa. We had lunch there most days. We hope to return soon.
We were a large family holidaying together and the villa was lovely. It is in a beautifully rural location with great views. The nearby beaches, a short drive, are amazing. It was exactly what we were looking for and the kids loved the swimming pool, which became their second home! The locals were friendly and the nearby seafood restaurant was top notch. I think we chose the right area of Portugal, which seemed unspoilt, and we will be back - both to the villa and to Tavira.
A lovely villa with great character in a stunning location with views to die for. We already love the area around Luz de Tavira and finding this villa was the icing on the cake. We lay by the pool for hours and only heard birds and cicadas! There's plenty of room for two adults and two grown-up children to chill out and find their own space.
We were very lazy and ate out every night, which is not expensive and the best fish restaurant in the area is almost walking distance! The TV with tons of channels was great for watching the paralympics!
The house is of a traditional design and was clean and well cared for. There's a visiting pool boy and friendly gardener, the local agents were efficient and the owner charming and easy to book with.
It may be worth mentioned that the lovely pool is fairly small and all you need but as it is a similar depth of about 1m/1.20m all over parents of small children would need to be particularly vigilant.
As the villa is used by the owner, everything has been carefully though out and is well equipped to give you a fantastic holiday. Perhaps if a larger party were to book then a few more pool loungers and sun umbrellas would be useful.....and a dustpan and broom to clean up the sand we brought home!
Thank you for one of the best holidays we have ever had, it came at just the right time for us and we really hope to return again next year. The Lloyd Family
Bra hus i trevligt läge.
Lugnt och stilla med mycket fågelkvitter. Väldigt fin utsikt.
Stora sovrum men ganska litet kök.
The great advantage of Casa Do Sitio Do Pinherio is that its only 5 minutes to the town of Luz da Tavira and only 10mins from the historic and beautiful town of Tavira and its facilities so you can enjoy both seclusion and you are only a stones throw away from restaurants, shopping, golfing and a whole host of other amenities.
Golf: Casa Do Sitio Do Pinherio is a fantastic launching pad to all the golf courses in the area. 3 courses are all within 25 of Villa.
Benamor Golf: This course. designed by Sir Henry Cotton, is the first golf course to open east of the capital of the Algarve, Faro, and lies just outside of Tavira. The course is an undulating one, although not excessively so, offering views over the mountains to one side and the sea to the other.
Quinta da Ria: This spectacular 18 hole golf course is in the Ria Formosa Natural Park and spreads along an almost flat surface of 660.000 m2 down to the Ria Formosa itself, hanging over it and with a stunning view of the sea.
Colina Verde: The Colina Verde is a small inland 9-hole course situated in Maragota, between the coast and the Algarvian mountain range.
Castro Marim: The recently built course is part of a truly exceptional tourist development, designed to provide unforgettable moments of leisure. It has a very special setting in the peaceful atmosphere of the eastern Algarve
Quinta de Cima: A Championship style course of great character. Running through the stunning layout is a series of lakes connected by a stream, which the architect has skillfully incorporated as an added challenge.
