A beautiful and relaxing get away!
I definitely recommend this cottage. It is very clean, roomy, and the lake view is absolutely gorgeous. This property has three different levels to enjoy the beautiful views of the lake. The back deck is very nice and is plenty big enough for entertaining guest. Mid-way down the back stairs, going to the lake, there is fire pit which is perfect for relaxing and winding down the evenings. At the end of the property there's a nice dock and seating area that's great for catching some sun, fishing, or just hanging out on the water. We fished and our kids took advantage of the paddle boat at the property. My wife and her friend brought a couple of inflatable rafts and enjoyed floating off the side of the dock.
We went with another family totaling eight people. There's three bedrooms, two baths, and an extra roll out bed in the main bedroom closet. There was plenty of room for all of us and we didn't feel overcrowded. The kitchen is very spacious for a lake cottage and we had no problems preparing big meals each night for all of us. The front yard is flat and was perfect for us to set up can jam and corn hole games.
We rented a couple kayaks right across the lake for the kids to enjoy. They caught crappie, a couple pike, and a few bass while out in the kayaks. From the dock we were catching plenty of bluegill, perch, and a few nice cat fish. It's a quiet area and although there's neighbors, it still feels very secluded and relaxing. The town is small and friendly. There's a grocery store within 6 miles away along with a general store, fishing supply, restaurant, ice cream, and gas station nearby. We got groceries upon arrival and prepared our meals at the cottage taking advantage of the gas grill on the back deck. We all had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this cottage if you're looking for a nice relaxing lake house trip with beautiful views.
Thank you for the outstanding review of our cottage on Crooked Lake. We have tried to make it a relaxing get away for our guests with opportunities to explore the lake and the surrounding area. You were wonderful guests and we would welcome you back any time. I hope you'll consider us for your future vacations.
What a wonderful cottage! We had three great days of fishing, playing games, grilling, using the fire pit and renting a pontoon. Lois and Hank are so kind and so willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We will definitely be going again!!
We love hearing back from our guests! So glad you had a great time. It was a bit chilly for your Arizona visitors but I'm sure the firepit helped along with the extra blankets! Come back and see us anytime! We enjoyed having you.

Peaceful Lakefront Getaway
We had a quick 2-day stay here and wish it could have been longer. The lake view is stunning and really makes the property special. Our favorite parts of the home were the three decks: There is a large deck off the kitchen; a small deck midway between the house and the lake (so perfect! includes a firepit and seating for several people), as well as a small deck by the dock. Our boys (ages 12 and 17) loved the dock and had fun on the paddleboat. We brought a few rafts to float and relax on. We rented a pontoon boat from the nearby Crooked Lake Resort and had a blast. The neighborhood and lake were pretty quiet during our stay, which we liked. So peaceful, yet fun to see a water skier or pontoon boat cruise by every now and then.
The house was very clean and well appointed with nice towels. Kitchen had everything we needed to make our two dinners, including a good bbq grill. Having two bathrooms is great! The only thing that didn't work for us was the twin beds have footboards, so they were too cramped for my 6'1" teenager. I'm sure he could have made do, but as there were only four of us, he slept on the comfy couch and was just as happy. The home has WiFi, which is very nice (my husband was even able to do his Fantasy Football online draft, too, one of the nights!). We enjoyed the board games and cards that were provided.
The owners live right next door and are super friendly. They provide a very helpful information sheet about the local area that we really appreciated. All in all we loved our too-short stay and we hope to return again soon!
Allison, Jim, and boys
Dear Allison, Jim and boys,
Thank you do much for your kind review and for pointing out what you loved about the property (oh that view!) and what could be improved on (twin bed length!). We appreciate our guest's comments and try to make changes when possible to provide a comfortable stay for everyone. The sectional is so comfy and I'm glad your son enjoyed it. Think of us next summer and plan on staying longer. You were excellent guests!!

beautiful lake house
Everything you could hope for! Super clean!
Thank you Sally for your kind words. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family. Come back and see us again!
A few of the great activities available are water sports, fishing, hunting and fall hiking color tours. The Pere Marquette bike and hiking trail is nearby. Golf courses are within a short distance. The lakefront swimming area has a gradual drop off. Fishing includes Bluegills, Perch, Rock Bass, Crappie and Largemouth Bass. There is a free public boat launch approximately one mile away to launch your boat, pontoon or jet ski. For your Mid-Michigan shopping experience and other activities, you only need go to Clare, Houghton Lake, Cadillac or Mt. Pleasant, Soaring Eagle Casino, all approximately 15 minutes to 35 minutes away. Want to hunt Northern Michigan whitetail deer, turkey and other small game? The Au Sable State Forest and Pere Marquette State Forest are only minutes away.
