A nice apartment, very quiet, out of the busy resorts

  • 4 of 5

Hi, if you prefer tranquility, nice beaches, not much else, then this is perfect. The apartment itself is spacious and well furnished, nicely decorated, with lots of shared amenities (pool, basketball and tennis fields). Some of the best beaches in the area (our prefered one was Maili, for the big waves). Nothing is very far in Oahu so enjoy!

Clean, comfortable, and out of the way

  • 4 of 5

If you want something out of the way & quiet, this is a good place. The condo is roomy & comfortable with everything you need, and there are nice uncrowded beaches nearby. There are beautiful peacocks, chickens, and tiny cats roaming the property so it's kind of fun. It's an hour drive from Honolulu though so be prepared for that. Tip - don't use gps directions - use the directions provided by Robin (the gps directions lead you to a locked emergency side gate).

Clean, all that we needed

  • 4 of 5

Arriving at Makaha Plantation late at night was easy and the security at night was cordial. The next day security asked where we were going and suggested a great place to eat, Hanara, YUM, we would have eaten there daily if we had time. Very local and huge portions of every type food you'd ever want. Also ate Countryside Cafe and loved the macadamia nut pancakes!!! Loading the laundry card was simple as was using the machines. There was quite a bit of needed construction ongoing, but it did not bother us. Not having a/c was a surprise - guess I missed that point, but it cooled off fine. I'd like to have a fan for the kitchen when cooking at night, though. Ample towels and beach towels and supplies. The area has a feral cat issue, which we noticed in other parts of Oahu. The kids and I loved the peacocks roaming. Mangoes fallen from the trees made for tasty treats - just need to beat the peacocks to them. The beaches nearby are lovely, just skirt the homeless and there are many areas to do so. The nearby Post Office is perfect for mailing home the large bags of chocolate covered macadamia nuts purchased at Costco. Our family liked being with the locals and not on Waikiki. The Aloha Spirit is alive at Makaha. Mahalo.

Home away from home!!

  • 5 of 5

This review is long over due!! It was my first trip to the island with my two kids (14yrs & 4yrs old). The condo was perfect! Although there were two rooms and beds for each of us, my children decided to sleep with me every night and it was comfortable. Everything we needed was available. The beach toys and cooler came in handy!! This place is a bit of drive from some major tourist spots but it was fine, we enjoyed the drive and scenery. We mainly went to the Ko Olina area and Haleiwa so it was perfect. The area is very safe and quiet. I definitely recommended others to use this rental. I will be back. Thank you Robin!

Beautiful scenery a little far from the hubbub

  • 4 of 5

Loved the condo. Had all the necessities... Kitchen needs, plenty of nice towels, boogie boards, cooler and beach mats. Only drawback was the drive back and forth: 30 minutes to south, hour to Honolulu or Millilani, more to North Shore. Not many known restaurants on this side of town so felt we had to drive the 30+ minutes for dinner each night. Just having never been before was hard to pick a spot to meet our needs. Would probably stay in Millilani which is more centralized next time so I'm closer to everything.
