About Paul Nordeen

We are spending more personal time here and expect to retire here. It is the nicest place we have and we are looking for guests who will respect Mary's House as much as we do.

Paul Nordeen purchased this house in 2011

Why Paul Nordeen chose Arizona

All that is attractive about Arizona. Inexpensive to live here. Very active environment. Desert landscape so that there is low maintenance. Pick your own grapefruit and tangelo for breakfast that you eat on the patio. Many of our guests stay as they take advantage of the offerings of Arizona, visit friends, take care of family members who are infirm, or search for their own home to buy.

What makes this house unique

God has blessed us with this beautiful home and we are privileged to be able to share all its fully equipped amenities with others at a very competitive price. Check out our reviews.

Very nice place

  • 5 of 5

The house is very neat and all the kitchen accessories (plus!) are there. Very conveniently located for restaurants, shopping etc. I was there mainly to spend time with my mother who resides in Royal Oaks (only a half mile away!). Thank you!

Comfortable home!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Mary’s House in January 2017. Upon arrival, we were met by caretaker Joanne who was very helpful. The home was clean, bright, and very comfortable. The kitchen had all the amenities of home. We brought some things from home that we didn’t think would be supplied, only to find that Mary’s House was very well stocked. In fact, some friends who also rent in Sun City were jealous about all the cookware in Mary’s home that was not offered in their own rental. We had no problems with anything in the house while we were there; everything worked perfectly. Not only were we happy with the indoor accommodations, we really enjoyed the lanai, cooking out on the charcoal grill, eating tangelos and grapefruit from the back yard, and watching the bunnies play.

We loved working with the owners who obviously care about their home AND their renters. The little things that they did (having a Fry’s value card with their house key; assisting us in getting our favorite sports cable station; having lots of maps/Arizona materials in the home) all made our visit easy and carefree. We would love to stay again, and gave thought to providing a bad recommendation so that no one else would find out about this little jewel. But that wouldn’t be fair, now would it?! ;-)

Thank you, Mary and Paul, for offering Mary’s House to folks like us who are looking to rent a cozy home, not an impersonal hotel room.

Owner's Response: The Harneds are very gracious. Thank you for your kind words. Again, we are blessed by having another family that both enjoyed Mary's House and helped maintain it for those who come after. You should see how clean they left the charcoal grill and re-supplied items that they had used.

Clean, Comfy and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home. It was clean, modern and well furnished on a quiet street. We really loved sitting in the back yard watching the gambel quail, cottontail rabbits, many varieties of birds and even coyote. The recreation centers were a huge plus - so many fun things to do and enjoy from mini golf, paddle boats, fitness center, pools, concerts, bingo and so much more. Access to all these things was worth purchasing the pass. Plan to stay here again for sure.

Owner's Response: Wow! Such a kind response from Joanne R. We are happy to see that they saw a coyote. We thought they had gone extinct because no one had seen one for about a year. We are particularly thankful because Joanne and her husband reported that the bedroom walk-in closet light fixture irreparably died when they pulled the chain. It happened on a Sunday afternoon and because they immediately reported this disaster we were able to have it repaired by Monday noon. We are most grateful for those guests who care about Mary's wonderful home as much as we do. We invite other caring people to enjoy and help us take care of our clean, comfy and cozy home. Mmmm... we should hire Joanne R. to do our ad copy.

Wonderful opportunity

  • 5 of 5

The property was just as it was advertised. We could not have asked for a better experience. It felt like you were at home. We had already decided that when we planned to be in that area again we would definitely seek accommodations with you. Thanks again for an excellent vacation.

Owner's Response: Thank you Sandra P (from Virginia). And because you did such a wonderful job in taking care of Mary's home for our next guest we would be quite pleased to have you return. In fact, this is exactly what makes Mary's House such a wonderful place: Everyone helps us take care of it so that when we eventually move in it will feel just like home for us.

Great place to stay in Sun City, AZ

  • 5 of 5

This is a very comfortable, well-kept up property. I felt at home. I would highly recommend staying here. Although I did not get to see a coyote, I did enjoy the grapefruit from the tree in the backyard.

Owner's Response: We need to go out and talk with those coyotes. However, they are as independent as our grown children and decide on their own whom they will favor. Grapefruit are much more dependable. Thank you for your kind words.

Second Time a Charm

  • 5 of 5

Mary's House has everything one could wish for while away from home - 2 BRs, 3rd BR has computer/printer, 2 full baths, well-furnished kitchen, living area with large screen TV and cable, covered car space and delightful patio with fruit trees and hopping rabbits. The location is excellent, less than 5 minutes off the NW corner of the 101 Loop. Except during rush hour, the PHX airport is an easy 20 minute ride with Tucson an 90 minutes south and Sedona the same to the north. If you are a baseball fan, the spring training homes of the Dodgers, Brewers, Indians, Reds, Royals, Padres, Mariners, and Rangers are close by. If you're a shopper, there's everything you need on W. Bell Rd. or in Surprise - 10 minutes from lovely Mary's House. Topping it off, Paul and Mary are wonderful owners, who maintain their property wonderfully and expect their renters to do the same! Enjoy!

Owner's Response: Such kind words. Thank you. Many of our guests return year after year. Our guests have come because they need a place to stay while caring for a loved one who lives near by, because they play in a Senior baseball league, because they are looking for a base to travel to such places as Sedona and the Grand Canyon, because they want to have a good place to stay while they go hunting for their own home in Sun City, because they wanted to golf and hike, etc. We have had guests from Canada, Japan, Tennessee, British Columbia, Washington State, Iowa, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and other far-away places. Bring us your reason for coming and we will give you honest guidance whether you stay at Mary's house or somewhere else.
