Beautiful restored self catering Mill with lake views and sep B&B accomodation.

Moulin des Farges sits in a beautifully tranquil valley surrounded by streams & waterfalls. The 7 acre grounds comprise of a 2 acre trout lake, swimming pool and sun terrace, gardens all with pleasant areas to sit, totally private and secluded offering a fantastic holiday retreat for those looking for peace and quiet, a perfect place for cyclists, walkers, water enthusiasts and nature lovers.

The Dordogne river offers great water sports, the scenery is outstanding and gives great inspiration to photographers and painters alike.

We offer self catering accommodation in our restored Cottage. It has a tranquil lakeside setting and sleeps 6, tastefully decorated and with quality furnishings.

We also offer 5 luxury ensuite bed & breakfast rooms. One is a family room, weekly rates available. website -

All rooms have fantastic views overlooking the swimming pool and lake. Prices start from 65 Euro per room per night including breakfast. We offer evening meals for all our guests, 30 euros for a 4 coarses including wine. We can cater for children with prior notice.

Our delightful detached Cottage is situated adjacent to our trout lake where you can enjoy fishing on the bank or out in the boat or just sitting by the lake looking out to the magnificent Viaduct, a local tourist attraction situated at the end of the lake.

Our guests have full use of the swimming pool, decking area around the pool and sun terraces which are equipped with sun loungers, parasols and chairs. There are many places to explore around the grounds. For those who like a shady place to sit we also have a large pergola and many other areas in which to relax.

The Cottage has a full gas central heating and wood burner in the lounge making it ideal for a winter break.It's thick stone walls keep it cool in the summer.

Ground floor - Large lounge, dining room area with quality furnishings and a wood burner set in an inglenook fireplace. We have English Sky TV and DVD facilities. Ground floor bedroom with double bed. Well equipped kitchen with all mod cons, and a separate.

First floor - a large landing leading to one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a large bathroom with bath and shower facilities. There is a private garden with table, chairs, parasol and BBQ facilities.

Within a five minute drive is a large public lake with water sports edged by a beautiful clean sandy beach and children's play areas.

The attractive market town of Meymac is 3 kms away and is recommended in many guides as a place worth visiting. It has all the amenities you will need.

The Correze has 6 of France's most beautiful villages, all accessible from Moulin Des Farges and for those skiing enthusiasts Mont Dore which provides excellent seasonal skiing is just 45 minutes away.

About Mr Andrew Fern

We were living busy lives in London both working in retail. When we found out that we were expecting a child we wanted him to have the very best start in life with the opportunity to live in a safe, secure and clean enviroment with the advantage of having both parents with him in his early years. We have managed to utilise our previous knowledge and skills to create a fabulous home and business.

Why Mr Andrew Fern chose Ussel

After scouring many areas in France in which to set up our home and business, none could revival this. The scenerary is stunning, our piece of paradise!. Many of our guests agree. The area is known as the lungs of France, clean and pure. Its likened to the lake district, the difference being we can provide a little less rain and more sunshine!

What makes this cottage unique

When you stand outside the house which is on an elevation, the views below are breathtaking. The whole valley is surrounded by some of the very tallest trees, which gives the house privacy, its like an oasis in the forest, the gardens have matured beautifully and the pool below glistens in the sunshine. At the end of the lake is the magnificent viaduct which in summer months has the steam train rolling across it.

Two years since we stayed in the Mill. The setting is stunning and Andy & Georgina made sure our stay was perfect from the moment we arrived. I tried some fly fishing on the lake which I found wonderfully relaxing and the surroundings were so tranquill. The mill was well furnished and was a "home from home". We had a delightful meal which was prepared by Andy on our wedding anniversary. We do hope to go back some day!

Activities available at Moulin des Farges:

Fishing for trout and perch on our private lake ( no licence required). Swimming in the pool and relaxing on the pool terrace & gardens. Use of the small boat on the lake.

Within a 5 minute drive: Equestrian centre with very reasonable rates. Lac Seychemille - a large public lake with sandy beach (overlooked by life-guards in season) ideal for swimming and water sports ie Sailing and canoeing. It also has a restaurant overlooking the lake as well as a children's play area.

The beautiful town of Meymac - is featured in the Michelin guide as a place worth stopping for. It has prestigious old houses owned by the vintners of Meymac in years gone by, cobbled streets, an ancient church, bars, shops, restaurants and it's very own contemporary Art Museum which features modern art exhibitions.

Ruin des Cars - an ancient Roman ruin is set in the national park.

Within a 30 - 45 minute drive: 2 Chateaux to visit - Chateau de Val.

Other Activities: skiing is 45 mins away

Golf: We have 2 local golf courses, Neuvic, 9 hole golf coarse approx 40 mins and the second on the Millevaches plateau again 9 holes. We will be happy to book a round for you.

Stay tax $0.33 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the owner upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 2 years.

Guests can have access from 4pm on the day of arrival.Change over day is usually Saturday but we can be more flexible in low season. Guests are asked to vacate the Watermill by 10am on the day of departure.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
