About Rita Ammons

My husband and I were both born and raised in Yuma, Arizona. We have always loved Williams and have a summer home there where we can escape the desert heat. We are semi-retired and spend our time between Yuma and Williams. We feel very fortunate to be able to live in both places.

Rita Ammons purchased this house in 2009

Why Rita Ammons chose Grand Canyon

When looking for a rental, we fell in love with this home. Its vintage character and history sealed the deal for us. It is one of the original homes built in Williams and is in a great location. We hope everyone who visits will enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

Spacious rooms, vintage furnishings, great neighborhood, and only two very short blocks to Route 66.

Charming

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Williams. We were very comfortable and the home was warm and cozy! We were very glad we made the decision to rent instead of staying at a hotel inside the canyon! If we return, we will most definitely stay here again!

Wonderful family home

  • 4 of 5

We loved staying at this house, my 12 yo son said it was his favorite, and we've stayed in a lot of rentals. Very spacious and very clean. Brand new bathroom was sparkling. Washer and dryer were very handy. Was able to cook well in the kitchen, and even with older fixtures, was very well maintained. The heating was loud and a bit surprising, but like with any old home, comes with the territory. We didn't use the attic room, but it was very cute. Rita sent me all the details ahead and there were no hitches.

We loved eating at Historic Brewing Co. and the highlight of our trip was Bearizona. Left for the Grand Canyon early one morning, only took an hour or so, easy drive. The Visitor's Center and train were within walking distance. Safeway was only a couple of blocks away so we easily picked up groceries.

Thanks for a great home away from home!

Spring break 2017

  • 4 of 5

We are a family of 6. My husband and I along with our oldest son, his girlfriend and our younger son and daughter as well as our family dog. Our stay was nice, we didn't spend alot of time at the house because we were out and about enjoying all the area has to offer! The house accommodated our needs just fine. The bathroom was recently updated and very nicely done. An additional bathroom would have been nice, it gets a little crazy with 6 people to one bathroom but we're a close family so we made it work. This home is a great place for a family and we loved being within walking distance to everything!!

A very memorable Christmas spent here

  • 3 of 5

We travelled as a family of 4, Mum, Dad, son 20 and daughter who had her 23rd birthday here! The house is very homely and spacious. Two downstairs bedrooms very prettily decorated with good beds. Unfortunately, we didn't use attic bedroom as it was so cold. We were also quite alarmed at the heating system as it was quite noisy and the grill outside our bedroom entrance got very hot (perhaps it's because we're not used to this type in UK). Sadly we couldn't use the wood burner as our daughter is asthmatic. Plenty of seating for cozy nights watching TV and playing board games. Kitchen could have done with a couple of larger saucepans for cooking pasta etc and also instructions for oven would have been useful (again we don't broil in UK, we grill! We certainly made use of the fab Washing machine and tumble dryer though. This house is very quaint, like stepping back in time, but it is quite tired in places especially the bathroom. Williams itself has lots of restaurants to choose from although they do close quite early in Winter. Best bit is seeing the kids go on the Polar Express and there was a lovely Nativity Play in town too. Great supermarket nearby as well. We will always have happy memories of our stay here.

Winter Fun in Williams

  • 5 of 5

Family of four in Williams for three nights to see the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, hiking, etc. before heading to Vegas for New Year's Eve. Although 50 minutes from the Canyon, found the town very charming with friendly people and good food. Location of this VRBO very close to town center. Owners were very responsive to our requests. Lots of space, beds, supplies, etc.

Great place to stay in Williams!

  • 5 of 5

Very nice home. Comfortable and Nicely stocked with dishes, cookware, coffee pot, etc. Has a little bbq grill and washer/dryer as well. It's a couple block walk to town and the grocery store is only 7 blocks away. We will definitely be coming back.

Couple of challenging things... Only 1 bathroom and the attic bedroom is cute, but up steep stars. Probably good for a family, but I wouldn't recommend out for 2 or 3 couples. Beds are ok.
