Interested in “flying” into tourist mode? Make this your peaceful home “nest” to come back to after a day of serious shopping at the outlet stores in Kittery (3 hr drive) a trip through Acadia National Park & visit to Bar Harbor (2 1/4 hr drive) or, head to Greenville & Moosehead Lake (51 min drive). It is Maine’s largest lake, beautiful, & moose outnumber people 3:1! Do some hiking, sightseeing tours/flights (try a moose safari) or some other summertime fun activities (whitewater rafting gets our vote)!
Leave for day trips and come back to relax & recharge at the peaceful “nest,” or spend your entire vacation here; escape the stresses and pace of a busy life. Take the canoe (3 person) or kayak (2 person) out to fish (4 poles provided) and, if you’re an early riser, you may just see a moose—we have! (Dawn & dusk are the best times of day to see them—Last time there, we saw a moose twice on our road, less that a half mile away!) Cranes and loons, of course, are regulars on the pond. (If you are interested in bird watching, go a step further & a Sibley’s guidebook for North American birds is on the bookshelf. Make sure to visit Stutzman’s Farm Stand and Brick Oven Cafe & enjoy a meal w/the locals.
Swimming is always at your own risk. Life jackets/preservers are provided in various sizes, as well as beach towels for lake use.
Linens & towels are provided. Please bring your own toiletries. If you forget anything, there are local stores in Dover Foxcroft, just 9 miles away (20 minutes).
Wood for fire pit provided.
Four fishing poles provided but tackle is not, please bring your own.
*New updates in August ‘18 include a paddleboard (test your balance while having fun and unintentionally gaining a great workout😉), two picnic tables, and an outdoor gas grill.
