Nice property, as expected

  • 4 of 5

I took my family here for a two night stay. some adults and some kids, 10 total. There was room for everyone. 3 queen beds and an array of couches and chairs. The place was clean and well taken care of. The hot tub was on and hot when we got there! Kitchen was well stocked. As other reviews stated, the water pressure sucks, but you're in the woods, "roughing it" it's not a big deal. Plenty of linens and towels. Kids liked the random games around the house. Lots of chairs for outside, but we didn't get to use them because it rained the whole time we were there. The cushions were soaked, but I'd imagine it would have been nice to sit around the fire ring. We liked the open floor plan and how close it was to the attractions we wanted to see while there.

I love this place

  • 5 of 5

Our family and friends had such a wonderful time here. We had a total of 6 adults and 4 kids and our family dog and there was plenty of space. The hot tub was sparkling clean and we spent a lot of time in there (especially during the snow...it was beautiful). It snowed several inches during our stay which made it even more perfect. The place was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped. The fire was so cozy. The owners were very courteous. I would definitely recommend a get away at Corey Cabin. We didn't want to leave!

Be aware

  • 1 of 5

This property is not as advertised. In addition to that the property manager was not helpful at all. They didn't return our phone calls for several weeks (over 1 month) after our stay.

Pros:

1- House had a very nice kitchen.

2- Beds were very comfortable.

3- Excellent location

Cons:

1- No propane gas for grill. Owner had 1 tank and expected the renter to fill it as needed. However, this wasn't communicated to us till they contacted us, several weeks after our stay, in response to our issues.

2- Hot tub was out of service and looked like that was a blessing in disguise. There was zero notification that the hot tub was out of order. We found out several weeks after our stay when they finally returned our calls that an electrical storm destroyed the motors. I understand things happen, but a heads up would be nice. I assume the owners or property manager is on site between renters so they should be on top of all issues. Plus the overall condition of the hot tub was extremely poor and dilapidated.

3- The gas grill was rusted out. All the internals were extremely rusted. If we had propane we wouldn't have used the grill as we didn't want rust in our food. Covering the grills with foil wouldn't have solved the entire problem. The owner contacted us several weeks after our stay and said they were correcting this issue. I give them credit if this is true.

4- House had a stale cigarette smoke odor. When the owner returned our calls several weeks after our stay they told us the smell was from the wood burning fire place. Not sure I agree.

Use this information as you will in making a decision on where to stay. I hope this is helpful. It's a shame the property wasn't in better condition. It truly has great potential in a great area.
