Cozy, comfortable slice of Jerome history
We enjoyed staying at the Pink Lady. She was just as promised... beautifully restored with all the updates to make it comfortable. Particularly liked the board walk out front, butler's pantry and books and magazines about Jerome and Arizona's history.
Thank you, Jennifer and Michael!
A Unique and Special Experience
This house is wonderful. It is furnished in a whimsical fashion, with Victorian furnishings and many special touches. The house was clean and comfortable.
Beautiful property full of history!
We had a wonderful time in Jerome, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Pink Lady. Jennifer and Michael were so helpful and accommodating. The home has some great history attached to it being one of the original mansions for the mining executives built in the 1860's (check out the video at the Jerome Museum to find out more about the amazing Jerome history, including the homes along the boardwalk). I absolutely loved all of the antique decor. We were only there for one night, so spent most of that time in town walking around. You can expect a lot of walking up and down hills in Jerome, and yes, steps. There are steps as one way to get from one road to the other, and there are steps to get up to the house. For us, they were not a problem. Jennifer messaged us first on VRBO to ask if those are an issue before finalizing booking, which is really nice. Everything was clean, and comfortable in the home. We can't wait to return and make use of the antique replica kitchen stove, and the porch with that beautiful view!
Worth the stairs!
Yes, this property involves a LOT of stairs, but why not get a little exercise while you're on vacation? I lost five pounds during my stay at the Pink Lady and I couldn't be happier!
The home is beautifully decorated with period-type furniture, even the kitchen stove LOOKS like an old one but is actually digital. The view from almost every window is fabulous... you can see the red rocks of Sedona and all the way to the San Francisco peaks in Flagstaff. Sunrise or sunset, you'll want to be on that lovely patio.
The hummingbirds on the side patio provided us with many hours of entertainment as they flirted with us and each other. A particularly friendly neighbor cat, Gandalf, blessed us with his presence each day, and we met a few of the human neighbors, as well... Jerome is a friendly town for sure!
The only negative I can think of from my stay was that I couldn't find a can opener! My soup didn't need those black beans anyway!
So glad you enjoyed the Pink Lady, Gandalf and the hummers. Hope you had a wonderful celebration with your friends. We'd love to have you stay again.
Sorry about the can opener. It has been replaced. (I'm blaming this one on the ghosts!)
Such a cool place to stay! Amazing views, so much character, and 1000 worthwhile details.
The Pink Lady was one of the most unique places we've ever stayed. It's right in town, only a few steps from shops and restaurants, though we mostly just stayed in the house. There were so many places to sit and admire everything around you. The place is a work of art.
Not for everybody but perfect for some
This house was very cute on first sight. The Victorian character has been captured in every way. It was obvious that the owners put love and care into its remodel some years ago. I appreciated the uniqueness of the home and the loving touches placed throughout. It was spacious and comfortable - until you wanted to sit down and enjoy the ambiance or watch tv or go to bed. Jerome is a very dark night sky town and shuts down early. There isn’t a lot to do after dark.
With respect to all the other reviews giving this house a 5 star rating, IMO form and function go hand in hand in a room. Form was present in spades but function was noticeably absent from the comfort standpoint. The couches in the front room were dilapidated. They are worn out, torn and dirty. There were no chairs in the front room so no alternate seating. The only tv is extremely small and difficult to watch due to the very uncomfortable sitting arrangements. The kitchen is fantastic, very cute and functional. I give it an ‘A’. The stairway to upstairs is very steep and narrow-15 stairs. Once upstairs it is an entire master suite. I loved the wood floors and the big claw tub. But again, I wanted to sleep in a comfortable bed. The double (not queen) bed slanted downwards and seemed short. It also seemed small and was quite rickety. There were two other beds downstairs, a double and a twin, which I can’t review I did not use them. Everything was Uber dusty. Much of the ambiance was displayed in locked cabinets which gave the house a slight feeling of being in a museum. If the owners would upgrade those pieces of furniture that supply much needed and wanted comfort when vacationing, I could recommend it for those of able body.
The house is built on the side of the hill characteristic of Jerome . General access requires many stairs (57) to the street and parking is a long way from the front door. The driveable access to the house is behind it (if you have an SUV vehicle) and can be used only to load and unload. There are many people who would love this house. It just wasn’t for me.
We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Our goal is to make the Pink Lady a wonderful experience for everyone. The house was built in 1898 and most of the furnishings are antique or vintage to compliment the house. Jerome is a lovely, quirky mining town with old homes and a lot of stairs and is not for everyone.
There are a number of activities in Jerome including the first Saturday of each month art walk, live music at the Spirit Room and a variety of events during the month of October for Halloween. Sedona is approximately 25 miles away with hiking, jeep tours and much more. Clarkdale and Cottonwood are about 15 minutes away and include the Verde Canyon Railway, antique shopping and wine tasting rooms.
