Amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this home. It was so clean and really was a blast to the 1950s past. This home has been so well maintained for years! It looks better in real life than the pictures. There are fun books to read with your kids, too. We were all so comfortable. Grandpa complained a bit about the temperature (no AC), but it really did stay comfortable for the most part with the breezes.

Having never been to Hawaii/Honolulu we didn't realize how steep the streets in this neighborhood are, which provides for absolutely spectacular views!

The perfect stay in Honolulu

  • 5 of 5

We had 4 lovely nights in this beautiful spot. It is ideally located for easy access to everything, but far enough away from the crowds to be very enjoyable. The view was spectacular, and we sat on the lanai in the mornings and evenings enjoying it to the fullest. The property was very clean and well appointed, and the kitchen was extremely well stocked. We enjoyed grilling and eating on the lanai. Cristin was very helpful with pre arrival information, and very helpful during our stay as well. Our party of 6 (4 adults and 2 teenagers) found the space to spread out, and we have no complaints. We highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience Honolulu without staying in Waikiki. You do need a car, but parking is no problem, and access to everything is just minutes away. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home.

Sensational View in a Comfortable Home

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time in this comfortable, three bedroom home. The view from the lanai, living and dining rooms and master bedroom was spectacular from early morning to late at night. The home was spacious, with a well equipped kitchen. I really loved the neighborhood. We took some nice morning walks up to a park and down to the town for coffee. The Kaimuki neighborhood has some great restaurants that we enjoyed (The Edge, KokoHead Cafe, To Thai For and The Curb). The location is very close to the H-1 for easy drives to Waikiki and other locations to the east and west. The hosts were very welcoming. This is a great home to stay while visiting Oahu!

5 Adults + 2 kids * 2 weeks = Outstanding Value = Relaxed Vacation

  • 5 of 5

[actual dates were Nov 8-22, 2014, but VRBO won't go back that far]

We loved this rental! Our family of 3 grandparents, 2 parents and 2 kids stayed here for 2 weeks when we celebrated my grandson's baby luau (the luau was at another relative's home). This was a perfect arrangement for our large group - we had room for the 1-year-old's crib, plenty of room for us all to eat both indoors and on the lanai, and a large enough kitchen for 3 cooks to move about without conflict. We even hosted some local family for dinner, with plenty of room. Having laundry facilities on premises was a god-send with such a crew, too.

The location on Maunalani Heights affords a spectacular view of Diamond Head (center), Koko Head and the ocean (left) and Waikiki / Honolulu city (right) -- panoramic! There a few things better than waking up to Kona coffee and sunrise lighting up Diamond Head, or winding down the day with a cold beer and sunset over Waikiki.

And there's the opportunity for morning exercise just walking down Sierra Drive to breakfasts in Kaimuki -- and then walking back up Wilhelmina Rise to burn off the calories.

Cristin was hospitable and friendly, and accommodated us for an extra day when we asked (at an extra day fee).

Parking was a challenge (we had a Ford Focus and a Dodge minivan), but it worked -- the smaller car fit into the garage, and the minivan fit on the street. We were always able to find a parking space within a half-block of the house.

I would love to use this property again when we bring a large group to Honolulu, and have recommended it to others traveling to Honolulu.

Outstanding Value.
