Why Beth Trebilcock chose Asheville Area

My home is extremely private, up in the woods. Connect with nature in a very serene setting. Kind of like camping with a luxury home.

Relaxing Mountain Retreat

My family (my parents, my brother, my husband, myself and our dog) stayed at this house from Christmas through New Year's and had a fantastic time! The house was very comfortable and roomy enough that five adults didn't feel like we were falling all over each other all the time. All the beds were comfortable. The basement would be great for children, as there are lots of toys (and a piano!!), but it was also great as an "in-law" suite for my husband who likes to stay up later than the rest of us. Both Beth and Dave were fantastic to work with, and Dave very kindly checked up on us via telephone when the forecast called for storms. We often rent houses in various cities all over the world, and this house is at the top of the list.

For those with pets, Asheville is a very pet friendly city! If you go in the summer, most of the restaurants have pet friendly patios. We went to the River Arts District, where most of the artists allowed us to bring our dog into their studios.

We rented this house for 4 nights and drove there from South Florida. Our first impression was that the house was very clean and well maintained. We have 2 young children, and the house was perfect for them. The basement had tons of toys and things for them to do. Beth, the owner, kept very good contact with us throughout our stay. She even kept us updated on the snow storm that was headed our way. Overall, this was a perfect home for my family and I would recommend it to anyone headed to that area. Thank you Beth!

Quiet, secluded in the middle of nature!

  • 5 of 5

It was a nicely decorated room, cozy wood stove, lots of windows, good size kitchen, dining area, plenty of bedrooms 3 plus a large basement area with another bedroom with 2 twins and pull out futon etc. There was decking all around to look out over the woods. A very nice hot tub outside which we enjoyed with a glass of wine in hand. I walked every morning down the drive and to the bottom of the hill and back up. Wonderful area, got to see some peacocks. No bears visited while we were there. We found the location very central to all the places we wanted to visit. We enjoyed the Netflix movies we found every nite mostly chik flicks because we are the butterfly girls there are four of us age 60-67 The owner had linens and towels available, basic spices and condiments. The property was very clean and welcoming! She even left a bottle of wine, chocolate, and natural goat's milk soap for us!!! She gave me directions from the airport and from my house in TN. She also provided great tips on sights to see in and around Asheville and her tips were great! We loved Bear Wallow Mt. it was a great hike! We also loved the tour of Asheville she recommended. She even had a washer and dryer which one gal used. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family

We'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

My families stay here was absolutely wonderful!! Our two kids had a blast exploring the property and using the rope swing. The house was very clean and we were extremely pleased with the kitchen, the second bedroom was perfect for my mother and the kids loved having the basement room which had many toys for them to play with. We had lots of fun making smores at the fire pit. The owner was extremely helpful and accomadating.

Location, Quiet, Needs Some Upkeep.

  • 3 of 5

This place is a great location in reference to all of the activities indoor and outdoor activities. The owner is very kind and responsive should anything go on. There is a lot od space for group activitiws inside and to feel you still have privacy. But, the upkeep leaves something to be desired. Upon arrival the air was not on (despite 90 degree temp) and house was musty (we had to purchase air fresheners), the asvertised area of the firepit was grown over and rendered unusable (which was fixed mid stay), and the insect and spider population inside and out on the porches was prevalent and overwhelming. The owner warned us that as this is the mountains there would be critters which is understood plus this is not our first mountain get away. But, we weren't prepared for what was there and it took time to render certain spaces usable or we simply couldn't at all. There wasn't a door or not covered in spiders webs, a few wasp nests under the covered porch, and a substantial bee hive where bees could be heard through the kitchen cabinets when agitated. Between the must inside, the not usable firepit, and work to make porch usable it put a damper on the first two days. It may be something having a regular property manager or person checking in on could fix as it looked like no one had been there since the last date six weeks earlier. But, worth mentioning as we had to take time of the vacation to rectify. Beds were very comfortable. Grill is SMALL and charcoal, but works great. Hot tub is a great plus and works great. There is a great forest view but not mountain view. Great view of stars at night. The rental comes with just the basics as to supplies and amenties- no extra towels, toilet paper, pillows, and a hodge podge of kitchen items including kiddie/todler stuff- except wine glasses. Should have what you need, but not fully stocked like some other rentals- so go first then hit th stores for what you need. Good stay, great vacation. Hiccups fixable!

Owner's Response: Glad to hear this renter had a good time. Glad he enjoyed my beautiful, unique home. We do have stemless wine glasses as the others seem to break. I do supply very nice towels for the guests. definitely toilet paper. This is honestly confusing to me. Our kitchen is fully stocked with spices and oils, all utensil, pots, pans, dishes.... Again, I can only offer that this is confusing to me. Not sure what this guest expected. Sorry the A/C was off upon arrival. Perhaps that is why it seemed musty. We have no mold, or mildew in my home, I am certain. I sincerely apologize for that first impression you had. I don't always turn on the A/C because my home is rated as super energy efficient and once the air is on it takes less than 15 minutes to cool. Many guest prefer the cool nightly breeze as temps fall . Nightly temps reach 60 *. The firepit was for sure a bit messy but we have had a burning ban in effect . We are in a drought as I explained to this guest. The ban has been for months and was unexpectedly lifted they day he arrived. Fire pit was spruced up (leaves cleared) within hours of his request. We had spiders, is the mountains of NC. INSECTS WERE OUTSIDE ONLY . I truly believe, with all due respect, the spider issue is a personal issue ,and his perception was greatly exaggerated..The month of July is the worst for spiders in NC. They make webs daily.. I feel fortunate to understand the way creatures help us and how harmonious the natural world works. HAVING SAID ALL THAT- I HAVE CONTRACTED WITH PEST CONTROL AND THE SPIDERS ARE NOW GONE- WITHIN ONE WEEK OF THIS GUEST'S DEPARTURE. I did IMMEDIATELY get rid of the hornet nests after this guest left.- I appreciated them making me aware of this important issue ! They spring up fast, too. (We are nestled in the woods.).We are surrounded by forest with mountain views in the winter. It is lovey and serene.Very unique and special...The fall season is absolutely lovely. This , perhaps, is not for everyone. I also did not charge this guest extra for the extra cleaning charge by my housekeeping service (first time I have been charged extra ) after he left. .I mentioned this to him as truly an FYI so when travels again with his dogs he won't have trouble with deposit return. I was trying to be helpful. I hope that did not insult him and agitate him. Thank you for reading. So relieved this guest still had a very positive experience ! All my other reviews are positive
