Enjoy a quiet, peaceful vacation in a secluded rustic original Lucerne-in-Maine cabin nestled among mature trees on the side of a mountain. Our cabin, built in 1929, has 2 bedrooms, a screened porch, a sun filled dining room, and, a 16x24 ft. deck, all overlooking scenic views of Phillips Lake and the surrounding mountains. You will enjoy the outdoors the entire time you spend at our cabin. We have provided almost all the amentities you will need; including all cooking utensils, linens, outdoor furniture, fire pit, propane or charcoal grill. Or, spend some quiet time in the cabin enjoying a fire in the granite fireplace while watching the 42' Plasma tv with directv, dvd player, WIFI, and much more.
When you venture out to explore Maine's beauty; you will be located 10 - 15 miles from Bangor / Brewer, Maine to the north & Ellsworth, Maine to the south; both of these areas have Super Walmarts and any other possible ammenity you may need.
Further to the south (34 miles) is Bar Harbor, Maine; Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Or, take a drive down coastal Rt. 1, where you can stop at several roadside flea markets, antique shops, scenic views, and, restaurants along the way.
To the north is Moosehead Lake in Greenville, Maine where you will enjoy more scenic views. Moosehead Lake is 40 miles long where a ride on the 'Katadin' river boat is a wicked way to capture all the views including Mt. Kineo.
A short distance further to the north is Baxter State Park. This area is more than 20 sq. miles of forest to explore with scenic water falls, lakes, wildlife, and the magnificant Mt. Katahdin...the largest mountain in Maine.
I have lived in this area for 18 years, and I have not been able to see everything Maine has to offer.
We have thought of almost everything! All you will need to bring is groceries, your clothes, family, friends, and your toothbrush!
Come join us for an amazing, restful vacation; fulfilled with beautiful, peaceful scenic views of Maine. I believe you will come back again and again.
If there is anything we may have forgotten or something special you would need during your stay, please ask.
The cabin was charming and a great location. They replied right away to any questions we had and anticipated all our needs...even ones we hadn't considered. The deck was perfect for grilling and entertaining. Check in and out were easy, breezy. I would highly recommend this place, and would stay here again if planning another trip to Acadia/Bar Harbor area. Loved it. Thanks for your hospitality.
We had no problem finding the place. Everything was ready for us as per cabin description. We have spent most of our time on Mount Desert Island discovering amazing Acadia National Park. Visit Lobster Hatchery at Mount Desert Oceanarium, our kids loved the place. If you are looking for a rustic cabin in the woods, this is the one. After 8 days we did not want to leave.
We really enjoyed our stay here at the Lucerne-in-Maine cabin! The surrounding scenery is beautiful and it was only about a 45 minute drive down to visit Acadia National Park. We had rainy weather but still enjoyed cozying up in front of the wood burning fire place and sitting in the front porch room watching the storm! The home was well stocked with linens, extra toiletries, kitchen supplies, and drinking water so we didn't need to leave looking far anything we forgot! Thanks so much for a memorable stay!!
We loved this cabin! The wooded setting is absolutely gorgeous! I always am skeptical of the photos posted, as people can use angles and filters that make things seem nicer than they are. With this listing, though, the pictures posted are accurate to even selling the place a little short - you just have to see it in person! We spent 3 nights here in June. The cabin doesn't have heat, which we did not think would be a problem. Turned out the nighttime temperatures were dipping into the 40's, which made it a bit chilly. We just bundled up and went with it! It was still fun. We spent our days hiking and exploring Acadia and basically just slept in the cabin, fixing a couple of meals there, too. The kitchen is small, but it's quite functional and well-stocked. The decor throughout the cabin is sometimes over-the-top, but it makes it feel more like a home. With the rain, we did not get to use the deck, but it is large and has plenty of seating.
I highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to explore Acadia or just chill in the woods for a few days. Great place!
My husband and I have stayed at this cabin four years in a row, and we love it more every time. As others have noted, the owner has stocked it with pretty much anything you could ever need. We especially love the peaceful and beautiful views, huge porch great for bbq-ing, the fire pit at night-- and Sunset Point at the top of the little mountain the cottage is on, where you can see some seriously stunning sunsets. This is an authentic log cabin so yes, it's old and rustic, but it's very well taken care of. We love escaping the city and chilling out here, cooking lobsters, bbq-ing, relaxing and reading and getting out and enjoying all that Maine has to offer. But it's especially nice to have a cozy, unique place like this to return to and just hang out at and enjoy the nature around us if we don't feel like getting in a car. Thank you Jim and Dottie for sharing this gem of a place and we can't wait to come back next summer!
