We (Harry & Marcia) built this home in 2002 & have lovingly cared for it ever since. Our permanent residence is in Toledo, just 1 hr away & we come to Lakeside every weekend during the season to check over & maintain our property, as well as enjoy the ambiance of the Lake Erie shore and Lakeside. Harry owns a decorative hardware store & Marcia is a retired teacher.
Harry & Marcia Roby purchased this cottage in 2002
We love Lakeside and want you to grow to love it, too. It's a very unique place fostering Christian values in a lovely and safe environment for the whole family. If you love good clean fun in a breathtaking setting, you'll love Lakeside. It's a little bit like stepping back in time, a little bit like living in Mayberry.
I stayed in the vacation rental with my daughter (we shared the upstairs, right bedroom), my brother (who shared the upstairs left bedroom with a teenager), my mother and father. We stayed at the end of July and it was great. It was still pretty warm outside but we were able to stay very comfortable in the cabin. We kept the windows open for cross-ventilation and ceiling fans cinched the deal.
We were able to cook a variety of meals with the wide-range of dishes available in the kitchens. All of the amenities were clean and working properly as well as the cabin itself was super comfortable and clean.
I would definitely stay here again as well as recommend it to friends.
Friends and i, 6 of us rented both levels, stayed for the weekend to see lakeside and visit cedar point. We enjoyed the stay. It was easy to work with the owners to setup the rental. We spent most of the time outside of the rental but I had a pleasant night sleep. Comments were positive from my friends too.
I spent my summers growing up at Lakeside and have stayed in dozens of properties, within the community, for over 3 decades. My family, with two girls under the age of 10, had the pleasure of staying in the lower level of this home preseason. This was, by far, the nicest home I have stayed at in Lakeside. I am extremely particular about where I stay and read dozens of reviews on various websites before I will agree to stay any place. This home is located in a quiet, secluded area near the back of Lakeside, right across from the tennis courts. The view from the back porch is beautiful and if you're lucky, you might see deer as we did on two different nights. After speaking with the owner, Marcie, we were informed that it was a quick car ride or short bike ride to get to downtown Lakeside. This was not a problem for us and frankly we enjoyed the quiet. We brought our own tennis gear and our family enjoyed using the tennis courts several times each day. The house was very clean, with a well stocked kitchen, and and all of our interactions with Marcia were very pleasant. We are looking forward to visiting again soon with extended family and renting the entire unit.
We loved dealing with the owners. They made the rental process easy and answered all of our questions before booking. We stayed in the lower unit which was roomy and clean. The view from the front is of the tennis courts which are surrounded by large mature trees including several that shade the front yard. Our whole family had a lot of fun playing there. We rode our bikes and drove downtown everyday. The memorial gardens and nature trails are a short walk down the street. The view out the back patio door is of lush greenery and we watched a whitetail deer slip by one evening around sunset. We used the spacious kitchen for most of our meals. We liked the clean bathroom and bedroom. We used the living room for our air bed. We used the washer and dryer upstairs which was very convenient. The unit was comfortable, clean and in good working order. There was no traffic on our block and our days and nights were quiet. Our overall experience was relaxing and fun. We look forward to staying again.
We love Lakside!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Lakeside has many family friendly activites: music, swimming, a contract dance one night. This cottage had several board games and reading material. My wife liked how they had decorated the bathroom. We enjoyed watching the passersby on the front porch and the ability to eat outside on the back deck. We liked staying near the tennis courts (across the street). We either walked to the events or took one of the bikes provided. Beds were comfortable and clean. We'll stay again next year I'm sure.
My favorite nook in this spacious and open cottage was the front porch. It was great to kick back and read a book. Since there were so many trees it felt like you were up in a tree house. Nice kitchen with all the utensils you would need. The beds were comfy and everything seemed clean and orderly. I'll recommend this place to my friends.
