Your Home From Home Experience in Kas / Antalya / Turkey.
Introduction about Kas:
Kas is a small historical town on the south coast of Turkey. It was one of the most important marine cities and wine production sites of the Lycian civilization and is now surrounded by rock tombs and ruins of the ancient city Antiphellos.
Right across Kas, there is the Greek Island Nisos-Costellorizon . It is only 3 miles away from Kas. There are daily excursions by boats to Nisos-Costellorizon and also to another antique city of Lycian Civilization called the Kekova Island.
1km (50 miles) southeast of Fethiye; 229km (142 miles) southwest of Antalya; 25km (15 miles) east of Kalkan; 109km (68 miles) southeast of Dalaman Airport.
Kas established itself as the more popular of the two in the 1960s and 1970s, first as a 'hippie' hangout and later, as another ideal stopping point for yachts and gulets on the Blue Voyage.
The abundance of outdoorsy activities around Kas has also helped to maintain its reputation as a relaxed, satisfying, and generally inexpensive holiday place.
Kas Restaurants: The food in Kas is just splendid. The good food alone will ensure you take back good memories of your Turkish holiday. Many of the Kas restaurants give you the best view of Kas from their terraces, and they make for great places to enjoy a drink while watching the sunset.
The lights of the Greek island Meis at night and the sight of the marina are worth catching from the Kas restaurants terraces.
Kas shopping & Night Life: Kas Shopping:
Miles and miles of carpet shops, souvenir shops, and counterfeit sportswear have probably dulled your shopping instincts in Turkey, but Kas restores the pleasures of dallying among unexpected treasures, long forgotten after your departure from Istanbul. The old wooden houses along the side streets house wonderful little boutiques in a small-village atmosphere. But however great the selection of inventory may be, you can be sure to expect equally monumental markups. Pity the poor arrival with a keen desire for a souvenir during a limited stopover, and no bargaining acumen.
Kas takes on the glow of numerous golden lights strung throughout numerous gardens and candlelight flickering from many of the town's nooks and crannies. A spot in the water pipe corner or next to the torch-lit sea wall at Pasabahcesi, Hastane Caddesi, is made dreamier thanks to the creative decor: garlic bunches and gourds dangle from fruit-filled lemon trees.

Mr Erdem Dündar purchased this apartment in 2002
Villa Dundar has breath taking views of the unspoiled town, the crystal clear sea and Taurus Mountains in Big Pebble Beach area.
The views from the living room and balcony is the unique benefits.
Watching the sunset is unforgetable.
We had 2 fantastic weeks at Villa Dundar & would definitely recommend it. Our apartment was clean, comfortable & spacious, & the pool & garden were lovely. (The pool is around 6ft deep with no shallow end - so not suitable for younger children.) The family live downstairs and were welcoming, friendly & very helpful. Highlights of the holiday include: dolphins following our boat on the way to Kekova, the kids finding a wild tortoise wandering through the garden, & the huge balcony with a truly stunning view across the sea to Kas town & harbour....watching the sun go down & the little boats returning to harbour with a glass of wine in hand."
The property is located a little way out of town, which we considered to be a good thing, looking for a bit of peace and quiet as we were. There is a pebble beach nearby, within walkng distance that is quite adequate. There is also a 2-3 km walk through the fields along the Lycian Way to the next bay to the east. We had the top floor apartment which has amazing views to the west towards Kas and the peninsular. Being on the top floor gave us the advantage of any breeze which was always very welcome. The apartment is in good condition. Swimming pool is in very good condition and nicely located with plenty of shade. The owner is very nice and the whole family very approachable. All in all we spent a very enjoyable week there.
My husband and I stayed 3 weeks in May/June 2010. We did not want to leave. We sought a clean, quiet place on the coast with great views, a pool, near a beach, with air-con and high speed internet in a beautiful area. Villa Dundar fit the bill perfectly.
The eldest son Erdem spoke excellent English as did his father Tevfik and brother Ergun. This lovely family plus mother Gonul made our stay a very special experience of Turkish hospitality. We rented the two-bed top floor apartment.
The villa is an oasis of peace. Set on a ridge above Big Pebble Beach with unobstructed views over the sea, the boats, Kas, the peninsula, the mountains and surrounding hills and countryside. We could even see the ruins of the ancient amphitheater in Kas.
We practically lived out on the big balcony. There is a lounger, a great hammock and table and chairs. With it's tiled floor, double french doors and vaulted wood ceiling it was like an extra living room. It was cool and shaded. The other balcony off the master bedroom had great views too and got the sun which would be great in cooler months.
Below you are surrounded by trees and flowers in the large garden and pool with the hills, mountains and bays beyond. There was beautiful birdsong, the hum of cicadas and the soothing sound of the sea washing over the pebbles on the beach - magic. It's like living in a national park. The world famous Lycian Way hike goes right by the house and when you walk into town you are walking on it.
The villa is a comfy beach house in homey Turkish style. It is spacious, light and airy with screens on some of the windows. Lovely sea breezes and lots of windows kept the house very comfortable. The air-con worked very well too.The main bathroom has electric water heating that was best set on 2 or 1. The master ensuite had a small shower stall with no curtain, but was useful for the extra toilet and basin. The kitchenette had a 3 hob gas burner, an electric grill and a big fridge/freezer. We used the barbeque almost every night. There is no oven. Plenty of dishes and utensils.
We didn't have a car. The beach was an easy walk down the hill and there were 5 or 6 restaurants. We often walked into Kas (30 minutes) and came back on the dolmuses with groceries. Each morning the baker van toots his horn outside and you can buy your fresh bread. There is a water cooler and drinking water is delivered to the house. Kas is a sweet unspoiled gorgeous Turkish town. Highly recommended.
This place is just great to come down, relax and forget all your stress! Not only the stunning view, but also the silence and "gemütlichkeit". The family is very nice and welcomed us with tea and biscuits. You feel at home but still have your privacy. The apartment is spacious, cosy and absolutely clean. And Kas itself is a beautiful, not too little and not too much touristy, little town. You just have to be aware that you dont live in the middle of the town here and its not a good way to walk. But that did not disturb us at all but rather supported our relaxation! Thanks a lot for a wonderful holiday!"
We had a fabulous stay at Villa Dundar, the owners couldnt have been more attentive, being helpful and friendly without being intrusive. The location was a dream, with the only noise being of the ciccadas. We made great use of the dolmus backwards and forwards to Kas, mixing up our outings with relaxing by the pool or the short walk to the pebble beach. Even with 3 teenagers we had no complaints about lack of things to do! Ergun spoilt them on his boat trip. I have already recommended it to friends and family
