If you're into bird watching and/or photography, this is a great place for both! Using the cabin as a base camp, you'll be able to explore Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Cleveland National Forest ,Anza-Borrego State Park with their many trails and viewpoints; fish for Florida bass, smallmouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and even white sturgeon (Yes, our lake has sturgeon!); picnic on Fletcher Island; go boating; or just take in the peaceful surroundings and vast views from the comfort of the cozy cabin! Open year-round, including the snowy winter months when you can take advantage of the local sledding and snowboarding terrain. Available by reservation only, so plan early! Guestbook comments from the owner

John,

Just wanted to say thanks for our time at the cabin. It was a great experience! Definitely cool and quiet at night which was a welcome change. The kids enjoyed being able to see all of the stars from the deck. The grill worked quite well for hot dogs and corn on the cob. I appreciate your son coming by to make sure all was well. We were blessed in being able to stay there. All the best to you and your family! - Brian & Ericka

family fishing trip

  • 4 of 5

Rustic, but clean and comfortable. You get a nice breeze when on the deck and a great view of the lake. Although only one bathroom, we found that the cabin accommodated 4 adults and 2 young children very well as we never felt cramped. The owners were great to work with, very responsive to e-mail inquiries. Biggest disappointment was our unsuccessful fishing, learning that people had poached the lake, stripping the lake of fish. Coming from Washington state, I booked this cabin to visit with my brother and his family. He would definitely book the cabin again for camping and fishing trip with his friends.

Charming

  • 4 of 5

Had a great stay at this Lakeside cabin. Our little family and dog had plenty of room, beautiful views, quiet neighbors and a great time.

If you are planning to cook there is a full kitchen, but bring salt, pepper, dish soap and a sponge to wash your dishes!

Easter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Lake Cuyamaca Lodge for an Easter weekend getaway. Upon arriving I was greeted by the owner Joann and given a tour of the lodge. Joann has done an amazing job creating a warm and beautifully decorated rooms with luxurious bedding. There are several rooms that have a direct view of the lake but all guests have access to the patio to enjoy the views. Having coffee each morning watching the sunrise over the lake was an added bonus. There is great hiking from the lodge and it is the perfect place to stay for your next outdoor adventure. I will be staying again and have recommended to all my friends. The lodge is currently for sale and would make a great investmnent. Please contact Joann to book a stay or tour if your interested in purchasing.

Lake Cuyamaca was full!

  • 5 of 5

Everything we needed was provided including dishes, towels and firewood. It was great hiking around the lake and browsing shops in town. Bring food for dinner during the week as only one restaurant was open in town on Wednesday when we were there. Very peaceful. We saw lots of deer and a few turkeys.
