Guestbook comments from the owner

John,

Just wanted to say thanks for our time at the cabin. It was a great experience! Definitely cool and quiet at night which was a welcome change. The kids enjoyed being able to see all of the stars from the deck. The grill worked quite well for hot dogs and corn on the cob. I appreciate your son coming by to make sure all was well. We were blessed in being able to stay there. All the best to you and your family! - Brian & Ericka

Love the location and the value

Second time here, will come again, made upgrades to furniture. Love the cozy home. Expressed to owner the wifi/router was unreliable, hopefully will replace, keeping it 5 stars. Shouldn't need it if you want to enjoy the mountains and the space :)

Very inviting upon walking through the front door!

  • 5 of 5

Ginny and I really enjoyed the homey rustic feel. Fully equipped with all kitchen utensils, bath towels, phenomenal view of Lake Cuyamaca from the front room and front deck. Will sleep eight, perfect for four, ideal for two! Gas BBQ and dining on the deck.

Ginny and I will be back possibly in the spring!

Great place for a staycation!

Nice Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in the lodge very much. My husband was thrilled that fire wood was provided, that was a big plus - also the satellite TV to watch his Sunday football, he was one happy camper. It is so peaceful and tranquil out there, the famous turkeys marched by the cabin every morning. Our dog loved it as well, he laid on the deck all day sunning his belly. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are very comfortable. We can't wait to come back.

Nice Weekend Retreat!

  • 4 of 5

Situated on a great location overlooking the lake, the cabin has a large deck that provides a shadey space to relax and enjoy the great outdoors with gentle breezes caressing you. There are birds in the trees that like it if you leave a little birdseed out for them. Deer and turkeys casually pass by and forage in the grassy meadow. The living room has a great stone firplace, each bedroom is well appointed and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen has all the essentials and there is a gas grill on the deck to provide wonderful steak, chicken and fish dinners. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub and a separate shower which are nice and clean. In the evening there are plentiful stars in the sky and it is peaceful.

We are frequent visitors and have always enjoyed our stays, however this time we noticed that there is a little wear and tear that needs attention. The seating areas are shot and both couches need replacement. Half of the strapping on the deck chairs was missing permitting one to sink through the seating area, these should be repaired. The nails on the deck need to be set as many nail heads are raised, catching bare feet. Our latest visit was during a heat wave and it would have been nice to have screen doors on the front and back doors as there were lots of flies and bugs that get in if you leave the doors open. The tub faucet is located through the tub wall but should be routed outside the tub to permit a couple to lounge in the tub together. Finally, the vinyl flooring in the bathroom could be replaced as it is worn out.

Otherwise, a great retreat in a wonderful location

Loved the view, the quiet and the beauty.

  • 4 of 5

Had a great time at this cabin. 7 heavenly days watching the wild turkey graze by from the deck, and even a couple deer bounced by. Very relaxing. 3 hikes around fletcher island and a couple days fishing. 10 minute ride to Julian for lunch and apple pie. The cabin has two spacious bedrooms with queen beds and a good size bathroom. The couches in the living room are getting a little worn out and not real comfortable but enough pillows to make do. There is no storage for packaged food and salt and pepper are the only condements provided. The bar-b-que on the deck works great. Took our dog everywhere with us, tho there are a lot of burrs out near the road. You'll spend most of your time out on the deck where the breeze is marvelous. The open windows in the house make a great cross breeze. Would consider coming back.

Peaceful and tranquil retreat with all manner of Wildlife putting on displays for your enjoyment.

This cabin is just right for the people who get the true meaning of being one with nature without roughing it. It is perfectly perched on the hillside facing beautiful Lake Cuyamaca and the surrounding hills make for a picture perfect location. The cabin is lovely and one of my personal favorite things, were the refreshing and wonderful thermals that breeze through as the day goes by, making lazy day porch sitting a welcoming activity. Wildlife abounds and is literally in your face, and if you have Any Love for Birds ,you should come here for sure. The kitchen window faces a lovely pine tree that a red tailed hawk seems to love and as soon as I open the blinds, there he is looking right at me in all his magnificence.Wild turkeys were seen everyday, several times a day, woodpeckers and jays and the turkey vultures gave an Incredible show every afternoon and just soared right in front of the cabin enjoying the strength of the warm thermal winds, it was spectacular. There were deer, squirrels, coyotes turkeys, bats, it was incredible! We went fishing and hiking, and we just hung around the amazing porch and sat in awe of the colors in the sky and the silence. Sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking, the cabin was impeccable and had Every single thing they said it would,it was cozy and we felt at home.We can't say enough about how perfect this was for us and we're already looking ahead to our next visit. This cabin is a true gem!
