I am writing this review because I believe no matter what ads or pictures say, they say only so much and reviews make a huge difference. With that said, I don't know if I can find the right words to express this amazing Hawaiian oasis. As soon as we drove up it was simply breath taking as good as the photos are it does not do this amazing home justice. There isn't one negative thing to say, the house was very comfortable, spacious. and inviting. Every single room was amazing, not one great room and the rest just alright, each and every room was awesome. The pool and lanai was perfect the sunset and sunrise left you speechless. I seriously could go on and on. In closing this review I have to thank Adam the caretaker, he is awesome what a great person, and there if you need him in a minute with great advice for all kinds of things. It was the best experience I have ever had. I cant say it enough. We will be back for sure. Mahalo
This house is amazing for a wonderful Hawaiian getaway! Our party had 10 people and still felt like there was so much space in the house. The house is very private surrounded by acres of beautiful exotic plants, including tropical fruit trees. While still maintaining privacy, the backyard is wide open with a 180° elevated view of the ocean and faces west for gorgeous views of Kona sunsets. The shoreline is just minutes away which made it so convenient to enjoy snorkeling and paddle boarding anytime. After the beach, we'd go home to enjoy the rest of the afternoon in our private infinity swimming pool. It was so relaxing to watch the boats in the ocean with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset. There are many local restaurants nearby serving authentic Hawaiian food and Kona coffee farms which offer free coffee! The house caretaker, Adam, is a very nice and handsome young man (he's taken ladies) who will be there to help whenever you need. If you don't need him, you won't see him. If you want a rental house to feel like home (or even better), this is it. We hope to return someday soon to capture more wonderful memories.
We stayed here from 7-3 to 7-10-2015 and just loved it. The house is really beautiful and is situated high on a hill above Keauhou. Everything is very nicely appointed and comfortable. The view from the back patio is awesome all day long and especially at night. We had six in our group and were very comfortable. The place could easily accomodate 10 people. The bedrooms are large. The kitchen, dining area and living room all flow together nicely, and with a lot of space. There are vast gardens with many fruit trees surrounding the property, and it overall has a great sense of privacy. They have a caretaker (Adam) living on the grounds in a separate house to maintain the property. He is both very helpful and very quiet. Basically you won't know he is here unless you need him and then he is available quickly. Great guy. We have rented many houses for vacation and this by far was my favorite .
We just got back from 8 days at this lovely home. If you read all the reviews, then you know what I am going to say. The ocean view is spectacular, but even the makua (hillside) view is superb because of the lush vegetation. If you are into fresh mango, lychee nut, etc. for breakfast everyday, this is your spot. We are grandparents who traveled with our daughter, son in law, and 3 1/2 year old and 13 month old grandkids. The master bedroom is at one end of the house, and you absolutely have privacy from the other two upstairs bedrooms. When the grandkids were awake at 6 am, we could barely hear them. The kitchen is large and very nicely stocked. We were happy that previous guests have left condiments, alcohol, spices! We did the same. Groceries in Hawaii are costly, so everyone just passes stuff along! The infinity pool overflows to a little wading pool below- perfect for babies and toddlers. We did not occupy the downstairs so I can't review that. Adam is a wonderful caretaker- he's there for questions, answers, concerns, but he leaves you alone if that's what you want. He was very helpful and had wonderful suggestions. One thing not mentioned in previous reviews is that the home is supplied with a variety of Hawaii tour books that are very helpful.(We wouldn't have brought all of ours had we known that) The house is very airy (I adored and will miss the master bedroom), and the almost daily tropical rains were very refreshing. It's much more comfortable on the hill than beachside and your view goes on for miles. There are 7 acres to explore, so you won't feel hemmed in at all!. Comfy beds! There's even a wine refrigerator! There are lots of things for the beach- snorkel gear, umbrellas, beach chairs, coolers, thermos, etc. You won't have to go to the store to buy that stuff. In fact, some people gave us a bunch of brand new beach chairs, umbrella and mats (they couldn't fly home with them) so we donated them to the beach supplies. The washer dryer made life easy- we packed less and washed clothing along the way. We have one tiny suggestion-a couple of non-slip mats would be helpful immediately out the lanai door and immediately inside the door. With swimmers, the paved stone gets slippery and we put towels there so as not to track water into the house. The geckos in and outside are great for keeping insects gone! One thing that is nice to know, too, is that although you feel a million miles away, there is a store very close.
We had a wonderful stay at the Keauhou Sunset. The house was clean and spacious - plenty of room for 4 couples and a toddler. The bedrooms were all large, and the common areas were open and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, and there was beach gear (umbrellas, beach mats, coolers) that definitely came in handy.
Adam was really helpful with any questions we had - and he even cut down coconuts so we could all enjoy fresh coconut water! The fresh fruit on the property was abundant, and we enjoyed papayas and starfruit every day.
We highly recommend this house!
Our extended family stayed at Keauhou Sunset (VRBO #70739) for a week in early October 2014. We could not have been more pleased with the house, surroundings, and Adams support. The pictures of the house, pool, and surrounding acreage were very good but we saw that it was impossible to capture the true beauty of the estate and the views from the pool and lanai. The house was very clean, well maintained, and set up for easy vacationing and entertaining. The house was an easy drive from down town Kailua- Kona as well the great bays and beaches farther south on the Kona Coast. Perhaps the most impressive was the terrific supported provided by the on site property caretaker and gardener, Adam. We asked Adam dozens of questions about the estate, the fruit found on the estate, and the surrounding area. He provided recommendations for restaurants, snorkel sites, and places to see. Adam's low key and personable style made it easy and fun for us throughout the week. He was available when we needed him and working on other parts of the estate otherwise.
In summary, we were very pleased with our stay at the Keauhou Sunset and would recommend this place to our friends and hope to return some time in the future.
