There were three families (6 adults and 6 kids) that went for a much-needed fall retreat to the mountains. We are SO happy we chose this property. It was perfect for every personality that was there. If you wanted to explore the forest, get after it. If you wanted to relax and do nothing, go for it. If you wanted to enjoy a glass of wine, sit on the deck and enjoy nature, you got it. The cabin has everything you need. You can even plug back into society (great TVs for watching football and complete house WiFi) if you need to. This place was absolute perfection. The only thing I would change (and this has nothing to do with the property) is that I would like to go back just a little later in the fall so that the temperature is just a tad bit cooler. If multiple families or a large group are looking for a cabin to enjoy each others company, this is the place to go. We are planning on making this an annual event the three families and we will definitely be staying here again. Thanks Gaspard's for this wonderful getaway spot.

Our stay at Casa Buena Vista was such a wonderful experience! The house itself is everything you could ask for, with all the comfortable amenities and more. Of course the view is spectacular and when coupled with the peaceful quiet of the surrounding area, it provides a restful, yet stimulating environment. We especially enjoyed the wildlife - daily visits by a number of deer, including several large racked bucks as well as a few fawns with their moms. The morning and evening calls of the elk in the valley lended another touch of the wild. Of course, the heavens at night were breathtaking!!! With a clear view of the Milky Way and billions of surrounding stars, we stared upward in amazement at the surpassing beauty!

We enjoyed several day-trips within close driving distance: White Sands National Monument, the Space Museum and IMax theater, the historic town of Lincoln and nearby Ft. Stanton, the old town of Cloudcroft even higher up in the mountains with a lovely lunch at The Lodge, and the Valley of Fires (huge lava flow field). Of course, there's a lot to see in nearby Ruidoso as well. But it was always a treat to return to Casa Buena Vista, to the beauty of the setting and the comfort Jim and Dinah have so charmingly provided. Kudos to them for their thoughtful provision of a perfect mountain getaway that goes beyond expectations! Spectacular!

Owner's Response: Guests that come to stay at CasaBuenaVista for a month are rare but there's no question it affords you plenty of time to explore the area to the fullest and enjoy what Ruidoso and Southwest New Mexico has to offer. No rush, take them one day at a time; every outing presents another discovery to visit on another day. Or whether its bad weather or just a little under the weather that day, there's no better place to just stay in and enjoy the home and all it has to offer. Stay in touch with the world through our strong wifi/internet/TV network, or just grab a book to read from our extensive library of local lore (Billy the Kid, the Lincoln Wars to name a few), or drop in a CD to catch up on an old movie. Simple games, we have them all. Plus, the wildlife is abundant and frequent to entertain you every morning. No two sunsets are alike. Bob abd Bobbie, thanks for coming to our paradise in the mountains. We look forward to seeing you again someday. Jim & Dinah

Loved it

A great place to stay the house has everything you could possibly need and more! The decks where the best !! Great views and lots of birds and deer. Hot tub was really nice. And the game room was so much fun. There again it had every kind of game you could imagine. The master suite is very nice and roomy. Home was clean! We had 3 couples stay and since it has three levels we each had our own level to stay on.

The home is a little cluttered but we would definitely stay here again.

Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Owner's Response: Thanks for bringing your friends to share a mountain experience. Yes we like to clutter our vacation home with lots of decor from the Land of Enchantment and the colorful Southwestern US. If there was anything that sets us apart as memorable from the other 500 vacation homes in Ruidoso/Alto, maybe it was the unique bits of local native art, collectibles, memorabilia in a wilderness setting. We trust our guests to enjoy our family's personal finds from our years of travel and vacationing. Thanks for coming. Jim & Dinah
