Grew up in the Jacksonville, FL area, married my high school sweetheart, raised three sons, owned decorating business for 25 years and restaurant owners for 33 years. Six grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Purchased Unit B in 1984 for our vacation place, purchased other two units 1994, renovated the whole building and moved into the Unit C in 1995 and permanently lived there until 2010 and although still our main residence we moved inland to a one level home.
Sally purchased this Apartment in 1994
Why Sally chose Vilano Beach
My husband and I had visited a friends home in Atlantic Beach and realized how much we would enjoy living at the beach so we started looking and found our little piece of heaven. We needed a place close to our business and home in the Jacksonville area that would not take us long to get to and be able to enjoy as our vacation spot and weekends away.
What makes this Apartment unique
The views of the ocean: My husband enjoyed the roughness of the sea during a storm and I enjoyed the beautiful tropical color and calm of the ocean......the best of two worlds. So peaceful and relaxing

Great Place on the Beach
We enjoyed our stay. We liked that it was right on the beach. Plenty of room for the four of us. Appreciated having access to beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. Privacy if we wanted, but could also socialize with the tenants of the other units if we wanted to. We were able to bring our dog with us, which was nice. We would definitely go back and would recommend this place to friends and family.
Cathy and I especially welcome and love to share with our guests, that do not necessarily live in an area close to the ocean, all the beauty and peacefulness that we perhaps take for granted having lived always within seventeen miles or less of the ocean. It's definitely another world. We still have guests that continue to come back year after year to Surfside Retreat after thirteen, fifteen or twenty years. We hope that you will become one of those guests as well!
We had an absolutely wonderful time. This unit was absolutely perfect! We hope to come back very soon!
Great vacation spot!
We had a wonderful stay. The unit was charming, comfortable, and steps away from the dog-friendly beach.
The unit was nicer than the pictures
Place is nice and clean inside and in an awesome location on the beach, with just a short drive to St. Augustine. Everything about our place was great.
Surf side retreat- unit B. We loved it
The unit was very nice. Very private beach with few steps to get there. The only negative thing , that was beyond anyone's control, was we had to leave 2 nights early to evacuate from harms way of Hurricane Irma. Many prayers for all of Florida and of anyone in its path! God Bless
I hate that anyone would have their wonderfully planned vacation interrupted by anything including Irma. I feel bad about it but totally out of our control and I did feel it necessary that we reimburse this guest one nights stay. I hope that they will consider returning in the future and had a safe trip home.

Our home away from home!
Beautifully maintained, with special attention from the owner. Quiet and uncrowded beach. Everything we could ask for!
We, here at Surfside Retreat, are so happy to have our guests feel like it is their personal vacation home This is what we strive for.....for the guests to feel comfortable enough and love it enough, as I did, to want to return each year.
You would not lack of things to do or see! Fishing at Vilano pier, surf and charter boat fishing. Jet skies, para-sailing, kayaking, hiking, biking, scooters, horse-
back riding on the beach, horse draw carriage rides, trolleys, art galleries,
museums, live theatre, antique shopping, golf, tennis, outlet mall shopping,
sunset tours, not to mention visiting the Nations Oldest City! Only five minutes
away from all the activities offered by Saint Augustine. Vilano Beach offers a surf shop and six restaurants within a half mile to the south, one ocean-front restaurant (great Sunday Brunch) and two intracoastal (Tolomato River) restaurants with absolutely the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen
with outdoor dining within three miles to the north.
During the months of November-January you can enjoy THE NIGHTS OF LIGHTS. Spectacular white Christmas lights that illuminate the Nations Oldest
