About Valnora Leister and Mark Frazier

We live now in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and have owned the beach house for more than 30 years. Our family has wonderful memories of summer vacations filled with beach-combing, swimming, bicycling, and fishing. We hope you'll enjoy a vacation there too!

Valnora Leister and Mark Frazier purchased this house in 1983

Why Valnora Leister and Mark Frazier chose Virginia

The quality of the beach and the tranquil setting were what first drew us to Ophelia. The area has a wealth of history and opportunities for day trips on charter boats, ferries to nearby islands, and outings to memorable restaurants, museums and shops in Reedville, Kilmarnock, and Heathsville. Over the years, we've been able to add an upstairs deck, rooms, and amenities to the beach house. It is a place for fun and rest – and hard to leave!

What makes this house unique

Some of our favorite activities are relaxing on the upstairs deck and watching the osprey, bald eagles, pelicans, and dolphins go by. Views of sunrises over the Bay and sunsets on the Potomac are gorgeous. The salt water pool is easy on the eyes and a great way to cool off after hikes or long walks on the beach. An outdoor barbecue as picnic table sits between house and pool. Inside, we have comfortable and well air-conditioned spaces for meals and gatherings of friends and family.

Beautiful, peaceful, serene, nice place

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful and very peaceful! We saw the Dolphins and used the pool a lot. The only things I saw as inconvenient was I have we have a 2 year old and there was no bathtub to bathe him only stand up showers. Also, restaurants are only open like 4 hours a day or all the way closed. Very hard hours to work around. Cell service can be hard to get. Otherwise, house was nice and comfortable, awesome views and the pool was great! We made use of the great yard and did water balloons and corn hole! We had great memorable time with our family there! Thank you!!

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent Memorial weekend at Ophelia Beach House and what a memorable one it was! The location of the property is amazing with the beach at the end of the garden, it almost seemed like our own private beach as we hardly saw anyone during our stay. The house is lovely, lots of space and very well stocked with games and stuff for the kids to play with in the pool. Everything was lovely and clean and Mark (Owner) was there to greet us and show us around on arrival. Would definitely go back again! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great Stay on the Chesapeake

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay on the Northern Neck, and just loved the view. We had 7-10 adults at various times in the week and had plenty of room. We really appreciated and made great use of the full kitchen and the house was well stocked.. The sun-room and deck were both beautiful. We were a bit bummed out that there were SO many jelly fish (end of July), but we enjoyed kayaking on the bay (with kayaks we brought). With all the jellies and the extreme heat the week we were there, we were so grateful to have the pool, and spent most of our hours there. We did lose power twice, though only briefly, and during a big storm there was a ceiling leak (which has since been repaired). Mark and Val were very communicative when we had the power outages and leak, and they ended up being only minor and brief issues. Wifi was a plus! The pool and the views were definitely the highlight of our stay. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Perfect for our family get together.

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time at your beach house. It ticked all the boxes. From BBQ's, to beach fires, crabbing and avoiding jellyfish!! You have to try the crab cakes from the local fish store (only opens Friday's and Saturdays). Amazingly good.

The children absolutely loved having the pool and were in it most of the time , when we weren't out exploring. There were 10 of us and there is plenty of room in the house, didn't feel crowded at all.

The airconditioning was an absolute saviour!!!!!

It's remote setting was great, the noises reminded me of being in the Amazon.

Would love to return one day but it's a long old way from the UK :-).

Thank you for sharing your house with us Mark and Val. Xx

A Wonderful Week

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. The house is beautiful- You've done a fabulous job with all the remodeling. I really appreciated the a/c , the instant ice maker (!) and all the skylights. Steven and Griselda are taking good care of things and we wanted for nothing!
