From a previous renter:
We stayed at this delightful summer cottage two years ago and enjoyed every minute. Ah, the lake early in the morning when only the birds are up and a few fishermen (or women) are finding their way through the light mist. So peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed the hiking, swimming, canoeing. One day we took a ride to the Rangeley Lake country for lunch. We were sure to look out for the Moose as we wended our way through the scenic hills. Another night we went to Kewanhee Inn just a short distance from the cottage. We had a table on the porch, overlooking the lake. It was a delightful and delicious dinner. We were not much for cooking ourselves but the kitchen is fully equipped. We did make coffee but made a morning trip to a wonderful pastry shop a couple of miles away and picked up a delicious home baked breakfast to enjoy on the porch. The shop also makes wonderful box lunches to take on your hike. I hope it is still there. We found that relaxing after an active day in the wonderful rustic living room was a prelude to a rich, restful night of sleep. Of course, be sure to save going to L L Bean for a rainy day. It is about 90 miles away. A little further on is Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park -- but better to save that for another vacation (but do go). We are planning a late summer return to the cottage.
