Best Location in PDX

  • 5 of 5

Wow! I am a full time traveler, with no residence or street address. All my stuff is in storage, including my Prius. But Portland, Oregon is still my home town, with 3 sisters and brothers in law, and a lot of friends, and my mom, who turns 90 in May. So, when I’m not in Italy, Spain, Mexico or Costa Rica, I am in Portland. I’ve lived near PSU, I’ve lived on 23rd Ave, and other good locations in PDX, but I have to admit, this waterfront condo is the best place I’ve lived in in PDX. Portland is one of the coolest cities in the world, but the generous and liberal open mindedness can present some risks to your car and your possessions. In this condo, they have specified parking inside gates that are locked at 11 pm. After 11 you have to go through the gate that has 24 hour security. So I felt very safe, even leaving my bicycle in my car (covered by a sleeping bag) — the security guys are everywhere. And it is a quick walk over the skybridge to the train station and Wilf’s, one of Portland’s classic piano jazz venues. The VRBO pictures are 100% accurate — the accomodations are top notch — and it is well stocked with essentials like paper towels and all the stuff you need to cook and clean. These guys are over the top when it comes to providing stuff you might need. I had a minor scrape and went to the medicine cabinet — it is all there — no need to run to the store. I think I will just stay at this place whenever I’m in my hometown. It is awesome! And the neighbors are friendly and look out for each other. They don’t say this in the ad, but they have on the beach (river beach) fire pits, and there are a lot of stainless steel propane grills situated throughout the property, so you can cook just like you do at home. Can’t say enough good things about this VRBO. Location, five stars. Accomodations, five stars. Communication with the owners, five stars. If you are going to PDX when I’m out of the country, you should book this place. If I am in PDX, I will probably already have it reserved!!

A great place to stay.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the location and comfort of this property. We were in Portland for three weeks during the holiday season and easily hosted eight family members for several meals. The kitchen was well equipped and plenty of room for our family to enjoy. The owners were very responsive to a couple of minor issues that came up. My husband and I look forward to staying there again.

I was in town for work and lived here for about a month. The place was clean and quiet. It was perfect. I accidentally locked myself out one morning and Jessi was really nice about it.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

great location in the heart of Portland, walking distance to most places worth seeing, rarely used my car. awesome being right on the riverfront trail leading into the city. also nice waking up with a view!

condo is well stocked with everything needed for cooking/cleaning/entertaining. the pool, hot tub, and grill are close by and easily accessible.

only negative I have, which is no fault of the owner, is occasional noise from neighbors. (walls and ceiling are kinda thin, but not a deal breaker for staying here)

Not a good fit for us.

  • 3 of 5

Not really in the Pearl District and walking there was rather convoluted. It is a semi-basement apartment with no windows that open except for the "patio " door. Other windows (2) are on eye level and blinds must be shut for privacy. Makes it dark during the day, but great for sleeping past sunrise. The bed was comfortable and the apartment well-equipped.

It is just behind Union Station so you do hear trains. Also you can get trapped by them for 10-15 min. trying to drive anywhere as we discovered.

It was fun to be on the river and the Greenway is pleasant for walks. The pool is nice on a hot summer day.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We have never had anyone be unhappy with the location of condo before. We are downtown and there are trains close by, so inevitably you may get stuck if they are moving through from time to time. We have not had any issues with train noise being heard inside the condo, but I can see that if you are out in the area you might hear them. As for the windows, you are correct, the bedroom window does not open, but the kitchen window does as well as the sliding doors out to the riverfront patio. We are glad you found the apartment comfortable and well-equipped and hope that you come back to visit our great city another time.
