|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Don't spend your vacation in a cramped, musty cottage with neighbors crowding you from all directions. Relax in our 2400 sf year-round home, set on an acre of shade trees and tall pine, less than a block away from a beautiful, sandy beach with gazebo and bathhouse. Spread out at our Higgins Lake Retreat, relax, breathe the clear air of Northern MIchigan pine and lakeshore breezes.

I will second the opinion of the other reviewers regarding how big the house is, and how well laid out it is. It is perfect for families wishing for a Nothern Michigan get away. What we particularly liked was that you could have a large activity in one part of the house, but peace and quiet in another part.
Higgins Lake, which is unsurpassed in my opinion, is a short walk away. That walk will take you to a Township park, which has a nice sandy beach, a swimming area, chairs and clean restrooms. For golfers, a nice course is less than 15 minutes away.
We have already reserved for next summer!
When my husband and I rented this house, we had high hopes that it would be a good place to spend a week with our two grown daughters, their husbands, and our four grandchildren -- ages 3 and under. We were not disappointed. The rambling layout provided privacy for each family when needed, but we especially appreciated the enormous dining room where we could gather for playing games as well as eating together. The little ones thoroughly enjoyed running in the huge yard while the adults watched from the deck or pitched horseshoes. The township park was just a short walk away and offered a small playground as well as a sandy beach and calm, shallow water. This was the perfect place for three generations to connect, and on our last night we unanimously decided that we want to go back again next summer.
My three children and I had a terrific week at this spacious home, only a two-minute walk to a sandy, secluded beach (the water is warm and the sandy bottom goes out for over a hundred yards)--the lake is visible from the backyard. When we weren't in the lake we played foosball, made s'mores in the large firepit, pitched horseshoes, grilled on the huge deck, went canoeing on a local river, hiked the nearby state park, and even drove about 20 minutes south to Houghton Lake for miniature golf and go-karts. The house is only minutes from the freeways but is completely Up North. Large, well-equipped kitchen and even WiFi. Highly recommended!

We are five houses down from what we consider the best beach on Higgins Lake, tucked away in our freindly neighborhood where kids ride their bikes and neighbors take walks in the evening. The beach is a real beach, not a road end, that is beautiflly maintained by the township with gazebo, bathhouse, volleyball, sandy beach area for sun bathing, roped swimming area. The lake bottom is sandy and water clear and shallow for the kids to play.
