About Jayne Cohen

Lake Winnipesaukee is my favorite place to be from early May to late October!! We have lived on the lake all of our lives and been lucky enough to grow up by the water.

Jayne Cohen purchased this house in 2005

Why Jayne Cohen chose Lake Winnipesaukee Area

Wake up each morning and watch the sunrise on your very own private dock. Don't be surprised if you are greeted by the morning loons. See a different colored sunset each evening. Spectacular!!

We love it so much we live next door to our rental cottage. The cottage is well maintained by my husband and I. Our guests are simply friends we have not met yet! It is extremely important to us that we exceed your expectations and make your stay at the lake special!

What makes this house unique

Enjoy swimming, boating and relaxing in a private setting. Watch fireworks from the front yard. Swim anytime day or night. Enjoy beautiful sun rises and sunsets. Cottage is extremely private yet just a few minutes from town. See eagles, loons, minks, moose, deer and more especially during quieter times in the Spring and Fall. Close to all area attractions, restaurants and shopping.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My mothers and I had a wonderful time, even though most of the week was spent sightseeing, it was great to come back to the lakehouse. The view every morning was worth all the driving. The house was everything you described in the listing and more. Everything that we needed (except linens-which we were told to bring) was here and ready. I hope to return next year with my husband and two sons. They would love this house, being right on the lake they would never want to leave. Thank you so much!

Year 5 at the cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is our 5th year renting this cottage. We absolutely love it there. The cottage is as clean as they come. The yard is large and the beach is perfect. The sunsets are the best ones I've ever seen. The owners are always adding to the cottage. This year additions included kayaks & a built in fire pit! They are always so helpful and generous if we find we need something. You couldn't stay at a better place with better owners.

Perfect getaway for lasting family memories

  • 5 of 5

Nostalgic memories of a cozy lakeside cabin from our childhood set a high bar, and Jane's surprisingly roomy cottage still managed to exceed expectations. Our considerate host welcomed us to a clean, inviting vacation rental, with every detail ready for our immediate enjoyment. Smores, snacks, local coupons, firewood, fire pit, propane, cookware, boats, oars, life jackets, water toys... all there, and every surface luxuriously fresh and spotless! The adults and child were pleased.

The land is gorgeous, bigger than the photos suggest, and great for kids. Lots of grass to run around and play games on. Plenty of beach space. Best of all, the clean & clear water is shallow and gently graded for at least a hundred feet out, perfect for children and safety-minded parents. A small island, sandbar, and rocks to the left of the beach all keep boaters further out while providing a good visual cue of your kids' distance from shore. Those with fear of walking in muck will be happy to know the sandy bottom extends remarkably far. The sunsets and starry skies over the lake will melt your heart.

The building itself hits a sweet spot between the nostalgia of an old camp and a newer house with modern amenities. Plenty of space in every room. The living room affords a great view of the water, even from the kitchen, and is a great place for curling up with a book. We spend a lot of time on the screened porch playing board games and listening to the wildlife; a couple child-sized tables there were also perfect for kids' activities.

Most of our week was spent right at the cottage, but a couple outings into town and into the mountains hinted at future adventures to be had in the Moultonborough area. There are fantastic waterfall views along hiking trails at the edge of the nearby Ossipee Mountains. We would gladly hit up some of the local restaurants as well, next time.

I couldn't have imagined a better place to escape for a week to make some lasting memories with my family. Having to leave was the only sad part, but we'd gladly return next year. Thanks, Jane!

Spectacular lake front cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Our second year in a row at this cottage , booked a third upon departure - need we say any more? Well, let us explain why. The cottage is very very clean and charming with beautiful views of the lake, well stocked kitchen with everything you need for cooking and dining; just bring your food. We enjoyed the new keurig coffee maker nothing like a great cup of coffee early in the morning to bring down to your private beach with stunning views of the lake. We absolutely love the yard it's practically level with a gentle slope to a sandy beach and large dock. Our grandson is almost 3 and had a blast, the beach into the water has a gentle slope as well and is very kid friendly. We enjoyed the use of the row boat for fishing and the cottage also offers the use of kayaks and conoe. We miss the stunning sunset 🌅 so make sure you have a camera ready. Lastly the owners Jayne and Wayne are two of nicest people you will ever meet and genuinely care that your vacation is special and go out of their way to accommodate any needs you may have. They live next door and are respectful of your privacy but if you need them, they're just a call away. Thank you Jayne and Wayne for another wonderful vacation, see you next year!

Wonderful cottage on a gorgeous lake

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful little cottage on a gorgeous lake. The beach area is sandy, you don't even need water shoes. We saw 3 families of ducks complete with ducklings, several geese and gosling families, chipmunks galore, and pretty birds. There's fish in the lake, and more importantly, a friendly neighborhood bear graced our presence as he took a stroll through the backyard and sniffed around a little but mainly appeared to take in the gorgeous lake view. The trees are very tall and old; you really feel like you're in a forest, and yet the cute town of Meredith is only 20 minutes away. The king size bed slept very well, and no complaints about anything inside the house. Hope to be back soon!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us and then sharing your experience with other travelers. During the spring and fall, when the lake and the area are quieter, it is not unusual to see some wildlife - loons, eagles, deer, moose and yes even a bear occasionally. The setting is very private yet 5 minutes from the towns of Moultonboro and Center Harbor, so when you have to leave to get something, civilization is just around the corner. Most importantly we are very happy to learn that you had a wonderful time and intend to return again. Our guests' satisfaction and safety are our top concerns! Jayne & Wayne Cottage Owners
