Riverbend Lake house is located on Lake Dunlap, downstream from where the Guadalupe and the Comal Rivers merge together. This part of the Guadalupe River opens up wide and maintains a constant water level that is ideal for swimming. Here, you will see jet skis, boats, wake boarders and fishing boats go by while you swim and float in the privacy of your own back yard. It is located 7 miles from downtown, the Comal River, historic Gruene, Schlitterbahn, resturants, live music and the new Creek Side shopping center. Drive or have a shuttle pick you up from the house and take you up River Road to float the upper Guadalupe. Afterward, escape the crowded camp grounds of River Road and the congestion of downtown to relax in the peaceful privacy of your own back yard where you can swim or just sit in an inner tube and enjoy a can of beer without fear of getting a ticket! We are a dog friendly rental with a fenced in yard to secure your pets. The water is 4 ft deep along the waterfront but gets deep quickly. There is a ramp in the boat slip for the 4 legged friends and a ladder for humans or just jump in! The river access is only feet away from the house, so there are no steep hills or stairs you have to climb to get to the water. The boat slip has a boat lift for those who want to bring your own boat or jet skis. There are also jet ski rentals available in the area. This is an ideal vacation home for family reunions because both the upstairs and downstairs have their own kitchens for those family members that like having their own space. The house is equipped with everything you need. Both kitchens have dishes, pots and pans, utensils, microwaves, coffee pot and complimentary coffee. There are 4.5 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms upstairs and an efficiency style room with kitchen downstairs. The house can sleep 18-21 people. All towels, pillows and bed linens are provided. All bedrooms have their own TV, wifi and blueray player. There is an outdoor gas grill, a wood/charcoal bar-b-que pit, a fire pit, a ping pong table, dart board, corn hole and plenty of fish. The driveway can accommodate 7 cars with more parking available along the street. The two porches have a beautiful water front view to sit and visit. The large TV/game room has many games and movies to chose from, a blue-ray sound bar and several other sources of music throughout. This vacation rental offers the best of all worlds.

About Terri Hannasch
I enjoy renting and making sure everyone has a good time on their vacation. I try to keep my prices reasonable as I am sensitive to the fact that while the cost of living keeps going up, our salaries have not. Ive been renting since 2010. I feel very fortunate to live on the river and able to rent my home in an area that is known as the vacation capital of Texas. Renting was never our original intent but renting has helped me not lose it and cover the ridiculous property taxes. Since I started renting in 2010, it seems everyone including outside investors started doing the same, so people have a lot of choices. I am appreciative when families and friends chose mine to spend their vacation and I try to make sure everything is perfect.
Terri Hannasch purchased this House in 1995
Why Terri Hannasch chose New Braunfels
I always wanted to live on the river in New Braunfels. I would drive the streets in New Braunfels exploring the ones that led to the water looking for older homes and 'fix-me-uppers"'. Back then the homes were mostly 'cabins' and this area was considered "country." We completed our first addition in 1998 when the biggest flood event in history happened. It was called a 500 yr flood. All the old cabins and old boat houses were either washed away or not worth rebuilding. We got 8 ft of water but the upstairs stayed dry! All the beautiful homes you see today are post the 98 flood. I love its location and few people realize this part of the Guadalupe river exists, where it opens up wide for boating and fishing. It is only 7 miles from downtown, Gruene, River Road, and the Comal. Thank you for viewing and where ever you chose to stay, have a great time floating the rivers and enjoying New Braunfels!
What makes this House unique
The property description states the unique benefits of renting on "Lake Dunlap." Lake Dunlap is really the Guadalupe River that remains at a constant level so you can swim and boat in deep water. The property is 5 mls east of IH 35 and 7 min to Gruene,, the Comal, Schleterbauhn, River Rd. etc..., It is a wider section of the Guadalupe that few people realize exists.

Family Graduation Celebration
We rented Riverbend Lake House for a gathering of friends and family to celebrate our youngest daughter's graduation from Texas State on May 11th. The property was as advertised, very clean and with good supplies of kitchen utensils, towels, etc. Water pressure is really good there and the septic system works well. We had 8 adults and 2 children staying in the house and there was plenty of room for everyone. My daughter and six of her friends came over after graduation and we had a crawfish boil and BBQ that evening. The upstairs and downstairs decks along with the big kitchen made for great areas for our guests to hang out and visit. We were a little concerned that parking would be a problem but with a little carpooling it turned out we were just fine. I think we got good value for our money and I would recommend this hidden gem to my friends and family.
Thank you for the positive review. It made all the hard work and efforts over the winter worth it. I don't pressure people to enter reviews because I realize everyone goes back to their busy lives. So, thank you again. Terri
Great house for a large group
My group consisted of 15 adults getting together to float the river. The house was great. Plenty of space so everyone didn’t have to be on top of each other. And the porches were perfect to have us all together. Being right on the water was an amazing addition. One day we were able to go float the Comal, and the next we just enjoyed the lake in our backyard.
Made the Final 4 Even Better!
Nine of us went to San Antonio to see the University of Michigan play in the Final 4. We considered a mediocre hotel in SA (emphasis on the "mediocre"), but opted for Terri's Riverbend Lake House (RLH) instead, about 30 minutes outside SA. Split 9 ways, the cost was about the same. But the difference in experience was enormous.
RLH sits on a wide part of the Guadelupe River called Lake Dunlap. Your backyard is a nice piece of greenery right on the river/lake with hammock, chairs, boat launch, ladder into the water, and an opportunity to "float." Terri made clear to me that the thing everyone does there is grab an inflatable, grab a beverage, and float.
There are lots of other water-based activities to do or watch like boating, fishing, jet skiing, water skiing, tubing, kayaking, and the like. But we took Terri's advice and floated. Something we typically don't do in Michigan in March ;-)
The house itself was great with lots of bedrooms, lots of beds, a nice kitchen, and lots of public areas where our gang could hang out. Best of all was the 2nd story outside patio with lots of room for all of us to eat overlooking the lake. The only thing that was a bit strange is that this is actually 3 separate houses (upstairs 3 bedroom with kitchen, downstairs efficiency with 3 beds and kitchen, and downstairs living room), with no interior way to get from one to the other. This was not a concern for us because the public spaces we hung out in were all outdoors with everyone having easy access to the 2nd story patio, the 1st story patio, the backyard fire pit area, and the paved walk with chairs on the river's edge.
Terri was very helpful in planning the trip, happy to share with me lots of info about the house, the area, restaurants, and things to do. She was also very helpful when we accidentally locked a key inside.
For supplies, there is a Valero with "corner store" and a Dollar General store 2 miles down the road. A bit further (3-5 miles) are Walgreen's, Walmart, and a ton of other stores.
Having your favorite basketball team make the Final 4 is special. Celebrating a Final 4 semifinal victory floating with my son and friends in 80-degree weather in March at Terri's Riverbend Lake House ... priceless!
Thank you, Gordon. It was my pleasure. Im glad you chose my place over a motel. I hope yall come again and this time go float the river upstream. I know you have rivers in Michigan, but you haven't floated until you float Texas style. lol Check out my website, I just redid it and put some youtube videos on it that gives you an idea of what floating 'Texas style' looks like. I truly enjoyed meeting all of you!
Perfect Weekend Place
17 of us had an absolutely wonderful time!! The pictures don't really do justice ... all the rooms are very nicely sized, not crowded. The place was super clean and organized and had everything you would possibly need. The lake is so beautiful ... you can boat or float or fish. Thank you Terry for everything!
Dear Salana, I apologize for late response! I did not realize you had submitted a review! Still learning the new version of this website. You are very welcome! Thank you for the positive comments! I hope you look me up again and I appreciate you very much!
Family Friendly Relaxation!
What a wonderful and relaxing family vacation we had here. We BBQ'd, swam and relaxed by the fire pit every night. We even rented a boat one day and took it up and down the river ways. I highly recommend staying here. In fact we will probably be back in the future.
Thank you so much...
Great place. Lots of room for the whole family. Enjoyed are stay very much. Recommend highly.
Thank you Rachel!!! I am just now discovering where they put the reviews since they changed up their website. I am only a year late but still wanted to let you know I appreciate you!!!
There is a public boat ramp underneath IH-35 where you can launch your boat or water craft. As you cruise down river, it becomes wider as you go. The lake house is located at one of the widest sections of the river and is easily visible from the water. Swim and ski during the day, fish at night. There is a small outdoor fire-pit with wood available and a large bar-b-que pit and gas grill for outdoor cooking. During the day, stay and swim at the house or drive into town to float the Comal or Guadalupe. Spend a day at Schlitterbahn, Sea World or Fiesta Texas. The options are endless. Dont forget to visit historic Gruene Hall, listen to live music and stroll through Gruene's unique shops. They don't call New Braunfels the vacation capital of Texas for a lack of things to do!
