About the property

4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, sleeps 6-15.

Riverbend Lake house is located on the Guadalupe River where the Guadalupe and the Comal Rivers merge together to form 7 miles of open water just East of IH 35 in New Braunfels. From this rental's back yard, you will see jet skis, boats, wake boarders, and fishing boats. This section of the Guadalupe River is known as Lake Dunlap, a well kept secret where the Guadalupe River opens up wide for boating activities. This rental is located 7 miles from downtown, the Comal River, historic Gruene, and Schlitterbahn. Or you can drive up River Road to float the upper Guadalupe. Afterward, you can escape the crowded camp grounds of River Road and the congestion of downtown to relax in the peaceful privacy of your own back yard where you can swim or just sit in an inner tube and enjoy your favorite beverage. The water level stays constant and are always deep enough for swimming. The river access is level with the backyard. There are no steep hills or stairs you have to climb to get to the water. The river is just a few feet from the house, so adults can sit on the porch or under the shade of the Cyprus trees and not worry while small children swim. This is an ideal vacation home for multiple families. There are three bedrooms upstairs. Two of the three bedrooms have their own outside entrances! Both rooms downstairs have their own separate entrances. The upstairs is separate from the downstairs which makes it ideal for large families and groups. Both the upstairs and downstairs have full kitchens. Both kitchens have dishes, pots and pans, coffee pots, microwaves, stoves/ovens, and complimentary coffee. There are 4 full bathrooms and a half bathroom. The whole house sleeps 15. Towels and linens are provided. There is a boat slip with a boat lift to accommodate most boat sizes and/or jet skis. There is an outdoor gas grill and a wood/charcoal bar-b-que pit. This vacation rental offers the best of all worlds.

There are separate off season rates depending if you just want to rent the downstairs, the upstairs, or the whole house. For a more detailed description of both, see additional information on the rates page.

About Terri Hannasch

I have been renting since 2010. People have asked why there are not more reviews and the reason is I do not pressure people to enter reviews. Most people go back to their busy lives, including my own and it is just not a priority. I do have lots of repeat renters and I assure you, no news is good news when it come to reviews. The renters who have a negative experience will enter a negative review, so no review means they had a good time but they are back to the rat race of life.

Terri Hannasch purchased this house in 1995

Why Terri Hannasch chose Texas Hill Country

Most of my renters come from Dallas, Houston, Bryan College Station, some from West Texas and some from out of state. They come in large groups to reunite with friends, old college buddies, bachelor and bachelorette parties, annual family vacations, etc... They like this property because of its flexibility. The downstairs is separate from the upstairs. As a result, there are two kitchens, the largest kitchen is upstairs and the downstairs kitchen is smaller in an 'efficiency" type apartment that sleeps 6. The downstairs has a separate living/game/TV room that sleeps 3. The design of the house makes it ideal for multi families or grown children and their families. Many renters comment that the pictures on this website and my personal website do not do the place justice. Oh yes, we are a pet friendly (dogs) rental and have a fenced in back yard and front yard.

What makes this house unique

The property description states the unique benefits of renting on "Lake Dunlap." It is the section of the Guadalupe River that remains constant level so you can swim and rely on the water staying deep. The property is 5 mls east of IH 35 and 7 min to Gruene,, the Comal, Schleterbauhn, River Rd. etc..., It is a wider section of the Guadalupe that few people realize exists. I enjoy renting and making sure everyone has a good time on their vacation. I want them to get their money worth. I try to keep my prices reasonable as I am sensitive to the fact that while groceries and the cost of living all have been going up, our salaries have not.

Family Graduation Celebration

  • 5 of 5

We rented Riverbend Lake House for a gathering of friends and family to celebrate our youngest daughter's graduation from Texas State on May 11th. The property was as advertised, very clean and with good supplies of kitchen utensils, towels, etc. Water pressure is really good there and the septic system works well. We had 8 adults and 2 children staying in the house and there was plenty of room for everyone. My daughter and six of her friends came over after graduation and we had a crawfish boil and BBQ that evening. The upstairs and downstairs decks along with the big kitchen made for great areas for our guests to hang out and visit. We were a little concerned that parking would be a problem but with a little carpooling it turned out we were just fine. I think we got good value for our money and I would recommend this hidden gem to my friends and family.

Family Friendly Relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful and relaxing family vacation we had here. We BBQ'd, swam and relaxed by the fire pit every night. We even rented a boat one day and took it up and down the river ways. I highly recommend staying here. In fact we will probably be back in the future.

Thank you so much...

Superb Accomodations - Beautiful, Clean & Spacious

  • 5 of 5

My family had an amazing week at river bend lake house this spring. My sister and I decided to combine our family vacations this year and this place perfectly accommodated our large and diverse group. Together we have 3 children in college who brought several friends. Needless to say, these kids had a very active week planned floating the river’s popular hot spots and enjoying the night life in Gruene. Their hours were quite different from the rest of the family so being able to give them the downstairs sleeping area with it’s own kitchen, 2 full bathrooms and large entertainment area was such a blessing. The kids were able to stay up late hanging out and playing video games late into the evening without disturbing the rest of us upstairs. The younger children stayed together comfortably in a large upstairs bedroom and thankfully had a bathroom all to themselves. Since this rental has its own boat lift we decided to bring our boat and the kids had a blast water skiing all week…the lake at this part of the Guadalupe river is just perfect for jet skis and boats – the kids would ski during the day and the men would fish in the early evening (good fishing here too). My parents also joined us this year since they were able to have their own separate room and bring their beloved dog, Mildred- it’s hard to find places that will let you bring you dog, especially when that dog is over 50lbs. Having a separate entrance for them to take the dog out at night and leave out early every morning for their walk walk. he entire property was very well kept, with all modern amenities (including big hi Def tvs in all the rooms, cable and working wi fi which thrilled all the kids). Another great plus you don’t get anywhere else is all the extras available you tend to forget you might need or run out of with a big group…they had everything here you could possibly need, forgot a special seasoning for your BBQ, ran out of dry towels, need extra life jackets, a crockpot, mixer, washer/dryer, dog leash, extra battery, special pots and pans or cooking utensils, a mixer, zip lock bags and plastic food containers – no problem. These were just a few of the things we needed. That feeling of being at home instead of a bare-cupboard, rented room . Tie owner was very nice, accommodating and pleasant to work with. We will definitely be coming back this summer and hope to be return renters in years to come.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Carol, for submitting a review. I don't follow up with renters like I should and ask them to submit reviews. Everyone goes home to their busy lives and submitting a review is the last thing on their minds. I'm glad you had a good time and the accommodations were to your satisfaction. This is the first year for me to rent the whole house and not just the downstairs. We worked hard over the winter to get it ready and I wanted everything to be perfect. So your review meant a lot to me. I'm glad Mildred enjoyed herself also! I Hope to see you again next year. Thank you for choosing Riverbend Lake House for your family vacation. Terri

Wonderful family get away!

  • 5 of 5

We had wonderful stay at the River Bend Lake House! The home and yard are immaculate and very well maintained. We are a family of nine consisting of my husband and I, our 3 married children and their spouses plus one adult single son. The arrangement of the rooms were excellent for us but I could see it might be a problem for families that need adjoining rooms. The double sized bunk beds worked perfect for all the younger folks while my hubby and I had the quiet other room to ourselves. There was a ping pong table under the spacious car port that was very well used during our stay! The water in Lake Dunlap was quite a bit warmer then that up river and was quite relaxing after tubing. The only down side was there is a pretty bad fly problem and we couldn't eat outside at the only dining table so had to eat just sitting on the couches inside. Plus every time you went in or out the flies fogged into the room. But we all agreed it was definitely a great place to stay and we would recommend it!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and truly glad you had a fun time. Since this review, a large indoor table has been added to the downstairs. Fly problem has been resolved. Yard sprayed between every renter. Owner recommends any trash cans attracting flies be pulled away from house and doors.
