We hoped to rent a Downeast cabin by the water, and I’m happy to report that we found the perfect place – here! The setting is so peaceful and open and beautiful – and the cabins are adorable (and well-equipped for a relaxed get-away). We fired up the grill (included), and ate every meal on our porch or at our picnic table, gazing out at the marvelous water-and-mountains-view. On top of that, there are countless more scenic adventures to be found nearby: Mt. Desert Island, Schoodic Point, the Tidal Falls, etc. Also, the best fried clams we’ve ever tasted, are less than five minutes away. We loved it, and our dog didn’t want to leave at the end of our stay, either.
Finally, the owners are really nice and helpful – and we hope to return again!
My family and I (any my dachshund Roxy) really enjoyed staying at the Flanders Bay cabin in July 2015. Beautiful and quiet setting, with water view; the cabin is basic and clean but has all you'll need. I loved digging for mussels and picking blueberries nearby. Barbara was a fabulous host, and she had great recommendations for activities and good food nearby. We of course also took advantage of having Acadia National Park nearby. I'd certainly recommend the Flanders Bay cabins to others, and I look forward to returning there in the future!
Simple easy living with gorgeous views and warm helpful owners. Dog-friendly too. We've been returning yearly for 25+ years now and just booked this year's time once again,in our favorite cabin. Simply furnished, but with everything you'd need, the cabins are a taste of the days back when families spent quality time in each other's company. We always enjoy being a 5 minute walk from digging clams or gathering mussels. Fifteen minutes in the car and we're in Schoodic- a beautiful and no-crowds portion of Acadia Nat'l Park. I have sent, over the years, many family members and friends and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone enjoying the simple pleasure so abundant here.
Lovely home. Very gracious owners, helpful with planning activities! Can't wait to go again this year!
Stayed here for a fall retreat/get away and loved everything about it. We enjoyed the cottage stay (clean, well maintained) and all the surrounding things to do! The cottage is cozy and in a peaceful setting, away from any noise, but close to the bay. Great for fall or any season- we had a great vacation. Looking forward to coming back again!
we had a wonderful time away from the crowd and eating seafood. The view was wonderful. The people were charming. It was worth the drive and the price, would do it again if it was available. It was very clean and true flavor of Maine.
