About Jay Vetter
We retired to Estes Park in 2013 after living in Nebraska for 40 years.
Jay Vetter purchased this Studio in 2009
Why Jay Vetter chose Estes Park
The property includes a home in which we live and garage with a loft apartment above it in addition to the cottage. We bought it as our retirement home because of its location and great mountain views. We have vacationed here regularly since 1970 and have always wanted to spend more time here.
What makes this Studio unique
We appreciate that we have extra space for family to visit and are also able to generate a little extra income while welcoming guests who love this area as much as we do.

The perfect home in the mountains!
What a wonderful spot! The babbling brook out back, deer on the lawn, elk over the road, the town and the national park just a few minutes away, and moon gazing on the back deck at night! The inside of the cottage is neat, modern, fully equipped and well considered. The views are just incredible. My daughter loved the jets in the bathtub, too. We'll definitely be back!
Relaxing getaway. Cottage was great!
I really enjoyed staying at this cottage. It has a wonderful view out the back door. There is a gas fireplace which was great on my first night when it snowed. The Wifi worked great as well as cable. The kitchen had all of the dishes and cookware you could possibly need. It had a dishwasher, range/oven, coffee maker, kettle, small refrigerator, microwave...easy to use and clean up. For being a small cottage it had lots of counter space in both the kitchen and bathroom. There is big grocery store and some smaller stores in town so you can find everything you might need during your stay. I think my favorite appliances were the washer and dryer located in the closet. So convenient to be able to wash your clothes as you go! I bought laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets and left them for the next tenants.
There was a lovely welcome binder that had instructions about the cottage and even had the family's favorite hiking routes. I was especially happy with my stay since there were deer and elk right outside the door. Talk about being close to nature! I did worry a bit about the bear warning and instructions but did not any bears while I was there. Whew! It was easy to get to town and to all of the local attractions. There is a really good restaurant close by that you can walk to. I went on a jeep tour, climbed a mountain, hiked, had a massage, ate at local restaurants, took a drive to Mary's Lake. It was really fun and relaxing. This is a perfect getaway spot, and I highly recommend it.
Cute little cabin in the mountains!
My husband and I really enjoyed our little weekend getaway! Great little cabin and very clean!
Our stay couldn’t have been better. The cottage was cozy, clean, and prepared. We hope to visit again!
Rocky Mountain high
The cottage is well maintained and great condition. Terrific view of the mountains. We got an up close and personal view of a male elk who was munching it's cud while laying in the front yard of the property! Wow, was that neat. Got some great pictures. Owner of property is very nice and helpful with his knowledge of the area. Would highly recommend this cottage
A Home Away From Home
My wife and I came to Estes Park for a weekend get away to mostly visit RMNP. This was our first time in the area and quite frankly did not explore it much beyond the park. This makes the Cottage that much more important to our weekend. It was clean, it was quiet, it had all of the amenities we needed for what we were looking for, and Jay was great for the moment we chatted. What a great location and a beautiful space. It is clear that a lot of work has gone into preparing this space to make it comfortable for visitors, and it did not disappoint. I hope my wife's and my travels bring us back to Estes Park and to RMNP, if it does, we will certainly reach out to Jay and his Cottage to another Home Away From Home stay!!!!
