About Jay Vetter

We retired to Estes Park in 2013 after living in Nebraska for 40 years.

Jay Vetter purchased this studio in 2009

Why Jay Vetter chose Estes Park

The property includes a home in which we live and garage with a loft apartment above it in addition to the cottage. We bought it as our retirement home because of its location and great mountain views. We have vacationed here regularly since 1970 and have always wanted to spend more time here.

What makes this studio unique

We appreciate that we have extra space for family to visit and are also able to generate a little extra income while welcoming guests who love this area as much as we do.

Rocky Mountain high

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is well maintained and great condition. Terrific view of the mountains. We got an up close and personal view of a male elk who was munching it's cud while laying in the front yard of the property! Wow, was that neat. Got some great pictures. Owner of property is very nice and helpful with his knowledge of the area. Would highly recommend this cottage

A Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I came to Estes Park for a weekend get away to mostly visit RMNP. This was our first time in the area and quite frankly did not explore it much beyond the park. This makes the Cottage that much more important to our weekend. It was clean, it was quiet, it had all of the amenities we needed for what we were looking for, and Jay was great for the moment we chatted. What a great location and a beautiful space. It is clear that a lot of work has gone into preparing this space to make it comfortable for visitors, and it did not disappoint. I hope my wife's and my travels bring us back to Estes Park and to RMNP, if it does, we will certainly reach out to Jay and his Cottage to another Home Away From Home stay!!!!

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is exactly as it appears in the photos. It had everything we needed and we were able to make a few meals during our visit. The location is perfect for getting to the park and not too far from downtown. Looking out at the mountains from the deck was relaxing (and the sound of the little creek/stream in the backyard is a plus.)

It snowed before and as we were arriving so the fireplace was perfect. The blanket of snow on the trees and trails was stunning. Hiking was extra special (quiet and serene). RMNP is always rejuvenating to the soul.

Don't judge a book by its cover....roomy cute bungalow

  • 5 of 5

This bungalow apartment was super clean and the kitchen had everything you needed for a hassle free get away. The owners are super helpful and have suggestions and tips on hiking dining and shopping in town that they share with guests. The location is ideal for the rocky mtns and close enough to all of the in town stuff but on the outskirts enough to be away from hubbub. We were so busy sight seeing that we didn't get alot of down time here but hope to return soon to do so. Thanks Jay and Maureen!!

Great cabin feel for a retired couple, so very close to RMNP.

  • 5 of 5

A clean, comfortable cabin that had all the basics and some extras. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils and lots of misc. in cupboards and refrigerator. TV system and Wifi worked well. Back deck had a table and chairs with a gas grill. Closet had a ton of hangers and shelves as well. Cute gas fireplace (too warm for us to use). Jetted tub and shower in bathroom also worked well. Plenty of windows to let the breeze in from the outside. Owners live next door and came over soon after we arrived to check to see if all was ok, they are very friendly and helpful. Location! If you're coming to Estes Park to go to RMNP, then this is the perfect location. You can drive to the Bear Lake Road in just a few minutes. Parts of Estes Park can be a constant traffic jam, but this location avoids that problem. Its obvious to me that the owners enjoy working with their renters and sharing the RMNP experience.
