Situated on a quiet country lane 20 minutes walk from village centre

Provençal-style villa in its own terraced gardens with flower beds, fruit trees, swings and boule park. Villa Rose offers flexible, air-conditioned accommodation for up to 8 people (6 adults + 2 children under 12yrs). The spacious and well equipped villa is located in a secure and beautifully maintained garden with its own private pool. An impressive vine-covered outside terrace is the centre for al-fresco eating and has its own built-in barbecue. Inside, there is a spacious lounge with full height ceiling, linked to a large American style , fully equipped kitchen. The sleeping accommodation comprises the villa with three air-conditioned double bedrooms and a mezzanine floor with two single beds. The garden contains a safe childrens' play area with swings and a boules park (boules provided). Inland attractions such as the Lac de St Croix and the Gorges du Verdon are easily accessible.

This spacious and well equipped villa in its own grounds, is built in the traditional Provencal style close to the charming village of Le Thoronet, famous for its Cistercian Abbey which, in Summer, hosts a number of musical events and concerts.

The vaulted-ceiling lounge/dining room has a traditional fireplace with a wood-burning stove, and comfortable two-and three-seater sofas. A dining table and chairs for up to 8 persons is provided. French windows lead on to the south-facing vine-covered main terrace. The fully-fitted kitchen has an extensive range of cooking utensils and equipment, a built-in gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, electric kettle and toaster. In the utility room and larder adjoining the kitchen, together with a standard fridge-freezer, there is a large American-style fridge-freezer which dispenses ice and chilled, filtered, fresh water, and high 9Kg load washing machine . An ironing board and steam iron are also available. Patio doors open to the kitchen terrace which is ideal for open-air breakfasts in the warm morning sunshine.

Two double air-conditioned bedrooms are on the ground floor, both with fitted wardrobes and cupboards. A large fully tiled bathroom with wet-room shower and separate WC complete the ground floor accommodation. The mezzanine floor overlooks the main living area and is equipped with two single beds. A third double air-conditioned bedroom, with built-in wardrobes and cupboards and en-suite tiled washroom/WC, leads off the mezzanine.

Gardens of 1500m2. The beautiful, secure and private garden is terraced on two main levels, well stocked with a variety of perennial flowers, shrubs and fruit trees. Garden lighting adds to the overall ambience for late evening relaxation after the heat of the day. Private Pool: 8m x 4m x 1.5m deep and fully enclosed with childproof fencing and security gates. Solar heated fresh-water shower. Large paved sunbathing area for up to eight sunbeds leading to the lower garden terrace. From the lower level, one can walk up the five rustic stone steps to the upper lawn, the boules park and swings.

About Mr Barry Dixon

We are a retired married couple who love France. We live in the rural East of England and enjoy rural life both in France and the UK. We are keen sailors and have spent much time cruising to France and meeting many French friends. More recently we have enjoyed cruising the lovely Cote d'Azur. Consequently we speak good French and enjoy conversing with our French friends. We love the local cuisine in the South as well as the great variety of local Vins de Provence. We are keen cooks ourselves and enjoy trying out new recipes from all pregions of France.We love entertaining and are keen to share our lovely villa with visitors from far and wide.

Why Mr Barry Dixon chose Draguignan region

We found this villa after a short search of the region. It offered all the features we were looking for - a quiet position in a mainly French community, a secure and fenced terrain, a good sized pool and beautifully designed gardens, plus flexible accommodation for ourselves and our guests.

What makes this villa unique

As we entered the electrically operated front gates and drove up the driveway to the two integral garages, we could see this was a property of some standing. However, when we walked around to the south terrace and main entrance we could hardly believe the beauty of the rose garden and pool, in a backdrop of a two tier, beautifully maintained garden, full of shrubs, fruit trees and flowers. We were also impressed with the additional benefit of the separate studio in the top garden which offers the possibility of extending the accommodation for a couple and a small child or baby. The main south facing terrace of the villa is shaded by old spreading vines forming a leafy roof over the outside dining area, with ripening grapes as an added feature.

A few years ago we added air conditioning to the three main bedrooms in the villa which allows us and our guests to relax in the cool during some of the very hot weather that is common in the region.

We also make full use of the small vegetable garden which we plant with local vegetables every year. Our guests are free to use any produce that is growing in season

A wonderful place to stay!

We travel every year with small children and this definitely is the best house we rented until now. It's very clean and really comfortable. It has EVERYTHING one might need - kitchen appliances and cookware, towels, books, games for kids, amazing pool(!), a/c , etc. The welcome pack is really nice touch.

The nature in the area is pretty amazing. We visited a river nearby, lake Sainte-Croix and the caves of Villecroze - our children just loved it.

We and our kids (3,6,8) had a great time!

The owner and the property manager were very responsive and the whole booking process was pretty simple.

As this is our second home for nearly half of the year, we have equipped the villa with everything we would expect to use in our main house. We are so glad that our guests can benefit from these same amenities during their stay. We are always looking out for more ways to improve the facilities and have tried to add new features each year. This year we improved the main terrace roof by extending the tiled area and, in the kitchen, we fitted a new top of the range AEG electric oven.

Villa Rose - A fabulous place to relax and unwind

Barry and Elaine - what a wonderful Villa you have! Thank you so much for letting us share your house! From the ease of booking to the lovely welcome pack left for us, nothing could have gone smoother with our holiday. The inside of the Villa is spacious and very comfortable. The bedrooms were clean and tidy with the all important air-conditioning for night time. The kitchen is very well equipped and had everything we needed for our week's stay. The outside is just superb! From lazing by the pool and playing pre-dinner Boule to evening BBQ's sitting under the patio vines - we just loved the place. Le Thoronet is also a great location to access all the the other wonderful villages Cotignac, Aups, Salernes etc. We had the most wonderful time and would love to stay again soon!!

Wunderbares Anwesen für unvergesslichen Urlaub

Rundum ein wundervolles, sauberes, geräumiges, schön eingerichtetes Anwesen mit einem tollen Pool, einem Boules-Platz, Außengrill, einem Gemüsegarten und idyllischen Sitzgruppen. Wir haben uns von Beginn an sehr wohl gefühlt, wurden von Mr. Fletcher sehr nett begrüßt (inklusive eines leckeren Begrüßungslunchpaketes, was uns am späten Abend der Anreise sehr entgegen kam) und hatten einfach eine wunderbare und erholsame Zeit in der Provence. Das Haus liegt an einem sehr guten Standort, von dem aus man tolle Ausflüge in alle Richtungen unternehmen kann. Sehr sehenswert sind dabei die Verdon Schluchten, die Städte Aix-en-Provence, Grasse sowie auch die Küstenstädte St-Tropez, Monaco und Nizza. Auch das in der Nähe liegende Örtchen Le Luc bietet einen großen Markt sowie das schöne Restaurant Le Gourmandin. Ebenso empfehlenswert ist das in Le Thoronet gelegene Restaurant Le Vallon. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

A great place to stay in the south of France

We spent a lovely 2 weeks staying in this spacious well equipped villa with our 3 boys and for 1 of the weeks our parents who used the studio. On arrival we were met by our villa manager Justin and his wife who made sure our stay was as relaxing as possible. The welcome pack was a nice surprise. The pool had lots of use and we all had a lot of fun using it especially our boys. Inside the villa we found a spacious holiday home which kept cool and contained everything we needed for a great holiday. The kitchen was a good size and well equipped. We ate outside for most of our holiday as the weather was so warm (around 30c in the day and 20c at night). Although not near a big town we had no problem jumping in the car to visit the supermarkets and also had some superb days out visiting the local area. Overall, I can highly recommend a stay in this villa.

As this is our own home for 50% of each year we wouldn't expect to offer any lower standards of accommodation. Our investment in air conditioning was clearly the right thing to do in our Mediterranean climate; it's consistently the hottest and driest part of France at this time of year. We are glad that the welcome pack of basic food and drink essentials was appreciated. It can save a late shopping trip after a long and sometimes difficult journey by road and allows our guests to settle quietly in the villa before taking a short trip to a local restaurant for a relaxing dinner.

We had a very nice stay!!! The villa is great, well located not too far from the village in a quite area! The pool and the garden are very nice and the air conditioning useful during the nights! Le Thoronet is conveniently situated in a natural forested environment near the A8 autoroute and is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Var region of Provence and the Cote d'Azur. Lakes, rivers, and vineyards are all around. Locally, horse riding, kayaking, rambling, fishing, tennis, boules and quad biking. Beaches at Hyeres, Frejus, St Raphael, St Maxime, and St Tropez and Nice, all within one hour’s drive from the villa. Cote de Provence vineyards with wine tasting. Local Provencal markets, antique fairs, art exhibitions and village fetes. To the North lie the spectacular Gorges de Verdon and Lac de St Croix, as well as many smaller lakes and gorges. The region has many mediaeval villages perched on the top of steep hillsides 'Villages Perches'. One of the local sites of interest is the Abbaye du Thoronet which hosts a number of musical concerts. Golf is available throughout the Cote d'Azur with over 40 courses in the region.

Notes:
The house is situated in a lovely enclosed private terraced garden on two levels, with fruit trees, olive tree, roses, oleanders and a fully stocked fruit and vegetable garden, swings and a boules park. The gardens are set against an impressive backdrop of mature pine trees. There is a large sunbathing patio with gazebo adjacent to the pool. with plenty of room for eight sun loungers and two drinks tables. The pool measures 8m by 4m is fully fenced and gated to French Law requirements. French doors open onto the south-facing vine-covered terrace with table and chairs for outside dining in the shade, together with a built-in brick, outdoor barbecue. Patio doors open to the kitchen courtyard which is charming for breakfast. Entry to the property is through electrically operated gates with remote control for ease of entry and exit by car. The upkeep and cleaning of the pool will be maintained once or twice weekly by a professional pool engineer.
