Located in the beautiful Smokey Mountains, this wonderful rental chalet has breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. It has a 12 foot wide deck where you can sip your favorite beverage and enjoy natures sights and sounds. We are also located about 15 minutes from the new Murphy Casino that the Cherokee Nation just opened up.
The interior of the chalet has hardwood floors and pinewood ceiling. Snuggle up or get warm in front of a beautiful 42 inch river rock fire place. Tastefully decorated, you will feel right at home. If you want to relax or enjoy natures offerings, this is the place for you!

Since we are 'flat landers' from Florida, but enjoy the mountains, we decided to build a home in mountains of North Carolina. We have had many wonderful family vacations enjoying mountains and the waters of NC and the surrounding states.
Mike Folger purchased this cabin in 1996
Murphy is very central to many points of interest in North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
Love this area because it is surrounded by water and mountains. There are 4 lakes and 3 rivers all within an hour and less. Great mountain drives and wonderful fishing. Does not get better.
Jeremy and I really enjoyed our week in the mountains. The view from the loft bedroom and the deck was just stunning! We only had one day of sunshine, and the leaves at that elevation were only just beginning to turn, but we had a great time hiking the area and visiting the Campbell Folk Art School and seeing the students working on their projects. One day we took the Skyway drive into Tennessee and to the Joyce Kilmer forest. We drove through a misty landscape of hoar-frost-encrusted trees (at 32 F temperatures) at the higher elevations. The fall colors around 4000ft were spectacular. On another day we hiked on the Bartram Trail to Jones Gap and to the top of Whiterock Mountain, a huge and vertically sheer (awesome!) granite dome. Only later did we discover that there was a Welcome/Information Center office on the way to Murphy, and the Forest Service office near there, so we got our detailed topo maps a little late...but we will be back for more!
Thanks again for a lovely clean, cosy cabin and a wonderful vacation stay!
We have been coming to Murphy for many years and like to try different cabins. We choose this place as a great homebase near our friends that live in the area. Mike was very helpful in making this trip work out for us. We had leisurely mornings, packed a lunch and then we were usually gone for the rest of the day. The bedroom upstairs was certainly very comfortable after our many excursions to find the remaining fall colors! You will get lots of exercise going up and down the stairs inside and outside of which we needed. Most nights you can hear the echoes of dogs barking on the mountains. We did not use the grills we found under the cabin. We found several new places to visit this trip: Lobstas in Young Harris is a new favorite place to eat and Bell Mountain in Hiawassee for the amazing scenic views. (minus the graffiti rocks) But there is so much more to discover and see each and every time we visit this area. We even took a day trip for lunch to a favorite spot in Highlands up on Sunset Rock. We would love to come back in the future.
Thank you Mike and Jackie for your hospitality! We thoroughly enjoyed the colorful leaf changes coupled with the great mountain view. Although it was warmer than normal for this time of year we still managed to have a camp fire in the fire ring and make a few smores coupled with some stories. We recommend this cabin for a family getaway. As my grandfather aways said..."good time had by all".
We stayed at Mike and Jackie's cabin during the third week in October and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful leaf changes! Although it was a warmer than normal season we still managed a campfire in the fire pit below with smores and a few stories. We recommend this cabin rental for the good views and comfortable atmosphere. As my grandfather aways said..."good time had by all".
We spent a week here. It's a nice cabin with fantastic views in a quiet mountainside neighborhood. The master bedroom is in the loft, and there is a bunk room that sleeps six. We had a great week getting out of Florida's heat in the middle of summer. The cabin was very clean and had an adequately stocked kitchen. When we plan our next NC vacation, we'll definitely check to see if this cabin is available. Thank you, Mike and Jackie for being good hosts!
Home away from home. Very well decorated and we felt very welcome to a beautiful area.
The cabin home fit our needs and then some. We ventured out on occasion, but loved to come back and relax on the deck to enjoy our surroundings. The glider was wonderful. Mike and Jackie very helpful when we needed information or questions we had regarding cabin and area. Not that far from the town of Murphy and shopping. Look forward to a return trip. We found our spot. Thanks again to Mike and Jackie.
