About Jon & Lara Stewart
Jon and Lara were both raised and still live with our three kids in the Walker area. Can't think of a better place to live.
Jon & Lara Stewart purchased this House in 2005
Why Jon & Lara Stewart chose Walker
We bought this property in 2005 to raise our young family in. Since childhood we have both always lived on Leech Lake and this property offered many of the unique benefits to living and raising a family in this wonderful vacationland. The quiet rural setting with large level property gave our family plenty of room to enjoy the best of what Minnesota has to offer. For ten years we have enjoyed the outdoor living this property provides. Biking, canoeing, yard games, four-wheeling, snowmobiles, and of course fishing on one of, if not the greatest, lake in Minnesota have all been the joys of living on this property. In 2015 we purchased a home and property in the city of Walker adjoining family property and much closer to our business. We still have the lake and the convenience to our business is nice, but we no longer have the peaceful tranquility and expanse this property offers.
What makes this House unique
In the many years we lived in this house, the southern exposure proved to be a huge benefit. Protection from the cold northwest wind meant we enjoyed many more days outside enjoying the yard, deck and Steamboat Bay. A northern exposure would have made these days miserable. The cold winds and rain usually do not come from the south. In the summer you can usually expect a nice southerly breeze off the lake to keep you comfortable. If you are vacationing in a questionable weather season it just may be the difference of enjoying the outside or staying in.

A Beautiful place , we enjoyed our stay.
Better than the pictures!
We were there together with all our kids and grandkids. The huge yard and play set (swings with play house above) were a hit. It was wonderfully clean and well stocked. It was great to have firewood included there also. We had several lakeside campfires. We caught small fish off the dock. We also rented a pontoon boat from John & Laura. It was very reasonable and they delivered and picked it up. Overall John and Laura were very friendly and accommodating. Their property was obviously well taken care of. We felt at home there and were able to relax and enjoy ourselves.
Great family cabin
4 adults and 6 kids stayed comfortably here! Easy to communicate with and very helpful. Kids LOVED the fort / treehouse, aka their HQ. Huge lawn for nerf wars!
Love this property!
This is our second time staying at this house. It is very well kept and clean. The house is so nice and the view of the lake is beautiful. The owners checked up with us and made sure everything was ok. The kids loved the huge yard and the play set. Would highly recommend staying here.
3 Generation Fishing Trip!
Friendly check-in including great info about the area. Clean, quiet with great access to town lake and boat launches. Every little amenity to make our stay amazing!!!
Great place to stay for a big family , nice to have a washer and dryer , 3 bathrooms!!!
Great place to stay for our family of 10 and a couple of little grandchildren. Like fishing from their dock and the owners had plenty of supplies if we forgot anything and didn't want to run to the store.
The property is located 8 miles north of Walker on Leech Lake. The Paul Bunyan paved bike trail runs past your driveway extending 115 miles from Baxter to Bemidji, and connecting to many other trail systems. Great for snowmobiling, biking, or hiking. There is also Hiawatha Beach Resort 1/2 a mile away and Anderson's Cove Resort just down the road. Enjoy a day at one of our local golf courses; Long Bow Golf course is 2 miles south and Tianna Country Club is 10 miles south. We are 8 miles away from downtown Walker which offers many great shops and dining establishments.
