quaint, charming upstairs cottage apartment captures the nostalgia, and romance of "once upon a time

  • 5 of 5

The hosts of "The Barn" are gracious, welcoming, and willing to answer all questions, and help make their guests feel at home. The u/s loft apartment was cozy, comfortable, clean , and charming. the harbor breezes cool the space, along with a ceiling fan. Views of the bay, sailboats, and shore birds are as lovely as a painting. This rental is on the "quiet side" and is just that---a lovely retreat.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We thought this was a great location. Originally we had wanted to stay in Bar Harbor, but I'm glad we chose Bass Harbor. The barn is a unique and comfortable property and a great base for seeing Acadia National Park. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the owners had loads of materials on local places, along with a hiking trail book which came in handy. We would stay here again. My only advice would be to bring a book light if you like to read a lot at night as it doesn't have great lighting. You also might want to bring a sleep mask if you want to sleep in late because there is tons on natural light in the morning. I personally like waking up early because of the sunlight, but I know some people would not appreciate that while on vacation.

Photos dont do this justice

  • 5 of 5

The owners are extremely helpful and respond to questions quickly. The property is located in a gorgeous area and The Barn is quite unique. The site is located about 30min from Barr Harbor. We took a day trip to Camden which was about an hour in the opposite direction. The photos dont do the inside of the rental justice. It is very very spacious! Every detail is covered from a well-stocked kitchen and its decore. Great restaurants (lobster pounds) just a short driving distance away. Cannot say enough about the owners and the property. My husband and I will definitely stay here again.

Exellent stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had and exellent stay at the barn on Bass Harbor. It was a beautiful and comfortable rental. The owner's were great. We had our privacy and were only a short drive to Bar Harbor. Plenty of things to do, a week was not enough time for us, we would definitely go back!
