I welcome you as the owner, not as a managing company.
For 15+ years this house and my guests have brought a lot of joy to my life. I'm a traveler, originally from Nieuw Amsterdam, NYC, and settled here 20 years ago. My dutch partner is very helpful and if you want a locals advice about anything, especially music venues, or just want to chat, he will happily answer questions. We are dedicated to making your stay happy and comfortable.
Lynn Nicholas purchased this apartment in 2000
Listed as a monument home, built in 1735. In one of the most wonderful neighbourhoods of the original Amsterdam Centre. The neighbourhood is known as the Jordaan, please google. This is a true home away from home for travellers, in a wonderful neighbourhood of Amsterdam. I have been renting for 15+ years, reliable, trust worthy and do my best to offer a quality rental.
We stayed in Lynn's place over Queen's Day (biggest holiday of the year) week and had a great time. The apartment was more than big enough for the four of us.
--Very comfortable beds.
--Very quiet at night. I stayed a week and remember only a couple cars on the street. It's so quiet I could hear rider's bike tires on their way down the streets. To be honest, I was often worried that we Americans were the loudest people on the street when we came home at night.
--Big, roomy and comfortable sunroom, living room, dining room and bedrooms.
--Lynn is a very gracious host.
--Two blocks from a great bakery for breakfast.
--Saturday and Monday offer a great open-air market three blocks down for food, sundries and many other items.
We had a lovely stay at Lynn's apartment. The neighborhood is a great home base for exploring Amsterdam. It's not as crowded with tourists, yet is a short walk to the main sights. There are several great restaurants within a short walk, and the apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The apartment is really spacious and very charming. I fully recommend this apartment!
We stayed two weeks in Lynn Nicholas's apartment and loved every minute of it. My husband and I were traveling with our three children in their 20's and we really appreciated the space. There are two bedrooms and a full bath on the second floor. Both bedrooms are quite large and everyone had their own bed. My husband and I stayed in the back bedroom and it was very quiet. The main floor has high ceilings, a large sitting area, an eat in kitchen with large table, a small solarium and a half bath. We had plenty of space for five large bodies! The reviews and descriptions of this home were very accurate. I did not realize until we arrived how fantastic the location is. It is a 4 minute walk from two grocery stores and a 3 minute walk from a full service laundry. One of the grocery stores has a cash machine inside that has very good exchange rates. The first small restaurant was one block away with many, many more within a few minutes walk. At the end of two weeks we were ready to stay another two weeks! Thank you Lynn for sharing your home. This apartment is in a wonderful location for walking through central Amsterdam and is convenient to trams and buses to take you further afield. There are great cafes, bakeries, and other shops nearby, yet it is a quiet apartment, and you have the feeling of living in a real neighborhood. The apartment is very spacious -- all rooms are large, and the living space downstairs is perfect for relaxing, socializing, and cooking meals if you feel like it (the kitchen is very well equipped). Everything is well maintained and very clean. Lynn was quite helpful with instructions, information about the neighborhood, and extras such as calling a taxi for the return trip. The spiral staircase to the upstairs bedrooms is steep, but more manageable than many Amsterdam stairs, and it is very nice having the main living quarters on the street level. My family would love to stay here again, and we would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Amsterdam.
This is the second stay at this apartment for my husband and me. The location cannot be beat. It is close to so many wonderful restaurants, delis, shops and transportation. The apartment is spacious, has excellent storage and is very comfortable. We made great use of the large kitchen table for planning out our activities and then relaxed on the new sectional sofa in the lounge area. The solarium is a nice area to meditate in a serene environment. Lynn is a superb host, offering guidance for restaurants, museums, music and just awesome conversation. She answered all of our questions quickly and was available at all times during our stay. Lynn also provides plenty of linens, pillows, blankets and supplies. If you want to live like a local in the Jordaan, this is the place for you.
Wondering where and how to begin talking about Lynn's apartment! We had the privilege of staying at her place just recently and we absolutely loved it. Jordaan is a highly recommended place by itself, and the apartment could not be in a better location. It is surrounded by eateries of all kinds, famous ice cream places, grocery stores, launderette and pharmacies (a family always thinks of those). It is within an easy access of the tram station; the Central Station is a healthy, 15 minutes walk away. Its proximity to Anne Frank's House, to the canals (any which way you walk from her house), to the Westerkerk, to the restaurants - makes it an extremely coveted place to stay at.
Now let us get to the inside of the apartment - space galore! We are a family of 4, (us and our children - 20 & 14) and we never felt the need for extra space. The kitchen is very well stocked. There is also a "Calming Room" downstairs, a place to sit and recap the entire day. The two bedrooms upstairs were spacious, with enough storage space. The full bath is fully stocked as well. The house itself is very cool, even on the hottest Amsterdam day. Amsterdam experienced record heat since 1901 during our stay! With all the fans that Lynn provided we did not feel the lack of air-conditioning at all!
Perhaps the best part of our experience of the apartment was Lynn, who is an exceptional hostess! Extremely kind, patient, always ready to help and easy to reach.
Lynn, thank you for sharing your place with us. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and it was a privilege to meet you, talk to you and work with you. If we visit Amsterdam again, we know where to stay!
My wife and I and another couple stayed here in June 2014. It's a spacious apartment, lots of room for two couples, clean, good facilities and right in the middle of the historic Jordaan district, with restaurants, shops, traditional pubs and cafes close by.
New Fitness Center and Swimming Pool 5 minutes from house, Cinema with restaurant 10 minute walk, Post Office and Bank closeby, 2 grocery stores, 2 outdoor markets all day saturday and half day monday mornings, Many small grocers, night shop within one block
