Villa Abajo is a beautiful, large family self-catering villa with a pool, 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The gardens are mature with plenty of natural shade and the large private 10m pool has a Roman end for gentle walk in to the pool. It has an infinity edge so you can see the sea whilst swimming! The main terrace is large and there are also two further terraces (also overlooking the sea) away from the pool. There is also a brilliant brick-built out-door barbecue. Upstairs is a bathroom, large living space with wood-burning stove and dining area and kitchen. The kitchen is very well equipped with large fridge/freezer, oven, hob and microwave. The upstairs also has a large balcony, overlooking the stunning views of the beach and sea. The villa has 4 bedrooms; 2 doubles; both with access to pool (one with en-suite) and 2 twins. These are situated downstairs together with a large bathroom. The villa also has a washing machine, stereo/CD player and a flat screen with DVD player.
This has been our family holiday home since my parents bought it newly built in 1971. Myself and my brothers have enjoyed over 40 years of family holidays there, now enjoying taking our own children. The island air smells like milk and honey and the beach is one of the best beaches I have been to through all my travels. It holds a very special place in our hearts.
Clare Hartnell purchased this villa in 1971
You won't find views over the mediterranean like it!
Comfortable, and a home away from home. No sign of Ikea here!
Just wanted to say thank you for letting us use your lovely Villa.. The weather was fantastic, the children never got out of the pool and the week was enjoyed by all..

We really appreciated the owners warning about steps down to the property with the two small children but it was not as bad as we had anticipated and well worth it. Gorgeous gardens and pool and lovely views and spectacular sunsets from the balcony. The kitchen was very well equiped for cooking and bedrooms comfortable and equiped with hairdryers as well as much needed fans! It did seeem slightly "tired" inside but maybe it has been a long and busy season!
Slightly disappointed that there was no large dining table on balcony because the garden table was plagued by wasps at this time of year and no outdoor lighting (and no pool lighting)that worked. Admittedly we could have tried to get help with that from Menorcan contact. Also had to successfully guess the WiFi password which should really have been in information folder which was sadly lacking in useful information. For people unfamiliar with the Spanish refuse collection system for example! A guest book for people to write tips for fellow guests would be a nice idea eg best beaches and restaurants and shopping. Considering how few are open on Sat afternoon when flights arrive telling people about the big Binipreu supermarket near the airport would be handy!
A few frustrations but overall a very lovely villa and a lovely island to explore, with beautiful beaches but be warned they are not actually that quiet at this time of the year despite what the guidebooks say!
We recently stayed at this villa for 2 weeks for our family holiday with a young toddler and have to say we were not disappointed the pool and the view is just Amazing, the photos on the website are so true to life. There is everything you need at the villa its very spacious and it has a great outdoor BBQ. Sitting and watching the sun go down is such an experience from the upstairs balacony. The villa is convenient for Son Bou and we hired a car and travelled around the island. It was just perfect and the owners organised everything to perfection even a nice bottle of Fizz in the fridge to greet us on arrival, thank you
Great location and fantastic holidays, as always in Villa Abajo! Thank you so much!!! Greets from Munich :-)
Whilst the steps down the villa are on the long side, the villa itself is fantastic. Amzing pool, really amzing. kids loved it. Nice balcony with stunning views across the long beach. Gd kitchen with dishwasher. Lovely main bedroom right next to the pool with nice view. Bathrooms clean and in working order. Yep, I'd go again.
Son Bou/San Jaime is arguably the most popular and desired resort in Menorca. With its white sandy beach (the longest on the island) stretching along the south coast and crystal clear waters, it is popular among bathers, snorkellers and ramblers who can enjoy long walks to the headland. The beach and protected nature reserve offer wildlife and bird watching remaining unspoilt by development. It has many boutiques and restaurants, catering mainly for families. The water slides by the club provides endless fun for the children. For those who want to dance the night away there is also a night club. Should you wish to surf the net there is an internet café. Everything is within walking distance, however, there is a local train/bus that drives around the resort which you can hop on and off. Always a favourite with the children. There are several supermarkets which stock everything you need. In short, Son Bou caters for everyone
Other Activities: Bird Watching, waterslides, karting.
