Within 400 meters of the house, we have seen wild boar, deer, hares, foxes, buzzards, owls, woodpeckers and two different types of hawk.
We love this house and its really pretty garden. It was the second time we spent our holiday here and we are planing our next trip.
So it was like coming home for us. The welcome was very warm. Sandra and Roger are very cordially and cooperative. If you need any help they are there for you.
The house is located in a quite rural location. The sandy and long beach is only 5 to 10 minutes by car. Even in the high season there are only a few people there. So you are able to play football, beach ball or with your dog without disturbing anybody.
The cottage with its big walls is snuggly and comfortable and traditionally decorated. There are a lot of books and games to play with your family in case that the weather is rainy.
The house is well tended, immaculate clean and very well equipped. We missed nothing.
The big garden offers the possibility to spend some quite and recreative hours. Our twins liked it to play football, badminton or hide-and-seek in the garden.
In the morning we like to take our breakfast at the seating area in front of the house surrounded by flowers and in the evening we love to have barbecue behind the house and have a look at the beautiful garden and enjoy the tranquility and peace of this place.
The area around Pierreville is a good starting point to detect a lot of the places of interest at Normandy. If you are interested in history you find countless places from the mid age to the second world war to visit. Also there is a diversified and picturesque countryside with sandy beaches, cliffs, lovely harbors and the fields and meadows with its typical hedgerows.
We had such a relaxing week in this traditional french cottage in the country. We spent time walking around in the beautiful private garden, which is great for children. The cottage itself is spotless and traditionally decorated, with all the mod-cons a family could want on a holiday. The kitchen is a dream to work in and is a lovely space for family dining. The french fireplace takes centre stage in the beautiful living area, bookshelves full of books and games provided hours of entertainment. The bedrooms are all beautiful and lovely places to stay. There were leaflets for local restaurants, attractions and places to visit. The cottage is within short driving distances of traditional French towns and villages, shops and beaches. Roger and Sandra are wonderful hosts and we can't wait to visit again!
Wow, where to start?! The cottage is extremely well cared for, beautifully decorated and scrupulously clean. The kitchen/diner is very spacious. There is a proper bath (as well as a shower) in the bathroom which was very welcome, particularly as we have young children. The rooms are very comfortable and the cottage is the most well equipped place we've ever stayed in (there are tea towels, tea pots, tupperware containers and even egg cups)!
The garden has to be seen to be believed - absolutely gorgeous and 10 times the size of our average sized garden at home. It goes on and on! It is extremely well looked after and there are lots of mature trees and flowers. The property is in a really quiet location with a field at the end of the garden and is very peaceful. All you can hear is the rustling of the leaves on the trees in the garden - lovely.
There is a fabulous, quiet beach about 10 minutes drive way at Surtainville, which was so nice we didn't bother going to any other beaches - although there are plenty to choose from!
Normandy is a great holiday location - lots of interesting museums, lovely beaches and very friendly locals. The cottage is an easy 40min drive from Cherbourg and close to some lovely beaches and the d day landing beaches/museums. The aquarium/museum at Cherbourg (la cite de la mer) was particularly enjoyable and our children loved it.
The British owners, Roger and Sandra, were exceptionally friendly and helpful before, during and after our stay and nothing is too much trouble for them. The greeting on arrival was incredibly warm and welcoming, which was lovely after a long day travelling with kids.
We would thoroughly recommend staying here and had such a fabulous time we're in the process of booking for next year!
We stayed for a week at Les Sources and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this quieter part of Normandy. The cottage is in a lovely rural location, is well presented, well maintained and very clean and tidy. The owners obviously take great care and pride in providing this lovely holiday cottage with it's extensive gardens.
Our 2 children (3 and 6) loved the cottage and its gardens whilst the natural beaches along the Contentin coast are just what we like. They are sandy, quiet, with free parking just behind the dunes and safe for children with most lifeguarded during the summer season. This is the east coast which means there is usually a light breeze on the beach, we have a pop up sun tent which was perfect but a standard wind break would be fine to create a lovely sun trap.
There are lot's of small villages close by for markets and supermarche shopping whilst Cherbourg is a 30 minute drive meaning that the cottage is really convenient for travel from the UK south coast and that the attractions on both the north and west coast of this region are very easily reached.
If you like crowds, english style foreign resorts, package holiday rooms and apartments it's not for you. If you want a to spend time together as a family in an unspoilt part of France with natural beaches, nice villages and a lovely traditional holiday cottage then we would recommend it.
We had a fabulous two week stay at Les Sources. The owners Roger and Sandra made us feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We really felt as if they cared about the property and about our holiday. They provided us with stairgates, cots and highchairs for our two children.
The house was spotlessly clean and the large garden was immaculate. The swings were a great hit, as were all the games in the cellier.
We enjoyed our holiday at Les Sources and would love to return one day. The nearby beaches are fantastic, the scenery pretty and the locals are very friendly.
We arrived a day late due to our ferry sailing being cancelled but still felt as though we'd had the most relaxing holiday in years by the time we left. The house is perfect, wonderful for a small family and Roger and Sandra were exceptionally accommodating and welcoming.
Be aware, it is quite tricky to find the house the first time, but the garage owner in Pierreville knows Roger and helped us out. All the locals were very friendly.
The house has an amazing garden, front and back, including swings for older and younger children. Our little boy was in heaven! We had a log fire every evening and ate outside in the sunshine most days. The nearby beaches were deserted, surrounded by dunes and covered in beautiful shells that our son spent hours collecting. The sea is calm and warm and was the perfect place to introduce him to the water.
We went to several of the local markets and ate at home most days but Roger and Sandra's restaurant recommendations were spot on and very welcoming of children. The kitchen is very well equipped and we found everything we needed.
Finally the house is utterly SPOTLESS! I couldn't quite believe how clean it was. The decor is really tasteful and the bedrooms particularly are light and airy and very stylishly decorated with french fabrics and pale colours. We would honestly live there if we could and are already planning our return trip next year.
