On the Rocks, Alligator Point, FL
Kick back in the house, on the screened porch or on the sun deck to enjoy our million dollar view!!! 'On the Rocks' is located directly on the gulf. Our yard is protected from the gulf by a line of large rocks, so you cannot access the water from the yard. If you are on the deck, you are right over the water and have a bird's eye view of the beach and gulf. The closest 'official' beach access is only approximately 40 yards away. Talk about convenient!
We offer approximately 1252 sq. ft. of living area, which includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and family room, not to mention the screened in porch and deck overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. If you are an early bird, you can enjoy your morning coffee while taking in the inspiring sunrises over the gulf, or just kick back any time of the day to enjoy the roar of the ocean and the gentle gulf breeze. It just doesn't get any better! The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, one guest room has a double bed, other quest room has 2 twins and there is a queen sleeper sofa in the den. We also offer 2 folding twin-size cots. These accommodations will sleep 6 to 8 people comfortably. Perfect for any group or family.
Alligator Point is located 45 miles south of Tallahassee along US Hwy. 98 in Franklin County. Franklin County proudly boasts that it has no stop lights, no fast food, and no movie theaters. If you are are looking for water parks, high rise condos, and go-cart rides, you have come to the wrong place. But if you want the REAL FLORIDA, with its abundant wildlife, great fishing and unspoiled, pristine beaches, you have arrived at your dream destination.
Come enjoy the beautiful beach at Alligator Point and Bald Point State Park, where you can enjoy sunbathing, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching and nature study. Alligator Point Beach is more narrow than the beaches at Panama City or Destin, but it goes on forever.
Within a few minutes drive are two of the nation's TOP TEN RATED BEACHES, St. George Island State Park, near Apalachicola, and St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, near Port St. Joe. Both parks contain miles of undeveloped beaches, emerald waters and white sugar sand. Other nearby attractions include St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, an unspoiled barrier island just offshore from the mouth of the Apalachicola River in the Gulf of Mexico. The island is a haven for endangered and threatened species, including bald eagles, wood storks, sea turtles, indigo snakes, gopher tortoises and red wolves. It is accessible only by boat. A favorite is Wakulla Springs State Park, one of the world's deepest freshwater springs, with swimming, nature boat rides and glass bottom boats. Wakulla Springs is known as the shooting location for several Tarzan movies, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Airport 77. From the river boat and glass bottom boat tours, you can see alligators, many species of wading birds, water fowl, fish, turtles, and snakes, in and among the crystal clear waters emerging from the depth of the springs. Kids love diving from the diving platform into the refreshing spring waters, which remain a constant 68-70 degrees year round. The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge features the St. Marks Lighthouse, and offers a habitat for all kinds of Florida wildlife. (Bald eagles are often spotted here - so keep your eyes peeled!)
So the guys want to take in some of the finest deep sea or flats fishing in Florida; NO PROBLEM, LADIES! While they are catching speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, grouper, redfish (the list goes on), you can visit historic Apalachicola. Once a bustling sea port, this quaint village of about 5,000 still boasts a large shrimp fleet, a downtown shopping area with antiques, boutiques and local art, and beautiful restored houses from a bygone era. Once the third largest cotton port along the Gulf Coast, the Apalachicola/East Point area still harvests and processes 90% of the oysters consumed in Florida.
Locally caught seafood is prepared in the many fine restaurants located in Panacea, Carrabelle, and Apalachicola. If you prefer to cook it yourself, fresh shrimp, oysters, and the catch of the day are available in the seafood houses dotted along the coast from Panacea to Port St. Joe.
We can't wait for you to experience our personal paradise. Leave you worries at home and head for 'On the Rocks' for some beach therapy.

About Deborah Word
My name is Deborah Word. My husband, Jerry, and I started visiting Shell Point in 1998. It didn't take long for us to fall in love with the Shell Point area. Since then, we purchased two canal front vacation rental homes in Paradise Village of Shell Point, with high hopes for future retirement there. We love fishing and photography, so Wakulla County is perfect for us. Several years later, I started handling vacation rental reservations for a few other property owners in the surrounding area. I currently manage six rentals in Shell Point, three in Ochlockonee Bay (Panacea) and one in Alligator Point.
Deborah Word purchased this House in 2014
Why Deborah Word chose Alligator Point
Alligator Point is located south of Tallahassee along US Hwy. 98 in Franklin County, just across Ochlockonee Bay from the Wakulla County line. Franklin County proudly boasts that it has no stop lights, no fast food and no movie theaters. If you are looking for water parks, high rise condos, and go-cart rides, you have come to the wrong place. But if you want the REAL FLORIDA, with its abundant wildlife, great fishing and unspoiled, pristine beaches, you have arrived at your dream destination. Come enjoy the beautiful beach at Alligator Point and nearby Bald Point State Park, where you can enjoy sunbathing, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching and nature study.
What makes this House unique
On the Rocks sits directly on the water and has water views from the entire living area and the master bedroom. The screened in porch and deck offer a comfortable outdoor setting. The beach is just a couple of houses down the street and the beach access is about 40 yards down the road.

Get away from it all
If you want to get off the grid, this is the place for you. Right on the water so you can sit on the screen porch and watch the birds and dolphins. Great sunrises. Nice cold front really helped that aspect. A short walk to a good beach. We walked for 30 min out and then back and saw three people and two dogs. As another review stated, be prepared to bring things in- no dining options on island so plan meals to bring in or plan on driving. Once we got there, no need for anything else. May have turned on tv for an hour total over three days. As a golfer, 30 min to course was ok.
I would say a great place for family just to wanting family time. If your kids want putt putt and other attractions, look elsewhere.
A lovely place by the Gulf
If you are looking for a great location to stay by the Gulf, this is it. Alligator Point is a quiet, laid back area of the Gulf where there isn't a strip mall in sight. The pictures of the house are very accurate to what you will find when you get there. The views off the back deck are fantastic, and the back screened-in lanai just begs you to sit there and listen to the ocean for hours. Keep in mind that the area does not have a lot of commercial development so you're about 20 minutes from the closest grocery store. You are surrounded by several great state parks that make for a fun day. There is no access to the water from the back of the house, but you are very close to a beach access and the public beach is at the end of the street. If you are looking for a place to getaway this is a great option.
Very quiet and relaxing
Beautiful view without any crowds. The house was well equipped with all the necessary equipment and can sleep a lot of people. It was just three of us, so we had plenty of extra room. Pet friendly with prior notice.
Great place for kids to play
We really enjoyed the screened in porch and used it quite a bit while there. We loved the fact that the kids could play in the sand between the house and the rocks. Hated we left a day earlier than planned due to weather.
We love staying at Alligator Point!!
The house met our expectations and Deborah was very attentive to concerns that were brought to her attention from the renters the week before our stay. We had no issues with anything in the house, other than the tub/shower in the master bath is tall and hard to get in and out (bad knees). It would be nice to be able to check in a little earlier, but we understand the time is needed to clean before arrival! The view is amazing and the screened in area was used daily!! We would most definitely rent this house again.
We had a fabulous time!! Perfect for our family!
First time family vacation with our children and grandchildren. This home was perfect! Lots of room on the beach! Memories made. Hated to leave. Grandkids are 2- 8 yr old boys and 5 yr old girl. First time at the ocean and they experienced it up front and close!!!! Lots of exploring. Made a trip to St. George Island where water is clear. But SO thankful we stayed at Alligator Point. Nice and quite.
