We really enjoyed our stay here. Its been along time that all our family has gotten together and spent quality time. The house was perfect, our cove was beautiful. The only thing I did not like is the steep boat ramp. The local businesses on the lake were also great.

The way the lake used to be is absolutely right for this house!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Friday afternoon.......and reluctantly left on Monday. The house was perfect for us.........felt totally like we were at home. The layout allowed me to cook for the nieces and nephews while visiting with them at the same time. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided.

Our kids spent a lot of time on the swimming/fishing dock and loved it.

Would absolutely recommend the house to a family for a great lake vacation.

Old school and perfect for it!

  • 5 of 5

This is old school lake (just as it's described in the listing). A WONDERFUL quiet cove, a nice big dock and deck and lots of space in the house. Not the newest decor, but fully stocked with all we could need. Enjoyed this trip enough that I immediately booked another weekend later this summer!

Owner's Response: We love our guests too! Yes, my wife (on occasion) has told me we need to "update" the décor. She's watches way too many home improvement shows. Paint the oak cabinets white, etc. I keep winning by explaining, this is what a real Lake house looks like! NO, we're not painting the oak cabinets. I keep saying this house is not one of the condos or mega-mansions, downstream. It's our Lake hideaway, and we'll keep her just the way she is! Comfortable, functional, clean, with everything needed to relax, unplugged, and enjoy! She says I'm stubborn! To which I reply, I am NOT! Thanks for the review!

Would not return

  • 2 of 5

The location is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars. It was great for swimming and it was nice being off of the main channel.

There is no cell service or internet and be prepared to pay a fee per bag of trash, unless you haul all of your trash into town for another per bag fee.

The house is very outdated and there is a musky smell throughout.

Upon arrival we were expecting to meet with the property manager to do an initial check. She didn't meet us and gave us a door code. She was also supposed to meet us at check out to point out items that we would be charged for. We gave her 2+ hours notice and she was unable to meet us. This became an issue when part of our deposit was withheld for not cleaning. We spent 4 hours cleaning. The house was in better condition when we left than when we arrived. Upon arrival we had to wash pots and pans before using them, the refrigerator was full of old food and the extra pillows were stained. If we used the vacuum it smelled like rotten fish. We left the trash outside as instructed by the manager. We also forgot to pick up 1 cup, a magazine and left one decorator pillow on floor. There was no organization to the cabinets, towels, or blankets. We put the items back exactly how we found them, yet we were also charged for the towels not being organized. The manager then lied to the owner and said that we declined a final walk through when she offered. This house is not worth what we paid for it, not to mention being charged when their representative would not meet us to point out the few things we missed as guaranteed in the check in paperwork that was given. The pictures are deceiving and the property manager is dishonest and out to make a buck at the renter's expense. The owner did meet us half way and reduce some of the charges, but the treatment from the manager and the dishonesty is not something that left us on a good note.

Owner's Response: We sincerely regret that we apparently did not meet this guest's expectations. We always strive for guest satisfaction and enjoyment (as reflected by all previous reviews). The home is in a very quiet, secluded cove, and that's why all of our reviews from previous guests (including the guests from the prior weekend) love it so much! We have numerous return guests every season, just for the relaxing experience. In addition, all guests are informed of there being no Wi-Fi or cell service, and that the home is to be returned in the same condition as received, clean and orderly. This guest executed the Rental Agreement that listed all of the above conditions. The photos sent to us by our Caretaker of several years, do not agree in any way what the guest has written. The overall condition of the home when vacated, had the appearance of a frat party! We also will attest that ALL of our photographs are 100% accurate in every respect. In the 12+ years we have been renting our home out, we have returned 99%+ of Security Deposits in full. This guest is one of 2 in 12+ years that was charged to have the home ready for the next guests. Again, we regret that we did not meet this guest's expectations! Thank goodness they are a small minority of our 100's of happy guests over the years!

Perfect lake get away. Boat or not.

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect more than enough room. wife and i and my 2 daughters stayed in July weather was good and the water was perfect. Warm at bottom of boat ramp and nice and cool off of the dock. The shore is nicely sloping from the end of the ramp out so my 6 year old could swim perfectly also the dogs loved running in and fetching the toys. Inside the house was truly everything you need Pots, pans, glass dishes, a million forks spoons knives and plates and glasses, also multiple empty gallon pitchers for tea or lemonade. charcoal grill all the grill utensils also. Dishwasher and dishwasher soap is there also. we stopped at a grocery store about 30 minutes out on our way in filled the fridge and never left again until the trip was over. Just bring food and charcoal if you want to use the grill.

Huge collection of vhs and beta movies. also some noodles in the closet we took down to the lake kids floated on them.

Deck on house is huge great view of the lake. The house is on a calm part of the lake barley any boat traffic and is in a idle zone. Neighbors were super nice but not overbearing.

There is honestly nothing i can think of to say bad, the house was clean the air conditioning worked great. I have att and tmobile phones and i did have to drive up the road about a mile to catch a signal(which is fine by me). The last mile or so of road to get there is gravel and can get a bit hilly but well maintained. i see no problem with any car or truck doing it(we drove an Ford Expedition.

I was super last minute on this trip and Mike was more than accommodating and nice to deal with, also His caretaker was super easy to deal with when we got into town. Thanks again for a wonderful vacation Mike.

Also we did not take a boat but the boat dock is in excellent shape and has a lift. we swam off the dock and its got a nice area to sit with chairs if you want. also nice if you have a boat because the ramp is right there and in great shape.

All Summer Long

  • 5 of 5

Where do I start? My family and I just completed our second season enjoying this property. We rented four times over the summer. It feels like home. It is exactly what I would want in my own lake place. Everything from the home, the neighbors, the cove, and the location on the lake are just perfect. The cove water is calm for swimming around the dock. There is a larger cove and the main channel that provide space and calm water for water sports. Every time we arrive to a sparkling clean home. The cleaning service that is available is well worth it, so you enjoy that last day at the home.

Another wonderful summer and the property owner could not be easier to do business with! LOVE THIS PLACE!!

Top Thing to do in Budget:.....

Top Thing to do in Family:.....

Boating, all water sports, great fishing, swimming. This is a deep, large cove, located towards the end where it's always quiet. If you want shopping, clubs, expensive food....get back in your boat or car for about 30-45 minutes. This is not the Lake's 'hot spot', which is why most of us old 'Lakers' like it!! We do not have Wi-Fi, so pretend it's 1995 and simply talk to each other !
