Newly Built Suite In A Beautiful "Lighthouse" Building Near Lake Superior
About Kathy Kunst
We are business owners in Duluth MN. Every year we take our kids on a family vacation and rent through VRBO. We always talked about opening up a vacation rental and when the Lighthouse Restaurant was for sale we knew exactly what we wanted to do with it!
Kathy Kunst purchased this House in 2014
Why Kathy Kunst chose Palmers
The lighthouse suites are located between Duluth and Two Harbors, 150 yards from the shores of Lake Superior. This unique building was built in 2007 as a quaint nautical themed restaurant. When the business closed it's doors we were were able to purchase it with one thing in mind, to create one of the most unique and incredible places to stay on the North Shore.
What makes this House unique
We were able to take the wide open space of the building and sculpt it into 2 spacious suites. This allow us to rent them separately or together for large groups or families. The North Shore scenic railroad runs near the suites. On this night there were 2 trains switching direction on the track One was a sight seeing train and one was a mystery train tour. This is one as it left our area heading back to Duluth. The tracks are used for entertainment only.

Clean, cozy retreat location. Excellent beds great for a good night of sleep. Roomy, welcoming atmosphere. Beautiful sauna, fire pit, grill and patio.
Clean and quiet location
Everything was as listed on the property site. We had a great time in the area.
It was everything we were looking for and more!
It was clean, spacious, close to Duluth and Two Harbors. They had a binder of info for the suite as well as the area, which was super helpful. We brought our 3 yr old and 11 month old and she provided a high chair and a pack and play. It was comfortable and our boys loved it. The firepit was cozy and the stars were beautiful. You could even even ship horns in the distance!
Beautiful north shore getaway!
Overall, just a very nice property! Excellent location, nice setting, very clean, and we wouldn't hesitate renting again!
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! So glad you chose our vacation rental, to spend your time at, while in Duluth. Hope you come again!
Quiet location and great for family. Perfect location on North shore for driving to sites.
Wonderful location and enjoyed everything.
Only thing that would have made it better was air conditioning and a few more bath towels and washclothes for our family of six. Thank you for a great experience!!!!
Thank you for staying at the North Shore Lighthouse Suites and taking the time to leave us a review. So glad you enjoyed the property and area. We do leave 8 bath towels, 6 wash clothes and 6 hand towels. (And 2 beach towels in the sauna) We also provide a washer and dryer and laundry detergent free of charge in the suite. ( Stating this for any future stays or letting future guests know if reading this response :) We are considering putting in air conditioning for the few weeks needed on the North Shore in the summer. Many times it is cooler by Lake Superior. We will update the website when we do. Thank you again!
A Nice Getaway
We had a very nice time on the North Shore. The suite was exactly as listed. It was very clean and had everything we needed to have a relaxing few days. The outside space was wonderful also.

Nestled between little Sucker and Sucker rivers, the beauty is everywhere. Just a 15 minute drive from Duluth and 10 minutes to Two Harbors. Knife River is just 4 miles from the suites. This old fishing village has the famous Russ Kendall's smoked fish house. Emily's Lighthouse restaurant and a family run candy shop that cannot be missed. There is also a marina. The McQuade safe harbor is a few miles away and has public access to Lake Superior. Tom's logging camp is a mile away. A great place to learn about the history of the lumberjacks and see some animals. A must see if you have children. The sucker river is one of the most beautiful rivers on the North Shore. It flies under the radar of visitors because it is not a state park. You'll find it a great place to explore and you might decide to jump in the many swimming holes it offers.
