This charming Adirondack style chalet is nestled in a private wooded setting yet less than a five-minute stroll to beautiful Loon Lake.
Enjoy lake rights to a lovely sandy beach with off-shore float and separate boat launch area. Swim or fish in the pristine waters of this large private lake or use our 15-foot canoe or 3 kayaks to explore the winding shoreline and secluded bays. Take in breathtaking mountain views while being entertained by the lake's namesakes - the magnificent loons. Hiking trails abound and part of the lakeshore and surrounding woods is untouched forest.
The chalet is warmly decorated Adirondack style with knotty pine on the main floor and spacious loft. In addition to a fully equipped kitchen with new stove, new refrigerator and a dishwasher, the main floor has a full bath, master bedroom with king size bed (or two twins) and a second bedroom with queen size bed. The loft functions as a third bedroom providing separate sleeping with three twin beds. The living room boasts a fireplace and large picture window, satellite TV and DVD/VCR. A full screened in porch is a wonderful place for quiet reading, morning coffee or nighttime star gazing. You might even catch sight of a deer feeding at the edge of our large grassy lawn. A small, open deck off the screened in porch has a gas grill for your convenience or build a campfire in our fire ring and toast marshmallows. There is a picnic table and firewood is provided.
The lower level of the house can sleep 3-4 with a queen sofabed and a full sofa bed. These additional beds, along with a second full bath with shower, make this a very comfortable vacation home for up to 8 people (maximum). The spacious lower level is also a great "family room" with a large screen HDTV, DVD/VCR as well as a foosball table and a variety of games and movies.
Located 25 minutes north of the village of Saranac Lake, Loon Lake is only 35 minutes from the Olympic Village of Lake Placid. Here you can visit the Olympic Center and ski jumps, take a virtual ride on the bobsled and luge runs or hike along High Falls Gorge on the nearby Ausable River. A gondola ride up the world famous Whiteface Mountain is only a few minutes away. Golf, rock-climb, horseback ride or just relax and enjoy the incredible surroundings. And, if you are so inclined, there is shopping and dining galore.

Bill and I grew up on Long Island, New York. We camped in the Adirondack Mountains from the time we were children and took our own children to the mountains when they were less than 2 months old. We both love this incredible area and owning this wonderful chalet was a lifelong dream, come true, for us.
It offers total privacy, yet so close to the lake! I can sit by the fireside and feel as if I am alone in the woods or walk down the hill to watch the sunset over the lake... with a glass of wine in hand...
Adults can sit serenely on the screened in porch or look out the picture window from the living room, listening to music (or the sounds of nature), while children play in the large family room downstairs...room for everyone to sleep, eat, and enjoy themselves!
This is the third summer we have spent at the Loon's Nest with our children and grandchildren. We love the seclusion of the cottage, yet easy access to the lake. The chalet is spacious with all the amenities of home, can comfortably fit 8, the private setting made for quiet evenings, and the screened in porch is great to relax on and listen to the animals. Our granddaughter calls it the mansion in the woods and loves "camping" in the loft. It's a short walk to the beach and having the canoe and kayaks let us explore Loon Lake and discover the rope swing. Lake Placid is an easy 30 minute drive and if you like to hike, many of the High Peaks are within range, including Mount Marcy. The owners are extremely easy to work with and provided directions and lots of information on the area. We had a great vacation, enjoyed the secluded setting, but were close enough to everything we wanted to experience in the Adirondacks.
My husband and I stayed for 7 nights and we thought we were in heaven. We were so impressed by Loon's Nest. It was beautifully decorated, very clean and well stocked with everything you would need. The renting process and easy and friendly and Linda was a joy to work with. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We would come back again.
The property feels like home the minute you walk in. It is very welcoming, clean and well maintained. It is very private and has a lovely yard for play catch, badminton and volley ball.
Loved sitting on the screened porch and listening to the loons at night, and watching the hummingbirds in the morning.
Bill and Linda are wonderful to speak with and were very informative about the area and the surroundings.
Yes we would recommend this home for your next vacation.
My family had a wonderful time in this spacious, adk style cabin. We were able to enjoy the peace and quiet while having cookouts and kayaking on gorgeous Loon Lake.
Our family felt like we died and went to heaven. We have never rented a house as beautifully decorated with Adirondack decor. Every room made you feel comfortable, and radiated warmth and charm.
Our teenage children found the place inviting with games, foosball table and their own private space in the loft and ground floor which included x-box, tons of videos for rainy days.
The lake was private and quiet ,with wonderful kayaks and a canoe which provided entertainment for our entire family. The fishing was greatl, we caught our first northern pike and large and small mouth bass. Swimming was great off of a sandy beach, which aloud us to use flotation devices. Nearby hiking offered beautiful views and solitude.
Memorable moments - included sitting around the fire pit at night , making s'mores, enjoying seeing shooting stars and watching international satellites move through the sky. The whispering of the pines and songs of the birds, added to the peacefulness and tranquility of this beautiful place by the lake.
The owners seem to take great pride in their impeccable home, with a beautiful fireplace if needed indoors, with wood provided and a great outdoor picnic table that sat all eight our family and friends.
This was a clean and wonderfully decorated place. It was private, yet not far from Lake Placid. There were great games, books and movies for rainy days. Lots of sleeping space. The best part was the canoe and kayaks on the private lake. Good fishing as well. No complaints.
