This newly constructed (2006) artisan cottage is situated in the secluded Rich's Cove
on the north-eastern shore of Isle-au-Haut, an island about 5 miles
off the coast of Maine. The island is home to several well known Maine authors
and families that live there year round and those who summer there.
Isle-au-Haut is a beautiful island comprised of nearly 50% Acadia
National Park land, is serviced by two different ferry routes and
is accessible from Stonington, Maine (see the Isle au Haut boat
company online). In US News and World Report's
July 2005 special vacation issue, Isle-au-Haut was called the 'most beautiful
spot on Earth'.
Wake up to the sunrise over the Atlantic and the sounds of
lobsterboats and seagulls. Bike or take a short drive to beautiful
Acadia National Park.
Renting this cottage will allow you and your family and friends to
truly get away from it all and to experience Maine island life to
its fullest. A phone call will have caught-that-day lobsters
on your dinner plate, a short bike ride will bring you to a
glacier-cut pond with waters as clear as glass.
The milky way is almost bright enough to light your evening by itself, not
the mention the opportunity for other stargazing.
You will not believe your eyes, nor will you want to leave...
Discounts for return renters apply (10% discount) after the first year.
A flat fee of $40 for cleaning is applied to each bill. Please inquire if interested!
If you are flying in to the Bangor Airport, and are not renting a car (and do not want to pay for parking on the Stonington dock), we highly recommend Eddie's Island Taxi, which will transport you from the Bangor Airport to Stonington for a flat rate of $120. You can search them online at Maine Business Listings.
The cottage was great, and the setting was lovely, peaceful and tranquil. Sarah couldn’t have been more gracious and accommodating, and promptly returned calls and e-mails. She went out of her way to ensure that our stay was pleasant and that we had everything that we needed. It was a pleasure to deal with her.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable. We loved sitting out on the rocks by the water and had a great time hiking on all the wonderful trails. We immensely enjoyed our stay and felt thankful to have use of the car and the bikes as well! It was a fantastic week and we hope to return!
Without a doubt, this is the place to be on Isle au Haut! I've stayed in this lovely Rich's Cove cottage on three different occasions and they are some of the fondest memories. The surroundings are priceless and the hospitality is unrivaled. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
Great place for solos, couples, families! Highly recommended.
Relaxing in the most beautiful spot imaginable without the worries
of modern life.
Here on the island you and your family can enjoy:
Hiking in Acadia National Park
Enjoying a view of the ocean unparalleled anywhere in the USA
To get a better feel for the island, explore the new amazing Isle au Haut website- search for Isle au Haut, Community Development Corporation.
Two impressive local businesses that we recommend are Black Dinah Chocolatiers, which is famous for their welcoming café where you can enjoy tasty baked goods, coffee, and famous homemade chocolates!
