Beautiful Home Right on the River
This sweet home is just perfect for a family or group of friends and the view from the patio can not get any better. We had six members of our kayak group stay here for a base to our kayaking adventures. The home was just perfect, right on the river with fantastic views. Plenty of room for everyone and everything we needed was provided. The upstairs areas are warm and welcoming and great for gathering together in the evenings. Both upstairs bedrooms have very comfortable beds and the bathroom is large. The basement provides extra space for guests to stay. Although the basement is nothing fancy, it is very clean and the bedrooms have warm rugs and nice beds. The bathroom is relatively small, but has everything you need. In early May the basement was cool and an extra blanket was nice to have at night. (We could have used the heater but we choose not to). An extra nice feature for us was the river access and launch right on the property. This made it very convenient for us to launch our kayaks into the beautiful Fall River. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE STAYING HERE AGAIN NEXT YEAR.
Thank you so much for your gracious review. It is a special place. Love to have you back next year or sooner. Patricia
Patricia was so helpful. Driving directions were excellent. As she mentioned, you can walk to the Spinner Fall River Lodge to inquire about boat rentals or have dinner. The house has a wonderful view of the river and grazing pastures for cattle. The deer are always about... even eating the dropped apples in the front yard. There was always something to watch from the windows. Just two of us stayed so we only used the upper floor. The downstairs/basement has two bedrooms along with the washer & dryer. The upper floor is the nicest, living room is comfortable, small kitchen but functional. I appreciate that this house belonged to Patricia's father and she is sharing it with those who enjoy 'getting away'.
Thank you for your kind remarks. It is a special place full of wonderful memories. I hope you will return soon. Patricia
Our stay at the wonderful older home along the upper Fall River was fantastic.
We had a wonderful stay at the Fall River Fishing House. The home was very comfortable and had everything we needed during our four night visit. The deck looks out over a beautiful meadow to the Fall River. The environment is tranquil and the property was filled with wildlife. Mornings and evenings on the deck were a treat. Patricia, our hostess, was great to deal with. We will stay here again.
AMAZING & MAGICAL! So beautiful & tranquil with so much to see and do! What a hidden gem!
This home was more than I expected! Such gorgeous and serene scenery, an amazing escape. I brought my children here so that we could enjoy the abundant nature, wild life and the many historic sites and areas surrounding. The house has ample room for families. What a great deck to hang out on, grill on the large barbecue and just kick back and take it all in. At night it cools down and you get such a lovely breeze in the evening in all the rooms when the sun goes down.
Everything we needed was there for us and anything extra we needed, we could take a beautiful drive into Burney to do so where there are stores, a Safeway & restaurants including a local Brew house that I wanted to check out! I will next time, sans children.
All the necessary appliances were there and beautiful fiesta ware dishes to dine on. The addition of the full size washer/dryer downstairs was so awesome! Especially when you have been hiking most of the day and do not want to lug back the dirty stuff. Plenty of extra towels and linens as well. Just bring your personal stuff, food and yourself! So glad the owner thought of everything a guest may need. Thank you!
The house was decorated just as I had imagined! Such a lovely "cabin" feel with the motif and a lot of cute decorative touches inside. Very clean and yet still very comfortable without a sterile "hotel" feel. The house itself is very spacious and you can tell that the owner has a lot of love for the home, given the personal history and history to the area. Such a unique home which was really nice.
We had a great time exploring around the immediate area and took many walks. We went into Burney to the falls, a MUST SEE! What an amazing place! We also drove up to Mt. Shasta and did some sight seeing, and will definitely go back to see the rest-if possible! We were not there to fish, although that would've been fun. We saw a few parties kayaking and rafting down the beautiful Fall River and vowed we would come back with kayaks and do the same! Although, there were many companies offering rentals of just about anything you need for an adventure. Lake Britton was also beautiful. There was so much to see and do in the area, within driving distance that even if fishing were not on the agenda there would be plenty of other things to do. Please look up all of the things in the area before you go & plan accordingly and give yourself enough time to sight-see, you wont be disappointed! The drive is even nice! Thank you again
Beautiful View of Fall River!
Our paddling club, based in Sacramento, was making our third trip to Fall Fiver. Five of us shared this home and found the view breathtaking, especially from the large deck off the kitchen. There are two bedrooms (king and Queen) on the main floor, when you walk in the front door. The bathroom with the tub/shower combination is also on this floor, along with the living room and kitchen. The kitchen is on the small size, so if you have a large group it would be tight to all be in there at once. The other two bedrooms are downstairs in what appears to be a basement with access to the outside as well. There is one Queen (I slept here on a very firm mattress) and one Twin, both sharing another bathroom. This bathroom is a little small and only has a shower. There is a very large water tank (perhaps to circulate water from the well?) that is very loud when it kicks on. This seemed to happen when toilets were flushed and when people took showers. If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. The house is very rustic and not too modern, but fully functional and stocked with all the basics you'll need. There is access to launch a kayak right off the bank of the property. Fall River is absolutely gorgeous to paddle on. There are places to eat about 15 minutes away in Fall River Mills, or another 7 minutes to McAurthur. If you plan to paddle Ahjumawi Lava Springs, you're about 20-25 minutes away. I would stay here again.
Fall River House
A group of us (4) rented "Harley's Place" for a week (spent only 5 nights, though) for our annual spring fishing trip to the Fall River. The house is comfortable and convenient with a commanding view of the river from the living/dining room and the expansive deck. The four bedrooms (two upstairs and two downstairs) were comfortable, although three of them had either a queen or king-sized bed--not as well suited as twin-sized beds would be if you're going to have a complement of 7 anglers staying there. If you're going to be doing a lot of cooking, you might find the kitchen a bit tight if more than two are involved in the process. Finally, launching the boats was easy, using the dock at the bottom of the property.
All-in-all, we give Harley's Place two thumbs up and will be using it again whenever we're fishing the Fall!
The River Ranch House is located within 200 yards of one of the
area's best places to dine- Spinner Fall Restaurant. Other dining
options include a number of restaurants in Fall River Mills,
McArthur, and Burney (all within 1/2 hour driving).
Fall River Airport is 15 minutes away.
Golfing at one of California's favorite golf courses, Fall River
Valley Golf and Country Club (open to the public) is only 10 minutes
McArthur-Burney Falls, a breath-taking water fall is only about 20
minutes away. This is also a great place to hike. Lake Britton is
also nearby- great place to fish and boat!
There are many other great attractions- State Parks, River Rafting,
and Fort Crook Museum - call us to help meet your needs.
