My husband and I purchased this cabin in 2004. We have enjoyed renovating and making it a nice getaway for all to enjoy. We have enjoyed taking our children fishing, hiking and sledding when they were younger. Now that they are older they still enjoy going up and doing these same things. We have fond memories with them that we will cherish forever! We hope you and your family and friends can experience and build new memories when you stay at our cabin too.
Diana Moreno purchased this cabin in 2005
The cabin is cozy and nicely decorated. There were four of us, two adults and two kids and we fit pretty well though I would imagine anymore people and you would definitely feel the coziness a bit too much ;). It is close to the main road though there is no direct access and you couldn't hear the noise inside the cabin which was good, there is also a fence to keep little ones from wandering off toward the road. The heater in both the main living area and master bedroom worked well and so did the fireplace (though you need to supply your own wood). There were dishes available but didn't seem like enough in some instances such as we could only find two bowls. The other downside was the arrangement of dishes and pots and that, some things were in the tiny kitchen, others in the small dining area, still not sure if we found everything or put everything back in the right place. The only other issue we had was with the fridge, the thermostat of the fridge was set too low and I'm the control knob didn't work so a few items started to freeze on us like our milk, soda, and eggs.
One big positive was the responsiveness of the owner, even during the holidays she responded back quickly and even offered us the use of the sleds she has (though we brought our own). There was also direct tv and wifi which was nice.
Even with some of the issues we still had a good time. The area was quiet and many of the cabins around us were vacant, there was also a family of deer around the area as well and aside from them and a couple other families that was pretty much it.
When renting you look for a few things...toilet paper, hand soap, glasses etc....this is nice...the area is nice...the owners need to invest in wine glasses dishes pots pans glasses etc.....the fire place needs to be cleaned, it smokes to to the house....these are cosmetic fixes....if done this place gets five stars....NOT KID FRIENDLY...exposed wiring and sockets without covers....I keep getting asked to review this cabin....I wasn't going to...but if the owner spent less $1000 they would have a gold mine!
Hope they find my review constructive in a positive way....
Great little cabin we had a great time...
The property is fantastic for a small family it was my daughters 12 birthday and she loves the cooler weather and scenery in Pinetop so I rented the cabin for the weekend the owner Diana is amazing to work with quick responses and the cabin is a true cabin.the lot is wooded so just watching the pine trees sway when the wind blows was beautiful the cabin had everything you could need other then groceries and personal your personal belongings. I'd highly recommend the cabin for a small family for a weekend getaway.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Moreno cabin. The check in process is very simple and everything was clean and orderly on the inside. The kitchen area is very small but you can easily make do with what is available. The location is great and you can quickly get to all the exceptional local restaurants in town. We will definitely consider staying here again.
We had the pleasure of staying at Brown Bear cabin in Lakeside/Pinetop for the entire month of August 2016. What a great place to visit to escape the summer heat!
Brown Bear cabin is located in a small development in the heart of Lakeside. The 60 cabins (houses) are located on large, private lots amidst the towering Ponderosa pines and diminutive oak trees. The circular road in the community is just over a mile long and is a nice place to walk the dog or walk yourself! You will see a variety of wildlife including deer and ravens.
The cabin itself is clean, comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen is small but fully functional and you can increase space by using the BBQ on the side deck. The deck is a great space for reading, relaxing, or enjoying company. The cabin is fully equipped so all you need to bring is yourself!
The location is awesome. Close to grocery stores, a variety of restaurants, and a movie theater. Everything you need is literally 10 minutes away or less.
Outdoor activities of all kinds are at your doorstep. Whether you are a skier, golfer, hiker or just want to hang out, this is a perfect place for you.
Best of all, Diana, the owner of Brown Bear cabin, is very responsive to email or telephone calls. She wants your stay to be a pleasant one.
We definitly plan on staying here again.
