This review is long overdue. We had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks at Whetstone Pond in August 2009. This cottage was comfortable and quite peaceful, everything you would need for an amazing vacation.
Setting on the pier with a glass of wine, listing to the loons, it doesn't get any better. We enjoyed busy day's of exploring the Greenville area, hiking on Borestone Mtn. and all the other neat little towns near by. But at the end of the day you will be happy to return to the peace and quite of the lakeside cabin. The pond is beautiful, it was great having Kayaks and a Canoe on site. Karen Stevens was wonderful to work with, provided information on the area, places to go and things to see. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be away from the crowds, and enjoys the woods and water. We will visit again.

The Moosehead Lake region is a nature lover's paradise. Moose,
loons, and many types of birds abound. There is hiking all around,
including the Appalacian trail. Spectacular mountains and water
formations make this area a destination. More adventurous tourists
will try white water rafting on the Kenebec River. Other activities
include boating, swimming, biking, and antiquing. There are plenty
of restaurants, shops, and even sea plane rides 20 minutes north of
Whetstone at Moosehead Lake.
