Loved Maz - Pedregoso2: great location, comfortable house
Pedregoso 2 was a lovely place to stay.
Spacious, more room than we needed for a couple - comfortable bedrooms, large bathroom with big shower, kitchen well equipped, outdoor area with washer/dryer and rooftop deck. Location perfect for brief walks to both the Malecon and the Plazuela. We walked everywhere except when went to the Golden Zone. House manager Eduardo was excellent - reached out to us to help arrange transport from the airport and was immediately responsive for the one minor issue we had during our months’ stay - when the internet went out, and resolved it very quickly. Everyone; from housecleaner Esther to proprietors of nearby Hidalgo convenience store, went out of their way to be helpful to us even with our “muy pocito” ability to converse in Spanish. Highly recommend.
This home has everything you could ask for.
Beautiful, perfect location. Most helpful management. Best experience ever. Stayed for a month and it more than met all our needs.
I was worried that the house might be small and cramped for 4 people, but it was actually spacious and very well laid out. Everything has been modernized and is in good condition. We also loved spending time on the rooftop terrace and outdoor patio on the main level. Eduardo, the property manager, is a very nice fellow and very accommodating. He brought us two extra lounge chairs (from his own house!) so we could all 4 lounge on the roof. So nice!
Pedregoso is a great street. It is on a hill, but the house is near the bottom, on the east end of the street, so there's not too much climbing involved. Pedregoso is very close to the Malecon, and about 5 minutes from Plazuela Machado and maybe 7 from the Mercado. All of Centro Historico is highly accessible from this street. Unfortunately, the City was doing road construction on Pedregoso as well as on the street (Compana) behind the house, for the entire time we were there, which made things very dusty and very noisy. That impacted our enjoyment of our stay. However, it does mean new sewer lines were put in and fresh concrete will now be on that street, so future renters should have great enjoyment.
We did wish for more chairs and more comfortable furniture inside the house. Even though it accommodates 4 people, it's probably better for 2. Lots of pots and pans and all of the kitchen accoutrements.
Great house and excellent location.
The house is for sale so I don't know if it will continue to be available through VRBO but we would definitely rent it again. Eduardo, the property manager, was was very welcoming and helpful.
Comfort and Convenience in Centro Historico
If you’re looking to experience the real Mazatlan, we highly recommend Jeff’s house in Centro Historico. Situated on Calle Pedregoso, the house is very well maintained, clean, and comfortable. With two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, a well equipped kitchen, UV filtered water system, and onsite laundry facilities, living in “Maz” becomes easy.
Eduardo, the house manager, is excellent; very helpful, tending to any issues that arise very quickly and without fail.
The biggest plus for this house is its location; everything one could want is within an easy 15 minute walk. You can enjoy the Plazuela Machado with its restaurants and the Angela Peralta Theatre (seven minutes), the beach at Olas Altas and the malecon (five minutes), and the main shopping market, Mercardo Pino Suarez (15 minutes). For places farther afield the bus system is inexpensive and easy to use.
Music abounds in Historico and particularly at the Machado. Whether it’s jazz at Bohemia on Tuesdays, or bands in the bandshell on weekend evenings, a person can always find some entertainment. For us, nothing beats an evening cocktail at Tramoya watching the world go by - the perfect end to the day.
All in all, we can’t say enough good things about Jeff’s house, its location, and Mazatlan. We’ll be back.
Beautifully restored home in perfect location
This house has absolutely everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable visit to Mazatlán's cultural center. It is located several blocks from the major plazas, market, and boardwalk. We especially found the abarrotes Hidalgo, just a half a block down the hill, to be quite convenient and friendly. Not only would we recommend this property to a friend, we hope to return soon ourselves and enjoy the roof-top vistas for another extended visit!
* Three blocks to Olas Altas beach, the Malecon, and restaurants * Six blocks to Plazuela Machado (restaurants, museums, Angela Peralta theatre, and cultural events) * Four blocks to the cathedral, Panama restaurant, the central market, and department stores * One block from a Sabalo Centro bus stop (air conditioned bus that goes to the Golden Zone)
