Casa Roja is a magnificent private home located only two short blocks
from the beach on a quiet residential street in the traditional
Mexican village of Bucerias. Casa Roja at Las Casas de Los Colores is
one of two architecturally designed homes in a private private compound.
This stunning residence, with 2 bedrooms and 2 adjoining baths, is
just steps from the spectacular Bay of Banderas with its 14-mile long
white sand beach and is walking distance to nearby restaurants,
shopping and markets.
Casa Roja is a typical Mexican home that has been completely updated
and renovated. It offers all the modern conveniences including granite
counter tops in the kitchen, marble and stone bathrooms, generous
closets and large glass doors that open onto a covered terrace. All
these conveniences are completely in sync with the qualities of an
historic home that reflects a real "sense of place and community."
This newly renovated residence is sited around a large pool with
multi-leveled terraces and a playful fountain wall. It shares the
property with the newly constructed Casa Azul which has 3 bedroom and
3 baths. Casa Roja is set in a flowering landscape with mature coconut
palms and the compound is surrounded by vine covered wall, which
provide both security and privacy.
Vine covered Garden walls visually link and physically separate Casa
Roja and Casa Azul from one another to create a style and scale the
melds contemporary design with the local architectural vernacular. The
clever arrangement and relationship of these residences to one another
-each with its own entry - make them ideal to be rented either
individually to two unrelated guests or as a package to a larger group
Casa Roja has central air conditioning in every room. Ceiling fans in
all bedrooms, kitchen, and dining /living room. Satellite TV, Phone for local calls, and wireless Internet.
After originally inquiring about Casa Roja, we made the decision to rent Casa Azul at the last minute and it was truly a great choice. The house is huge and beautifully decorated, with individual balconies for each room and a large living space. The whole house was clean and very well maintained and the pool was always the perfect temperature. On day two, our group was already discussing when we would like to return.
We had breakfast at Luna Luna (Morelos 11, Bucerias, Nayarit, on the corner of Lazero Cardenas and Morelos) each morning and I would highly recommend eating there multiple times to sample from the delicious (and large!) menu - the sopes con huevos and toritas de papa got rave reviews all around. Such lovely service and a beautiful setting only sweetened the deal.
Just further down Morelos, toward the beach, you'll find Danny at his Taco Box. Buy some cervezas at the corner store and plonk down at the little table and chairs for some really tasty tacos and a chat (Danny speaks both English and Spanish and very graciously helped us to do so too).
Horse riding at Rancho Capomo was a fun activity for our group- our guide was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, funny and made a big effort to draw the group together and ensure everyone had a good time. Included in our riding package was a sit down lunch and drinks. The lunch was a range of fairly traditional Mexican dishes, beautifully presented and very moreish. We were treated to a taste of the tequila that Rancho Capomo produce, and I even learned how to make tortillas with some of the women in the kitchen.
To anyone thinking of holidaying in Bucerias, I would highly recommend staying at Casas De Los Colores. All in all, our vacation was relaxing and delightful - Casa Azul was the perfect backdrop to a great trip.
