About Laura Dudley Jenkins

We are the Jenkins family. We live in Cincinnati, Ohio most of the year but look forward to our annual trip to Maine. This is one of two properties on Levenseller Pond we own with my husband's mother, who lives in the property next door most of the year.

Laura Dudley Jenkins purchased this house in 2007

Why Laura Dudley Jenkins chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

We love this place and we hope to keep it in the family. It is a great place to spend a relaxing week or two with plenty to do right there and lots of options nearby. We highly recommend the Maine wild blueberry festival at the Union Fair (August 19-26, 2017) and the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland (August 2-6, 2017). You can learn to sail on Norton's Pond in nearby Lincolnville (http://www.lincolnvilleboatclub.com/) or figure it out yourself in our sunfish on Levenseller Pond.

What makes this house unique

We are always glad to help our renters find great things to do. We have favorite hiking trails to recommend in nearby Camden Hills State Park (we're especially fond of the Mt. Batty trail) and can give you directions to what we think is the best beach in Maine. Just let us know what you want to do and we are happy to help.

Peaceful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 10 yr old son stayed at this beautiful cabin, it was exactly as described and better than we expected. Everything that you would need was provided, we just brought our clothes and food. the drinking water from the tap was outstanding and refreshing. the cabin was exceptionally clean and tidy. The views from the pond were beautiful, we enjoyed swimming, kayaking and using the paddle boat in navigating the pond. The flower garden in the yard is breathtaking and relaxing to look at. Their were so many things to do, visiting Mt. Battie, shopping in the quaint nearby towns, visiting the DEW Zoo, which is viewed on Animal Planet, eating at the various local restaurants, especially the Maine Lobstaa!!!. There is also a mcdonald's and Burger King for the kids, if needed, and it was needed. We stayed at other vacation homes from this sight, and this far exceeds them all. The water was cool and relaxing on a hot summer day. We truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return, thank you Kim for everything, it was a pleasure to be a guest!!!, The Batty's

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Everything was just as described and surpassed what we had expected. My husband and I along with our child, couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, the cabin was exceptionally clean, plenty of room, stocked with just about everything you would need from home. The drinking water from the tap was exceptional, unlike other cabins in Maine that we have rented in the past. We were just steps from the pond with beautiful views all around. The hospitality was exceptional, we spent alot of time sightseeing and going to the quaint shops in nearby towns. There were also plenty of restaurants to dine at, and of course there was mcdonald's and burger king for the fussy kids, like my son. There were plenty of attractions in nearby towns to entertain everyone, or just take the paddle boat or kayak out on the pond for a relaxing day. We had such a wonderful vacation, and can't emphasize enough how peaceful and relaxing it was. We can't wait to come back again. Thank you again Kim for everything, you were a great host!!!!

Great vacations in Lakefront Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this wonderful cottage two times, a few summers apart from each other. It is spacious, clean and cozy. The setting is perfect. Levenseller pond is right in front and it feels like paradise to just sip a cup of coffee in the morning and enjoy the peace and quiet. Kayaking on the pond is a blast. A little drive to nearby Camden for nice restaurants and other entertainment. We highly recommend this cottage.

Quite Lake View Minutes from Camden

  • 5 of 5

This season will be my third time staying at this house and we are all looking forward to another fun and relaxing week. The house is tucked away in the mountains down a quiet road minutes from downtown Camden and Camden State Forest. The house has a very country and cozy feel without sacrificing the comforts of a modern home. Whether you are sitting at the kitchen table, grilling on the deck, lounging in the living room, or laying in bed you have spectacular views of the mountains behind the lake. The pond has offers, swimming, fishing, and boating and the water was very clear and clean.

Last year we visited near by Camden for antique shopping, chartered boating trips and ocean/mountain dining. We also visited Camden State forest where we could hike and view the surrounding islands and ocean from the mountain tops. Whether you are taking the whole family along for the trip of leaving them at home you will not be disappointed.

We love this place

  • 5 of 5

The cottage and guesthouse sit on the edge of Levenseller Pond, a small lake really, disturbed only by the occasional ripple from a passing canoe or the cry of a loon. The Adirondack chairs at the end of the dock are perfect for morning coffee and evening wine. We swam in the clear waters, kayaked and paddled the nooks and crannies of the lake, counted the hummingbirds and enjoyed every moment of time we spent in this idyllic setting. This property is fully equipped, including a lobster pot, many board games and even a great selection of old National Geographics for rainy day reading! Camden is 15 minutes away with many excellent restaurants, galleries, shops and grocery stores. Rockland, the lobster capital of the world, is 30 minutes away. Home of the Farnsworth Museum and nearby Owls Head Transportation Museum, this eclectic seaside town is diverse and interesting. Lighthouses, beaches and islands are all nearby and of course the magnificent coast of Maine is constant. Our time is always too short at The Pond. Memories of the sun rising over Levenseller Mountain, quiet country roads and this wonderful cottage and guesthouse invite us back again and again. The owners are great to work with and knowledgeable about the area. The property description is accurate, even a bit modest. We have always found everything required to be comfortable and content.
