We were two couples and a single man and we were delighted with this house. After rinsing off the salt water, a dip in the pool was just the ticket to cool down for the evening. Ceiling fans in the enclosed pool space kept the area cool enough for social gathering even in July.
The kitchen is very well appointed, large enough for more than one chef, and open to the dining area. The house was very clean, with a design affording privacy when desired, while offering a center living area which is large, open and welcoming, Décor is very charming. The beds and linens are exceptionally high-quality and comfortable.
We brought our boat and the dock was handy with easy access to deep water. We also made use of the kayaks which came with the house; they were fun and just the ticket for private exploration.
The bottom line is that this place had everything we needed and even more than we hoped for. We wouldn't change a thing and this will always be our first choice of places to stay whenever we are in the area.
Thank you so much to Jeannie and Geoff.
The position of the villa is wonderful as is the layout inside.
This was our second visit to the property and there were signs of things needing replacement/upgrading, the pool roof was torn for most of the holiday letting flies into the pool etc. We had the use of the kayaks during our stay and overall enjoyed our vacation.
We had 4 adults and 2 kids for 4 nights. Brought our boat with us and kept it at the dock. House was perfect for us and had plenty of space and was very clean.
The location was excellent for us as we were out on the boat all the time and it was easy access. There is a ton of sea life right near the house as we saw manatees and even a dolphin swim down the canal.
Would absolutely stay again.
This was our second stay at PARADISE NEST. My wife and I along with overnight guests as well as day visitors could not have been more satisfied. We love the location, cleanliness, hominess, amenities and who could forget the nesting osprey "Wilma and Charlie" with their two chicks. By the end of the month one chick had fledged and the second was ready to take wing. It's not often you get to witness nature at work not 20 yard off your balcony.
Thank you, Jeannie, for sharing your piece of "Paradise".
Beautiful home. Beautiful view from front deck. Very clean. Our son works on Cayo Costa and very convenient to boat dock. Owners were very easy to work with and very accommodating.
Although the owners were easy to work with and they took care of most of the problems we had with the house, and there were a lot of problems, they did not live up to promises made. With all the compromises we had to make, we were only compensated a small amount. The owner said we would receive much more…it was stated that we were very understanding through all the problems. Of course we were very understanding because we thought we would be compensated for our troubles! Or we would have refused to stay.
The house was a complete mess when we arrived as the cleaners never showed up. The owners were just leaving on a cruise and did find someone to clean the house. There was no manager to contact while the owners were out of town, but there was a number listed on a notebook that was a friend of theirs and we were able to get a plumber in to fix the toilet.
We had to put up with cockroaches until they got an exterminator in to spray. We picked up dead roaches for a week. There was so much food in the cupboards, no one should use. There should never be food in the cupboards in a rental unit! The closets and drawers had so much stuff in them that it was hard to find room for our things, but we managed.
The fumes from the fireplace were so bad we had to turn the gas off, even though the owner turned it on for us. They replaced one of the televisions, because for almost a week we had no sound coming from the one in the living room.
The pool was completely unusable. The house advertised a solar heated pool, but the solar heat was turned off because it leaked off the roof so bad, it had to be turned off. The pool never got above 65 degrees, even when the air temperatures were 80 plus degrees. When you pay extra for a house with a pool, you should be able to use the pool!
All that said, the house is nice and, once cleaned, was usable. There are lots of stairs to get into the house as it is a raised ranch, so if you have problems climbing stairs, this is not the house for you! The dock was nice to fish off, and a few fish were caught. It would have been nice not to have the owner’s boat there on the lift, but wasn’t a problem.
In the 15 years we have rented from VRBO and Home Away, this is the only house we have had problems. I guess the odds are pretty good. I will continue to rent vacation properties from VRBO and Home Away, just not this house!
