About Luis Alfonso Manager
Managing short term vacation rentals in San Juan is an important part of the work I do as the Director of the Arana Foundation, a non profit organization that supports arts in Puerto Rico. Our organization offers seasonal painting exhibits, musical activities, weekly Figure Drawing sessions with live models and Yoga classes in Old San Juan. We also provide reasonably priced lodging for artists and academics visiting the capital city.
Why Luis Alfonso Manager chose Catedral
Because it is so elevated, El Mirador offers panoramic views of The El Yunque mountain range, the San Juan Harbor, the north shore of the Puerto Rico Mainland and all the "azoteas" (rooftops) on Sol, San José and Cruz streets. With the passing clouds, it feels like one is on a ship. It is truly magical.

I regret nothing about this stay. It was more than I could have asked for.
Simply wonderful. Luis Alfonso was a gem of a human being and he was incredibly helpful.
The most amazing terrace ever!!
My husband and I spent 10 days at Luis Alfonso's wonderful apartment, and I would have loved to stay even longer!! As everyone has said, the terrace/balcony is ENORMOUS and the views are very beautiful. We enjoyed both our breakfasts and our evening drinks looking out over the city very very much.
In addition, the location is just amazing. Very easy walking distance to everything in Old San juan. Also 2-3 blocks from Plaza de Armas, which has a good grocery store that we went to just about every day.
The apartment is exactly as described. Functional kitchen with everything you need. Pretty comfortable bed. Towels and linens included. There's a big living room, but we spent almost all our time on the balcony. Also nice to have 2 bathrooms with showers and toilets.
If you're a light sleeper, the noise out on the streets could potentially be an issue, especially on the weekend. (It didn't bother us.)
Luis Alfonso is a charming and very helpful host. I recommend this apartment very strongly for anyone who can climb the 3 flights of stairs (with a good handrail). We loved our time there and can't wait to go back!!
I loved the rooftop patio!
It was a good place for the money. Luis was fantastic, warm and welcoming throughout my stay. I really was not there much and when I was, I never sat inside- I was on the rooftop whenever I was home and not in bed. The Coqui songs from next door are amazing!. Great location in Viejo San Juan. Very close to Plaza d' Armas and the Cathederal.
Location and character
Perfectly located in the heart of San Juan! It's on a walking distance from restaurants, bars shops, supermarket. I loved the authentic feeling the apartment has. Its very clean with everything needed. With high ceilings and fans we didnt needed air conditioning, although it was 30 degrees outside. Lots of windows allow cool breeze all day. The rooftop terrace became our favorite place. We loved having morning coffee there enjoying the view. The bathroom on the terrace was an added bonus. The place is definitely much better than a hotel room. Luis is wonderful, met us for check in and gave us amazing recommendations. I would definitely stay there again!
Beautiful location, wonderful and gracious host
The apartment is wonderful for all the space it provides and the wonderful view. Luis Alfonso is a delight. He’s eager to share history and insight on Puerto Rico. We would have loved to have stayed longer. When we return, this will be where we hope to stay!
We really enjoyed staying in old San Juan in this wonderful apartment. Luis was very warm, gracious and helpful. Sad to leave!
El Mirador is just a block from Calle San Sebastián, two blocks from Plaza de Armas or Plaza San José, very close to the historical sites and Calle San Francisco and Calle Fortaleza, the commercial streets where you can find groceries, crafts shops and pharmacies.
It is right at the heart of the oldest section of the colonial city but it is calm and mostly quiet.
The panoramic view is truly spectacular because the building is located in the higher elevation of the island of Old San Juan.
