Placencia Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 8 Sleeps

Two beautiful cabana suites... each having a kitchen/dining cabana

(with sleeping area) and a bedroom cabana (with laundry). Each suite

has two cabanas connected by a pergola covered deck perfect for al

fresco dining and barbequing. Each suite has two bathrooms. Although

very affordable for one couple, each cabana suite will comfortably

sleep six to eight. Perfect for two couples traveling together or for children

in a separate cabana. Very kid and toddler friendly... with enclosed spacious deck and fenced beach yard with 8 foot wading pool. High chair, Pak N Play crib, video baby monitor and car seat available. Check out the full list of amenities. Family friendly.

The cabanas are located on the beautiful sandy shore of the Placencia

peninsula just steps from the Caribbean shore your beach faces east

toward a stunning sunrise each morning. There is a 100 foot lighted

pier (see photos) and palapa just steps from your deck.

Traveling is easy: Belize City is only two hours from Miami and

Houston. Our cabanas are only three miles from Placencia airport,

which is only a thirty minute flight from Belize City via Tropic Air

or Maya Island Air. From the US: Continental, American, US Airways,

Delta and TACA fly in to Belize City.

Many guests rent a vehicle at Belize International Airport and drive

to Belmopan and then down the Hummingbird Highway through the Maya Mountains to Placencia. It is just a stunning drive and a great way to travel Belize.

"Passing through jungle and citrus orchard as it skirts the northern edges of the Maya Mountain range, Belize’s Hummingbird Highway offers a near constant procession of postcard-perfect vistas. There are also plenty of reasons to stop along the way, chief among these being a visit to Cave’s Branch for cave tubing and St Herman’s Cave, where, with a guide, you can explore its huge caverns and classic Maya ceremonial chambers containing calcified skeletons and artifacts. There’s also the Blue Hole, a 25ft-deep sapphire-blue swimming hole inside a 328ft-wide cenote that was formed when the roof caved in on one of the Sibun River’s underground tributaries."

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were in Placencia from 1/15-1/25 and stayed at the mainstay II. It was an amazing trip, Drew picked us up at the airport, helped sort out some trouble with a missing bag, and recommended a place for dinner for the first night. Food on average in the different restaurants we ate at cost around 55 Belize for the two of us, so ~27 American for fresh fish and lobster. So basically a steal. Shopping for drinks and food could get expensive in the Chinese owned markets that are everywhere, but if you bought in bulk it was cheaper. So if you want some Belikin for the whole trip go by a crate of it then return the empties and the crate for a refund, instead of buying them as singles for 2-4 Blz each. The locals in Seine Bight were extremely nice, and we never had any trouble with anyone. Thank you everyone at the Maine Stay. Drew, Karen, Joyce, Jerome, Hector, and many more im forgetting for all the help

A Peaceful Oasis

"We" are two couples who shared a cabana suite for nearly a week. The Maine Stay was perfect in every way especially the location. We felt as though we were away from the world but really had easy access to restaurants, town (we did have a car) and all the Belizian adventures one could want. We enjoyed our Monkey River Creole tour (Nite Wind tours) and our Cockscomb adventure with Doyle Gardiner. Although we could have cooked, we opted for dinners out after enjoying watching the sunset over the lagoon. Dawn's in town and the Bistro up the street were two favorites. The Green Parrot serves a delicious breakfast. But after our adventures, we could return to the calm and beauty of The Maine Stay to enjoy that beautiful property -.swimming, kayaking or simply relaxing in the wonderful ocean breezes. We hope to return.

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time at the Maine Stay Suite. Loved the layout of the cabanas--perfect for two couples. The cabanas are just as nice (or better) than pictured. Kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, plates silver etc--we gave the blender a good workout! The air conditioners in both units work very well and are quiet. Our favorite activities were 1. drinking coffee on the deck and watching the sunrise, 2. snorkeling at the coral garden about 200 yards NE of the gazebo, and 3. Grilling fresh fish or lobster on our deck.

Karen is a pleasure to work with, there if you need her and quick to help out. We loved the location--right on the beach with lagoon access only a short walk away. We went to Placencia several times for tours or restaurants--but really liked the quieter location of the cabanas.

Did something fun every day: snorkeling/dive trip to Silk Cay. Snorkeling at Coral garden near cabana. Water fall and kayak trip with Dale (very nice guy) who works for Karen. Monkey River tour. Snorkel trip with Shane to False Cay (about 2 miles NE of cabanas.

Highly recommend Discounted Belize Shuttles if you need transportation from Belize City to Placencia--they are very easy to work with (Paul quickly responds to all emails) and bent over backward to make our drives more interesting. We stopped at Belize Zoo and Blue Hole on the way down and stopped at Bocawina Rainforest Resort on way back for awesome zipline ride.

Had a wonderful time, highly recommend Maine Stay Suites and Placencia.

Family Vacation

Could not have been better. Karen and staff helpful and friendly. Swam each day off pier. Kayaks were fun and when we when we traveled way to far (all the way into town!) Karen sent the truck to pick us up. Safe. Secure.

Tons of fun. 5 adults and we had tons of space and lots to do and see. Local food good and safe to eat. Women selling fresh bread in the evening in town--sweet bread the best. Fruit and veggie truck comes outside gate each Thurs afternoon with bargain prices. Watch the sunrise each am and wondered across the street to watch sunset in the evening. Belize Zoo very fun stop. Fish market in town is hidden so ask locals.

"John the Bakerman" is a must for local tarts and yummy banana bread. Donna at the pier in Placencia (I think it is Night Winds Tours) has good prices. Enjoy!

Honeymoon Haven!

Our experience with Karen and Maine Stay was nothing short of awesome! We stayed in the Sunrise Cabin which was wonderful. Solid mahogany everywhere, and equipped for comfort. We loved it. Tons of time spent on the front porch gazing at sunrises or fishermen paddling by a mere few feet from the water. Swimming, kayaking, canoeing; fresh fish from a young man on a bicycle; wandering Placencia; snorkeling a national park; eating out at some really fun and delicious places; it was relaxing, exciting, memorable, almost all at the same time! Then to top it off, we were treated to a trip to Secret Falls with the owner, Karen, and friends and neighbors from the Maine Stay. Our time here was "life-time-memory" status and we recommend it highly.

Amazing Beachfront Cabanas

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at The Maine Stay for almost 2 weeks and had the best vacation ever! Every morning we watched the sun rise over the Caribbean Sea and set over the lagoon across the way. The owner, Karen and her staff provided everything you could possibly need. They even got us some fresh coconuts one evening. We felt safe and knew that there was always security on site. Every morning the beach is raked smooth and beautiful. We spent many enjoyable hours watching the water and the birds from our beachfront lounge chairs. Karen met us just as we arrived and filled us in on great restaurants and places to see. The cabanas were better stocked than my own kitcen. The Maine Stay has lots of canoes, kayaks, bikes, and fun for free. The people of Belize were extreamly friendly and kind. The food is so delicious and cheap. We rented a car from Belize City, spent time in San Ignosio and drove down to Placencia. The beach was our favorite stay and The Maine Stay was fabulous! I'm ready to go back!

We just got home from a week's stay at The Maine Stay I. I must say that my eyes teared up the morning our family left, not wanting to leave and taking last-minute pictures of everything so we could remember every wonderful detail. First and foremost, the location is absolutely stunning and every time you come out of your cabana you have to pinch yourself that you are in such a beautiful place, enjoying the Caribbean sea right off the spacious deck at your leisure. Although the first 60 or so feet of beach in Placencia is mandated to be public, it is rare that anyone but guests or the occasional resident across the street came over to the beach, so it's like having your own private beach. We are a family of five, and felt we had plenty of room. The kids had their own cabana and we had ours. The hammocks and swinging chair were used often (who doesn't dream of relaxing in a hammock between two palm trees next to the ocean?!) Beach toys, floatie things, kayaks and bicycles are provided, which was very nice. The owner and the security guard on hand are always available to help with any advice on where to eat, what to see, etc.; and when we wanted a net to go crabbing or a specific pan to bake brownies in, we were graciously accommodated.

We are big nature lovers, so another plus for us was finding a living sea cucumber, sea star, and horse conch (pictures taken and then released), lots of sea urchins, iguanas and other lizards, ghost crabs at night, etc. Everyone we met in Belize was so kind, "real" and unpretentious. Such a wonderful melting pot of people from virtually every background and culture imaginable. We will definitely return someday! If you have the time and inclination, you may want to consider doing what we did---- flying into Cancun and renting a car, then driving to Belize (about 4 hours to the border). We stayed about a week in San Ignacio to enjoy the jungle and Spanish Lookout area before heading to the beach in Placencia. The airfare difference on five tickets to Cancun versus Belize City paid for the rental car (after playing around with various dates and times for departures). Everything you want to see in Belize is pretty spread out.... so having a car is so nice versus paying for a taxi or guide every time (or waiting for a bus).

Loved these cabanas, the beaches and the village of Placencia! Definitely hope to return.
