We paid in full to return to this property which we had stayed in for two months last year2015 . Then It was great.
When we arrived this year to check in at 5:30 the first date of our rental it was not ready-missing linens and ammenities previously on Site. ( keys, towels, linens, lightbulbs) When we asked for them the owner was hostile and nasty. We received linens at 9:30 at night so that we could go to bed.the next morning i asked for several lightbulbs for the kitchen island. She told me they were busted and we would just have to deal with it. Then the landlord began harassing both my husband and myself cursing, screaming and using obsenities .She went so far as to use ethnic slurs, and attempted to hit me through a screen door. She then went outside and began jumping on our sons car and tossing her small chiuaiai on the roof of the car . We obviously did. not feel safe there and decided tomleave despite having nonwhere to go. We phoned the police. It was apparent from that interaction that this occurs often . she continued to abuse them verbally. Back up officers wer dispatched. The landlord lives on the premises somthere is no way to ignore this behavior. She refused tomissue a refund. We were there less than 24 hous.

We spent the month of January, 2013 here. It was wonderful! Her home was very clean and modern with everything we needed. It is located in a beautiful historic district, one block from Pineapple Grove shops and restaurants and a five minute walk to downtown Atlantic Avenue where all the action is. You don't really need a car. Her gardens were amazing; so lush and peaceful. The fireplace in the family room was also a nice touch; used it often for ambiance. (And once or twice for warmth!)
Sheila, the owner, lives on site, however, we still had our privacy. She is very friendly, fun and extremely welcoming. We had champagne waiting for us in the fridge, fresh flowers in all the rooms when we arrived, dog treats for our dog and even let us use an extra dog bed she had. She went out of her way to make us feel very welcomed.
Her home is a resort in itself. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in her lovely home and would definitely go back, and recommend it to our friends. Thanks again so much, Sheila, for everything.
We have stayed in vacation rentals all over the US and this is by far my absolute favorite. I wish I were still there!!
This cottage is the best of both worlds in absolutely everything: it has all the modern amenities with historic charm, it's close to everything but very quiet and private, it has that cozy cottage feel but it's open and bright, and the owner Sheila is friendly and fun but she gives you complete privacy.
The pictures look great but don't completely do the place justice. Sheila did an amazing job restoring and decorating the cottage. Everything was spotless, and there many personal touches so it feels like home. We had every supply we needed in the kitchen. The house is on a beautiful, quiet block with beautiful homes. The garden is absolutely amazing, with the privacy hedge and gorgeous landscaping and a gliding dining table nearly hidden within a nest of trees and plants.
If you love to walk, as we do, the cottage is perfectly located in a beautiful historic neighborhood, one block from Pineapple Grove shops, a five minute walk to Atlantic Avenue with all its shops and restaurants and art galleries, 10 minute walk to Walgreens and Publix, 20 minutes to the beach. You actually don't need a car. But there is ample street parking as well as private parking on the property if you prefer to drive.
Thank you for everything, Sheila -- hope to be back soon!
Spent two weeks at this rental over Christmas/New Year's holiday. Charming rental was clean and well maintained. Friendly owner lives on site and went out of her way to make everything welcoming and homey for our family. The house, while small, had everything our family of four needed. The kitchen was newly upgraded, clean and well equipped. Great location for teens to walk to beach or Atlantic Ave's restaurants and shops. The cottage has perfect outdoor space and is good for entertaining. We had 15 over for Christmas dinner and had enough room. Our dog was also made welcome and had fun in the completely fenced in yard. There is also a small one bedroom to the rear of the property which is nicely renovated as well and also available for rental. Would definitely go back again. Thanks Sheila
