The cottage has everything you could hope for and more with a lovely complimentary goodie bags and fluffy dressing gowns to wear for the stay, and every other thing to make it an amazing home from home. Great location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for one week with our dogs. We all had a great time in Winterton and rest of Norfolk. Great location to walk the dogs on the sand dunes or the beach. Although you have to pay to use the car park. The cottage was near to the pub and not too far to walk to the chip shop or shop.

Cottage garden fully enclosed, although a little small.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the owners property and would thoroughly recommend. Will need to book early.

Lovely cottage and stay in Winterton

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Compass Cottage with everything you need for a peaceful break by the sea, ideally located near the pub with good food, fish and chip and corner shops. The cottage itself has been tastefully decorated and all linens were clean and provided. The garden is great for dogs as is completely enclosed and not overlooked. Fully kitted out kitchen with everything you need and a welcome pack which is a nice touch.

The beach is lovely and 5-10 mins away we preferred to walk right and along the coastal path for 5 minutes away from the cafe (not impressed) to avoid crowds, saying that beach is huge and plenty of space even in the height of summer. We went to the Fishermans local pub and had good meals each time and also Nelson Head at Hornsby where the seals are - we were very lucky to see so many seals. We also stopped at Poppylands cafe for cream tea which was a nice vintage cafe.

We had days out to Yarmouth for the rides, Wells (1.5 Hours with traffic) for the town , Cromer pier and sea front (1 hour). We hired a day boat from Sutton Staithe boatyard highly recommend a beautiful day - we had the whole day 7 hours for £90 so went up and down the Broads 4 of us plus 2 medium size dogs and was just right. Our teenage daughter also enjoyed steering!

Overall a lovely quiet beach holiday in a great village we will definitely revisit and hopefully to Compass Cottage, only room for improvement would be Wifi as this was pretty rubbish but with so much to do it's not a hardship.

We all loved it.

  • 4 of 5

A very well equipped, charming cottage with many thoughtful details - pictures, ornaments and colour decoration. A real home-from-home.

Minor problems were dealt with swiftly and efficiently by Mark. The area is ideal for dog-lovers as is the secure garden.

Many thanks for a happy two weeks.

Fantastic property in great location

  • 5 of 5

Yet again we were not disappointed. Our 6th visit to Compass Cottage, a comfortable and homely cottage in the lovely village of Winterton on Sea. An addition since our last stay of a new all singing all dancing T.V. And some very comfy sofas in the conservatory were a nice surprise. A welcome pack was very much appreciated. Our holiday was made even better by a week of glorious weather!

Absolutely lovely

  • 4 of 5

Another very relaxing couple of weeks spent at Compass Cottage. The weather has been glorious and our black Labrador has had a ball on the beach. Winterton on Sea is a lovely little village and the long walks so relaxing especially when followed by an excellent lunch at The Nelson Head at Horsey.. The cottage is vey well equipped and comfortable. A problem with the boiler which was fixed the very next day. Have already booked for next year.
